Corruption/Fraud

Episode 1154 – She Has Some ‘Splainin To Do!

Unfortunately, Conservatives are doing what I said they should not do. Let’s talk about.

Ilhan Omar has some explaining to do.

And Zorhan Mamdani is doing exactly what he said he wouldn’t do.

Unfortunately, This Is Going To Happen

According to Fox News:

House Republicans are coalescing around progressive “Squad” member Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., after she was attacked during a town hall in Minneapolis on Tuesday night.

“This is totally unacceptable. I am glad Rep. Omar is okay,” Rep. Pete Stauber, R-Minn., wrote on X in response to a video of the incident.

It’s a rare show of bipartisanship in the face of political violence that has become common in recent years amid increasingly volatile rhetoric on both sides.

Support for Omar came from both conservative and moderate Republicans after a man appeared to confront her and spray a substance on her before he was quickly subdued at her public event.

Of course it is Donald Trump’s fault. AOC made that clear:

“It is not a coincidence that after days of President Trump and [Vice President] Vance putting Rep. Omar in their crosshairs with slanderous public attacks, she gets assaulted at her town hall.”

Then Do Something About It

According to the New York Post:

The House Oversight Committee is probing “Squad” Rep. Ilhan Omar’s skyrocketing family wealth after a $9 billion Somali social services fraud scandal exploded in her district,The Post has learned.

Oversight panel Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.) said staff lawyers are exploring the extraordinary step of subpoenaing Omar’s spouse over his allegedly shady business practices.

“We’re going to get answers, whether it’s through the Ethics Committee or the Oversight Committee, one of the two,” he told The Post.

Republicans want to know how Somali-born Omar (D-Minn.) and her politically-connected husband Tim Mynett went from nearly broke to being worth up to $30 million in just a year, according to her 2024 disclosure forms.

“There are a lot of questions as to how her husband accumulated so much wealth over the past two years,” Comer said. “It’s not possible. It’s not. I’m a money guy. It’s not possible.”

Separately, federal law enforcement is also probing.

“We are investigating all politicians potentially connected to any of this [fraud] in Minnesota. You can read between the lines,” said a law enforcement source.

Unlike the Biden administration, which took no apparent action, Team Trump is “on top of it,” the source said.

The comments came as The Post learned the FBI was briefed during the Biden administration on suspicions about an array of companies run by Omar’s hubby.

Investment firm Rose Lake Capital, formed by Mynett and partner Will Hailer in 2022, is part of a web of companies created by the lefty “Squad” member’s husband of five years.

Rose Lake Capital had a paltry $42.44 in its bank account in late 2022, according to court documents in a lawsuit against a related company filed in South Dakota.

Yet the firm rocketed in value from zero to up to $25 million in just a year, according to Omar’s 2024 filing.

Associates were perplexed enough in 2024 about alleged irregularities and questions about where the money was coming from that they brought information to the attention of federal investigators, sources said.

They wondered whether the businesses — including a winery — might be up to something improper, since none had a public track record.

Several prominent people had previously been listed as advising the Rose Lake firm, but are no longer present on its bright pink web page. They include former Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), who once chaired the Senate Finance Committee and served as U.S. Ambassador to China under Barack Obama.

Baucus said he had a single phone call with Hailer back in 2022 about a proposed deal to make storage units. “Then nothing came of it” beyond occasional emails from Hailer. “That went on for about four or five months or so, then just radio silence,” he told The Post.

“He stopped writing his emails about the investment – about how well he’s doing, all that stuff. You can read between the lines – it sounded a little bit fishy,” he said. Baucus said no one ever asked to use his name as an “advisor” on the company website.

Also previously listed were former Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.), who once chaired the House Agriculture Committee, and J. Peter Pham, a fellow at the Atlantic Council who served as President Trump’s Special Envoy to Africa’s Great Lakes Regions.

“Obviously I’ve seen reporting, including in The Post, about Will’s partner who I’ve never met and his wife [Omar] – Tim and his wife’s sudden coming into riches. But [I] can’t say anything about that, other than certainly I had no share in that,” said Pham, who indicated he had a single meeting about a potential deal to build solar panels in South Africa and was called an “advisor” by the company. Peterson didn’t respond to requests for comment.

Rose Lake’s website claims to have had officers with “previous” experience managing assets worth $60 billion, an amount that would make the firm a player that might attract notice.

But Wall Street insiders told The Post they had never heard of Rose Lake, or of anyone investing with them despite the firm boasting on its website that it had been running billions of dollars of assets under management and engaging in an array of high-end financial activities including “deals, mergers and acquisitions, debt restructuring and capital raising.”

Another Wall Street source expressed shock that Mynett — a longtime political consultant in Minnesota — was suddenly running a financial firm.

The firm also is not registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Wall Street’s top regulator, and doesn’t say how much it is managing now.

The Dodd Frank reforms imposed after the 2008 financial crisis created registration requirements for advisors overseeing $100 million in assets, or $150 million for private fund advisors, with some exceptions. So-called family offices can sidestep disclosure rules because they don’t solicit outside investors. Venture capital firms are also exempt and Rose Lake touts VC work as one of its specialties.

Still, Rose Lake’s boast on its website that it does private equity work and that its officers’ had billions in “previous” assets under management would suggest the fund would be required to register, said a former high-ranking SEC official. “I would continue to push on the disclosure issue because this looks funny,” the person said.

Financial experts have also pointed to multiple variations of similar names for Rose Lake entities as raising “red flags,” and that the company was scrubbing a list of its officers from its site in the wake of the multi-billion dollar fraud scheme involving the Somali community in his wife’s district after a front-page report from The Post.

In recent days, the firm has deactivated its LinkedIn page. Hailer is no longer mentioned on it.

His own LinkedIn page no longer lists the firm – although it does identify him as a co-owner of the eStCru winery, which he launched with Mynett in 2020.

Hailer previously worked as political director for then-Democratic National Committee chair Keith Ellison, now Minnesota’s attorney general.

The widening web of investigations are long overdue, House Majority Whip Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) told The Post.

“While Minnesotans have been getting fleeced to the tune of $9 billion by Somali fraudsters, Ilhan Omar and her husband have been raking in millions through their shady businesses,” he said.

“The explosion of wealth, plus the fact that convicted fraudsters helped fund Omar’s campaign, is worth an investigation by the Ethics Committee at the very least.”

An SEC spokesman would not comment when asked about Rose Lake and its filings. The Post has contacted Mynett, Hailer, and Rep. Omar’s office seeking comment.

They Love Law and Order

According to the New York Post:

NYPD cops have been ordered to cut back on overtime — in what the rank-and-file fear is just the beginning under far-lefty Mayor Zohran Mamdani, who campaigned on eliminating the department’s entire OT budget, The Post has learned.

Officers have been told they need to reduce their extra time by nine to 11 hours next month as part of a cost-cutting initiative, multiple sources said Friday.

It wasn’t immediately clear if the department planned to keep those caps in place after the shortest month of the year or if further cuts were in the works.

Insiders said the order didn’t come down from City Hall and chalked it up to a short month with few big-ticket events.

Episode 1151 – Hello? Didn’t You Know Envy is a Sin!

We are learning a little more about the people who crashed that church on Sunday.

California’s education system could be in some big trouble soon.

And Eric Swalwell, who lives in Washington D.C. has decided to run for California governor, makes a promise on what he’s going to do to ICE officers when he’s governor.

Arrest Her

According to Fox News:

Far-left agitator Nekima Levy Armstrong, who was one of the organizers of the storming of a Minnesota church to protest ICE on Sunday, raked in over $1 million during six years leading a Minneapolis civil rights nonprofit that addresses anti-poverty issues.

Armstrong, whose website identifies her as a civil rights lawyer and “scholar-activist,” helped to organize the storming of Cities Church in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Sunday.

In a Facebook post, she claimed that one of the church’s pastors is a leader at U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. The demonstration is one of many throughout the Twin Cities in protest of the federal government’s surge of immigration enforcement officials to crack down on widespread fraud taking place in the state.

Armstrong, who is currently the founder and CEO of a cannabis company called Dope Roots, led the nonprofit as executive director for at least six years, from 2019 through 2024, according to tax filings by the Wayfinder Foundation.

The post features a video of anti-ICE activist Mike Anderson outside a church, defiantly denying disruption of a worship service while challenging Attorney General Pam Bondi to arrest him.

Finally

According to Fox News:

A top Trump administration Education Department official exposed a pair of blue states that he says are among the worst for federal student aid fraud as officials crack down on scammers who are exploiting the taxpayer-funded programs.

In 2025, the Department of Education said it prevented $1 billion of fraud in the aid programs. Under Secretary of Education Nicholas Kent said these schemes are not only a waste of taxpayer money, but also disproportionately affect low-income students trying to pay for their education.

We talked about California being certainly a hub of fraud, waste and abuse, but we also see Minnesota, for example,” Kent told Fox News Digital. “You know, one of the things that has been brought to light over the course of the last couple of weeks is the enormous amount of fraud, waste and abuse under the governor’s leadership there, and this is something that the federal Department of Education had lifted up and highlighted months ago.”

“And to kind of put that into perspective, that’s 1,700 Pell Grants for low-income students that that money could have gone toward,” Kent continued. “So when we think about limited resources, we think about taking away these things that low-income and middle-income students really need in order to get in and through their educational journey.”

During a 12-month period between 2024 and 2025, scammers stole at least $10 million in federal financial aid from community colleges in California. According to one report, 34% of applications to community colleges in the state last year were likely fake.

Here’s One Company That Will Leave New York

According to Fox News:

New York City reached a $2.1 million settlement with A&E Real Estate covering 14 buildings in three boroughs, with Mayor Zohran Mamdani saying the agreement will force repairs and stop what he described as tenant harassment.

“Today, I am proud to stand here … to announce that New York City has come to a settlement with A&E Realty regarding 14 buildings across three boroughs,” Mamdani said Friday at a news conference in Jackson Heights, Queens.

Asked during the news conference how aggressive the new administration plans to be with landlords, Mamdani said, “We want to make it clear to everyone in this city that no one is above the law and that if you are a landlord violating the law, then this administration will hold you to account.”

Mamdani said the settlement requires A&E to pay “$2.1 million in restitution” and includes “injunctions preventing them from harassing their tenants” while compelling the company “to correct more than 4,000 building code violations across these 14 buildings.”

Episode 1148 – This Is a Start

The Trump administration is trying to limit immigration to the United States and GET RID of those who don’t belong here. Good for him

An Iranian dissident points to the problems with the US media when it comes to the Iranian uprising.

And we have some sound bites that are just amazing and showing how insane the Left is.

Should Have Been Done Before

According to the Post Millennial:

The Trump administration is ending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for those from Somalia living in the US. Those Somalis that have been living in the US under TPS will be required to go back to their country starting on March 17 later this year.

“Temporary means temporary,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said in a statement. “Country conditions in Somalia have improved to the point that it no longer meets the law’s requirement for Temporary Protected Status.”

“Further, allowing Somali nationals to remain temporarily in the United States is contrary to our national interests,” Noem added, per Fox News. “We are putting Americans first.” According to the outlet, there are 2,471 Somalis living in the US with TPS, and there are also 1,383 in the country with pending TPS applications as well. The move from the Trump administration comes as ICE is carrying out surged immigration enforcement operations in Minnesota amid the fallout of a widespread fraud scandal in the state.

The issue, although it has been developing for some time, was highlighted by a viral report from independent reporter Nick Shirley, who went to Minnesota to uncover fraud at daycare centers, many of them being run by the Somali population. Roughly $9 billion in fraud schemes have plagued the state, with more reportedly left to uncover.

There are around 600 Somalis with TPS status living in Minnesota. The country of Somalia was granted TPS in 1991 when there was an ongoing civil war in the nation. President Joe Biden had extended TPS status for Somalis in 2024.

According to Perplexity:

Trump has ordered a pause on processing immigrant visas for 75 countries, not all visas, and it is framed as targeting people deemed likely to use public benefits.

What the policy does

  • The State Department will suspend processing of new immigrant visas for applicants from 75 countries whose nationals are categorized as likely to require public assistance (a “public charge”) after arriving in the U.S.
  • The pause is described as indefinite and is part of the Trump administration’s broader immigration and travel restrictions that have expanded since 2025.

Who is and isn’t affected

  • The suspension applies to immigrant visas, i.e., people seeking to live permanently in the United States as lawful permanent residents.
  • Short-term visas for tourists, students, and other temporary visitors are not covered by this specific suspension, though these categories may be affected by other travel-ban rules or background vetting.

Which countries are included

  • Reporting indicates that the list of 75 countries includes places such as Afghanistan, Brazil, Egypt, Iran, Russia, and Somalia, among others.
  • Major outlets have published maps and full country lists; these show coverage across multiple regions (Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, and parts of Asia and Eastern Europe).

Official justification and context

  • The administration and State Department say the pause is meant to protect U.S. taxpayers by limiting immigration from people judged likely to depend on welfare or other public assistance.
  • It follows earlier Trump-era travel bans and visa restrictions justified on security and vetting grounds, which together now touch dozens of countries through either full bans or partial limits.

Practical implications and next steps

  • Consular posts will stop issuing new immigrant visas in these countries once the policy takes effect (reports say as early as the week of January 21, 2026).
  • Lawsuits and legal challenges are likely, as immigrant-rights groups and some affected families argue the “public charge” rationale is discriminatory and overly broad.

The State Department list has been published by multiple outlets and immigration law firms, and it is the same 75 countries across sources.

Full list of 75 countries

These are the countries subject to the immigrant visa suspension:

Afghanistan; Albania; Algeria; Antigua and Barbuda; Armenia; Azerbaijan; Bahamas; Bangladesh; Barbados; Belarus; Belize; Bhutan; Bosnia and Herzegovina; Brazil; Burma/Myanmar; Cambodia; Cameroon; Cape Verde; Colombia; Congo; Cuba; Dominica; Democratic Republic of the Congo; Egypt; Eritrea; Ethiopia; Fiji; Gambia; Georgia; Ghana; Grenada; Guatemala; Guinea; Haiti; Iran; Iraq; Ivory Coast (Côte d’Ivoire); Jamaica; Jordan; Kazakhstan; Kosovo; Kuwait; Kyrgyzstan; Laos; Lebanon; Liberia; Libya; North Macedonia (often listed as Macedonia); Moldova; Mongolia; Montenegro; Morocco; Nepal; Nicaragua; Nigeria; Pakistan; Republic of the Congo; Russia; Rwanda; Saint Kitts and Nevis; Saint Lucia; Saint Vincent and the Grenadines; Senegal; Sierra Leone; Somalia; South Sudan; Sudan; Syria; Tanzania; Thailand; Togo; Tunisia; Uganda; Uruguay; Uzbekistan; Yemen.

How to verify and track changes

  • The State Department notice on “immigrant visa processing updates for nationalities at high risk of public charge” links to the official list and will reflect any additions or removals over time.
  • Several law firms and advocacy sites mirror the official list verbatim, which is why the names and spellings match closely across NBC, CNBC, Reuters, and immigration law alerts.

Yep!

According to the Daily Wire:

Iranians are condemning the political Left for its silence as thousands are killed by Iran’s brutal Islamist regime.

https://twitter.com/i/status/2011436423073894729

She also stated in a rather lengthy post:

“They keep asking the same question. Why are lefties, why are the loudest pro-Gaza voices completely silent when it comes to Iran? Well, the answer is simple, because the truth exposes the lie. Because acknowledging Iran would shatter the ideological fantasy that they built. Let’s be clear, Islamic Republic of Iran is not a victim of Western imperialism. It is a theocratic authoritarian regime that survives by exporting violence, funding Islamists, and crushing its own people.”

“This is why lefties are silent. Because Hamas fits their narrative, but Iranian people don’t. Because Islamist violence against Israelis can be reframed as a resistance. But Islamist violence against Iranians exposes the truth. Right now, as you’re watching this, Iran, a country of more than 92 million people, is being erased in real time. Near total blackout for more than 24 hours. No internet, no call services, no connectivity whatsoever. And yet silence. No emergency protests on Western campuses, no hashtags, no solidarity statements, no megaphones, no tears. Because Iranian suffering does not fit their agenda. Because leftist movements today are not driven by human rights. They are driven by selective outrage and ideological loyalty. They will scream about censorship unless it’s done by an Islamist regime. They will condemn the state violence unless it’s wrapped in religious language. They will chant Free Palestine, but they never say Free Iran because that will require admitting something unforgivable: that political Islam is not liberation, it is domination.”

“And here’s the part that they do not want to hear. You cannot claim moral superiority while excusing a regime that kills and murders women for refusing hijab, executes protesters, cuts off the whole nation of 92 million people from the internet, and uses foreign proxies as a distraction from its internal collapse. You cannot pretend to care about Palestinians while ignoring Iranians being shot, tortured, and murdered by the Islamic Republic in Iran. That is not solidarity. That is ideological blindness. Iranian people are not silent. They are being silenced. And the silence from the Western Left? Well, that’s a choice. A choice to protect an ideology, a choice to excuse Islamism, a choice to look away when millions of people are suffering. Because their suffering, Iranian people’s suffering, complicates a slogan. History will remember this moment. It will remember who spoke for universal freedom. and who decided that some lives matter less than preserving a narrative. Long live Iran.”

More of This!

According to the Daily Wire:

A new House proposal aims to crack down on abuses of the student visa system, including by imposing tougher penalties on administrators and institutions found responsible for visa fraud.

The “Student Visa Integrity Act,” introduced by Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX), would tighten visa expiration dates and require in-person interviews for visa extensions for applicants from countries considered sponsors of terrorism or that are in programs otherwise deemed high national security risks.

Under the proposal, students from state sponsors of terrorism, nations with an overstay rate of 10% or higher, or institutions that do not use E-Verify would be limited to a maximum student visa term of two years.

“Studying in the United States is a privilege, not a right,” Gill told The Daily Wire. “Unfortunately, a system intended to spread the American dream has been abused by fraudsters and bad actors. My bill restores integrity to a system that has been exploited for decades by protecting national security, enforcing immigration law, and ensuring the student visa program serves America’s interests.”

Gill’s proposal would also require educational institutions and affiliated organizations to disclose any financial links to China. In addition, the bill would set new limits on foreign students wanting to transfer between schools.

The bill also empowers the Department of Homeland Security to reject student visa applicants from “countries of concern” if the applicant could pose a future national security risk to the United States. That includes individuals seeking to work in “the energy sector of Iran” or to “participate in coursework or training relating to or otherwise engage in flight training, aviation maintenance, or flight operations.”
