Drugs

Episode 517 – Cracker Jacks Solves the Problem

Texas is leading the fight against Biden open border policy and making some rather unique moves.

The House tries to pass a bill legalizing weed.

And the problem of equality for women has been solved.

Great Move

Texas is leading the fight against the Biden administration which plans to end Title 42 in May. Listen to the Texas governor Gregg Abbott and his plan to take care of business.

Some things:

  • This is brilliant. Make Washington D.C. into more of a crap hole than it already is.
  • Though Title 42 really is something that is going to have to end, Biden has:
    • Ended the Remain in Mexico policy.
    • Has been reassigning Border Patrol to other jobs, leaving the border undermanned.
    • He has also been demonizing the Border Patrol. Remember that little horse incident?
    • He has been letting illegal aliens stay in the country and has been letting them loose in states like Florida, Louisiana and Florida. Do you see a pattern?
  • Texas is also doing other things to secure the border.
    • Setting up safety inspection vehicles at the border to check for human trafficking. This will slow the traffic crossing the border.
    • Blockades are being deployed.
    • Razor wire is being deployed.
    • Boat blockades are being deployed in the Rio Grand river.

By the way, none of this is the state’s responsibility. Protecting the government is the responsibility of the federal government and they are failing. Or, if you think like I do that this is on purpose, than they are succeeding.

Be prepared for another crisis in June because a lot of these plans Texas is implementing aren’t working. We are now averaging 7000 a day crossing the border. That’s the highest it’s been this year.

Speaking of Encouraging Illegal Aliens

I’m sure Jen Psaki is counting the days to get out of her job. Peter Doocy just keeps wrecking her. I bet a dollar this gal swallows Prozac like it was M&Ms.

Here is Peter Doocy making Jen Psaki admit something quite revealing:

Huh?

The Biden administration is not giving illegal aliens “burner” phones. They’re not giving them Nokia brick cell phones. They are giving them Apple iPhones.

They say they are doing this because the location services allow the government to keep track of them. Yeah, of course, until their court date gets close and they throw away the cell phone. What a waste of money and what an incentive to come to the United States illegally.

But one thing she did say was that the smart phones had location services that can be monitored, they had facial recognition and voice recognition apps that could identify the individual on the other end. Does that sound familiar (hint: China)?

I’m not sure I’m comfortable with our government using this type of technology especially with how tyrannical our tech businesses are.

But No Cigarettes

Last week, the House of Representatives passed a bill that would make marijuana legalized across the nation.

  • The vote went 220-204 gaining a yay vote from some Republicans.
  • the bill would:
    • Take marijuana off of the list of controlled substances.
    • Add an 8% federal tax on purchases.
    • Allow some convictions on cannabis charges to be expunged.
    •  Press for sentencing reviews at the federal and state levels.
  • Regarding small business loans, the bill stated that the administrator of the Small Business Administration “shall establish and carry out a program, to be known as the ‘Cannabis Restorative Opportunity Program’, to provide loans and technical assistance…to assist small business concerns owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals that operate in eligible States or localities.”
  • It also stated that the administrator will create and operate a grant program called the “‘Equitable Licensing Grant Program,’ to provide any eligible State or locality funds to develop and implement equitable cannabis licensing programs that minimize barriers to cannabis licensing and employment for individuals adversely impacted by the War on Drugs…”
    • Basically, make it that criminal drug dealers can deal again legally.
  • The Washington Post reported: “It also would provide for the expungement of federal marijuana convictions dating to 1971 and bars the denial of federal public benefits or security clearances on the basis of marijuana offenses.”
    • It was illegal in 1971. The criminals knew what they were doing in 1971 was illegal. Why do they now get a pass?
    • I don’t want any stoner to have a security clearance.
  • Republicans who voted for the bill were Representatives Matt Gaetz (FL), Brian Mast (FL), and Tom McClintock (CA).
    • This isn’t that much a surprise. These guys are probably more libertarian in philosophy.
    • I’m surprised that only these three Republicans voted for it.
  • Democrats are framing the legislation as one that promotes “racial justice.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA) said:

“This landmark legislation is one of the most important criminal justice reform bills in recent history.”

Representative Barbara Lee (D-CA) said:

“Make no mistake: Yes, it is a racial justice bill. According to the ACLU, Black Americans are nearly four times more likely to be arrested for cannabis and related crimes than White Americans, despite equal rates of use. These arrests can have a detrimental impact on a person’s quality of life and can lead to difficulty finding employment, securing housing and accessing other benefits.”

Jerry Nadler said:

“(This bill) would set a new path forward and would begin to correct some of the injustices of the last 50 years. Whatever one’s views are on the use of marijuana for recreational or medicinal use, the policy of arrests, prosecution, and incarceration at the federal level has proven both unwise and unjust.”

Of course, Conservative Republicans who didn’t vote for the bill like to point out the problem. Rep. Jim Jordan said:

“The left will not let the Democrats do what needs to be done with the inflation problem, the energy problem, the illegal immigration problem on the southern border. So what do they do? They legalize drugs. Wow.”

He added, “This is wrong and everybody knows it. … Let’s focus on the things that matter.”

Of course he’s absolutely right. The good news is this is not going to get through the Senate which the House knows. So that kind of puts an exclamation point on Jordan’s point.

What I Think

I’m against drug legalization for a few reasons:

  • Drugs like pot, crack, even alcohol really serve no purpose in society if used for medicinal purposes.
    • I do believe pot had medicinal purposes and should be allowed to be prescribed by a real doctor.
    • Once a drug is legalized, it is impossible to make it illegal again. Cigarettes and alcohol are examples of this.
  • It makes society dumber and lazier. What happened in Colorado is an example of that.
  • There are a lot of misconceptions about pot.
    • It is a gateway drug.
    • It is addictive.
    • It is worse for people than cigarettes.
      • It contains more nicotine.
      • It burns hotter than cigarettes making it worse for the lungs.

According to WebMD, the side effects of long term pot smoking will lead to:

  • Altered brain development in younger people (age 25).
  • Lower IQ.
  • Less satisfaction and achievement.
  • Symptoms of chronic bronchitis, and increased rates of respiratory infections and pneumonia.
  • Chronic psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia, in people who are predisposed to them.
  • Experts have linked regular marijuana use to higher risks of anxiety and depression.
  • An increased heart rate for up to three hours after smoking, raising risks of heart attack.
  • Temporary hallucinations and paranoia.
  • It’s been linked to lung and testicular cancers.

This is what the pro-pot politicians aren’t telling you. But, like Jordan said, if they can keep us all stoned, we won’t see the crappy job they are doing and will be dumb enough to accept how crappy our country is becoming.

Like I  have said more than once, pot is Huxley’s soma from Brave New World.

Here’s Something Fun

We talked about Disney going woke and Oreo going woke. Well, Cracker Jacks has decided to go woke in the support a feminism.

According to the Daily Wire:

Cracker Jack will repackage its snacks in 5 special-edition bags featuring women of different races, to represent girls in sports. The bags will be on sale in professional ballparks around the country, and anyone who donates $5 or more to the Women’s Sports Foundation through the Cracker Jill website will receive a free bag. Frito-Lay pledged to donate $200,000 to the Women’s Sports Foundation to support gender equality in sports.

On their website, crackerjill.com, they stated:

“Sometimes all it takes to believe you can do something is to see someone who looks like you do it first. It is in this spirit that Cracker Jack Proudly Introduces Cracker Jill. A team of new faces, showing girls that they’re represented, even in our most iconic snacks.”

They also rewrote the words to Take Me Out to the Ballgame. I listened to it so you do to:

That did it! Women now have equal rights!

By the way, what is a woman? I got a feeling this might piss the trans community off.

Episode 487 – Maybe It’s Time to Try Something Different

More bad news for Old Joe.

Republicans question Joe’s competence.

And what the hell is wrong with San Francisco.

Up, Up and Away

According to Fox News:

Inflation surged more than expected in January, notching another four-decade high as strong consumer demand and pandemic-related supply-chain snarls fueled rapid price gains that wiped out the benefits of rising wages for most Americans.

The consumer price index rose 7.5% in January from a year ago, according to a new Labor Department report released Thursday, marking the fastest increase since February 1982, when inflation hit 7.6%. The CPI – which measures a bevy of goods ranging from gasoline and health care to groceries and rents – jumped 0.6% in the one-month period from December.

Economists expected the index to show that prices surged 7.3% in January from the previous year and 0.5% on a monthly basis.

I’m sure it is all apart of our imagination. Or it is all those ruthless corporations making massive profits.

Well, Joe Biden hasn’t said anything about it so far today. I can’t wait to hear what excuses he comes up with today. And inflation is not going down anytime soon.

This is also not helping Joe Biden’s approval rating which reached an all time low. A Real Clear Politics poll had Old Joe is at 39%. The heat is on the Democrats. A total of 29 Democrats are either retiring of running for another office. That’s a lot.

Yeah, I Think It’s About Time

Almost on a daily basis, Joe Biden shows he’s not with us. He stumbles through sentences, sometimes not even getting through the sentence even when it’s written down for him. He rambles. He doesn’t answer any questions and, when he does, it is only from specific reporters. He gets angry very quickly. Half the time, he doesn’t even know who he’s standing with.

According to Fox News:

Nearly 40 Republican lawmakers are calling on President Biden, 79, to take a cognitive test, following the example set by his predecessor, former President Donald Trump.

The Republican push for Biden to undergo cognitive testing comes as recent polls have shown Americans are unsure of the president’s mental fitness for office.

Former physician to the president Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas, led a letter with 37 of his GOP colleagues to Biden on Tuesday expressing their “concern” with Biden’s “current cognitive state.”

They point out that Biden is required to take a physical every year and that is made public but a cognitive test is not required. I personally think everyone should have to take a cognitive test no matter their age. One should definitely have to take the test when one is knocking on the age of 80.

I am not making fun of Biden because I don’t think this is at all funny but Joe Biden is showing signs of senility. I had a family member who had Alzheimer’s disease and Joe Biden is showing those signs. This should be a bipartisan issue. Ronald Reagan had Alzheimer’s Disease and many think it was during his presidency. We should have required a cognitive test after his presidency.

But, as usual, nothing will be done. We will find out he was incompetent years after he leaves the White House and it will be a nothing more than a Wikipedia side note.

Is This Guy Serious?

According to the Washington Free Beacon:

The Biden administration is set to fund the distribution of crack pipes to drug addicts as part of its plan to advance “racial equity.”

The $30 million grant program, which closed applications Monday and will begin in May, will provide funds to nonprofits and local governments to help make drug use safer for addicts. Included in the grant, which is overseen by the Department of Health and Human Services, are funds for “smoking kits/supplies.” A spokesman for the agency told the Washington Free Beacon that these kits will provide pipes for users to smoke crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and “any illicit substance.”

That’s right. No one wants to fix the drug problem that is leading to homelessness, mental health problems, crime and death. They want to encourage the use of drugs.

The article continues:

HHS said the kits aim to reduce the risk of infection when smoking substances with glass pipes, which can lead to infections through cuts and sores. Applicants for the grants are prioritized if they treat a majority of “underserved communities,” including African Americans and “LGBTQ+ persons,” as established under President Joe Biden’s executive order on “advancing racial equity.”

This is the very definition of the bigotry of low expectations. All those blacks and trannies need free crack pipes so they won’t get blisters on their lips. This is about as racist and bigoted as it gets.

The article continues:

Funding for the “harm reduction” grant program is provided through Democrats’ American Rescue Plan, which the Senate passed along party lines after Vice President Kamala Harris cast a tie-breaking vote. Other equipment that qualifies for funding include syringes, vaccinations, disease screenings, condoms, and fentanyl strips. The grant program will last three years and includes 25 awards of up to $400,000.

Throughout the year, we have been hearing from Democrats that Republicans hate American citizens because not one Republican voted for the American Rescue Plan. Could this be one of the reasons they did not approve this? Could the spending of money and the rise of inflation have anything to do with why they didn’t vote for it?

Now, to be straight forward, I believe the government has dismantled this program. I don’t think it’s actually moving forward. But the fact that this program was available shows how bad that bill was.

Here’s the thing, I hold very Conservative views about drug legalization. I don’t think it is a good thing, especially with the harder drugs. I understand that the war on drugs has failed and I understand that responsible people should have the freedom to choose whether of not to use drugs. And I am not talking about drugs for medicinal use. I think pot has a lot of medicinal value and I know people who use it for that reason.

I have two reasons I don’t believe in legalization for drugs. First, casual drug use serves no societal purpose. We have learned this with cigarettes and alcohol. We have tried to ban both because of their detrimental effects of society. We even have an amendment in the Constitution for banning alcohol. It didn’t work because alcohol became too ingrained in society and it was just too difficult to get rid of. We are going to have the same problem with the other drugs. In fact, we already see it. Crack, meth and heroin are already becoming ingrained in our society. New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco have a huge problem drugs which are practically all legal now. People sell it on the street. People use it on the street.

There just is no benefit for it unless a doctor prescribes it for a health condition.

And that brings me to the other point. There is no personal responsibility for one’s bad decisions. In fact, the government feels there should by no consequences at all for one’s poor personal decisions. In the old days, addiction was dangerous because there was no societal safety net. An addicted person was not bailed out by the government. He or she needed to work to live or find themselves in a shelter. That’s not the case anymore. City and state budgets use tax payer money to support these addicts with no goal of getting someone clean. Drug use today is becoming a drag on society and it’s not even being seen as a bad thing by the government.

All this stuff in San Francisco, Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Baltimore and Washington DC can be fixed and I talked about how in a previous podcast. We can fix drug addiction, homelessness and the mental health crisis if we just have the guts to do what would be seen as unpopular.

But allowing people to sell and use drugs with no consequences and giving the drug paraphernalia is not the solution.

I have a lot more to say on this subject because it is so important to me but we will leave that for another podcast.

They Can’t Figure It Out

Speaking of drug addiction, mental illness and homelessness, San Francisco seems to be throwing up their hands and giving up.

According to the Mercury News:

As the Bay Area continues to struggle under the weight of its homelessness crisis, officials and nonprofits are asking local residents to do more than hand out meals or donate spare change. They’re asking them to open up their homes.

Nearly 30,000 people are unhoused in the five-county Bay Area and there isn’t nearly enough room in the region’s existing affordable housing developments. To fill the gaps, service providers increasingly are recruiting private landlords to take in homeless tenants. Some property owners are renting out entire units in exchange for agreements that the government or a nonprofit will cover the rent. Others are offering up spare bedrooms in their homes – sometimes in exchange for a small stipend, and sometimes as a purely charitable act.

But it’s hard to find owners willing to take a chance on someone down on their luck. At least one program recently ended because of a lack of landlord interest.

Some things:

  • 30,000 people homeless (and that’s probably low) makes up 1% of the population of the Bay Area (3,313,000). That’s a lot.
  • The government is shocked that people don’t want a homeless person living in their house?

The article, of course, uses a woman who has a kid and was homeless and found a place to live as an example of the benefits of this program. I think that’s great. This woman fell on hard times and the government should help her until she can get on her feet. But she’s not the typical case when it comes to homelessness.

There is a book called San Fransicko by Michael Shellenberger that explains the failure of the government in the Bay Area when dealing with the homelessness crisis. Shellenberger is not a Conservative. He’s liberal. He used to work with the city to deal with the homeless. He had some pretty salient points:

  • It is not a right to be homeless and that’s because it steps on the rights of others.
  • People can’t just be given housing. They have to earn it.
    • If they’re drug addicted, they should be sober.
    • If they are mentally impaired, they should go through treatment and use the medication they are prescribed.
    • If they are out of work, they should be looking for a job.
  • Housing should be temporary, not permanent.
  • Property values are way too high in the Bay Area. That’s due to:
    • Rent control.
    • Regulations.
    • People who own land don’t want to build rental property because they don’t want the hassle. They don’t make a profit.
  • Finally, a lot of homeless people don’t want housing!

The Bay Area has been dealing with this for decades. Only now with the defund the police movement and legalizing crime is the homeless problem beginning to come to light. Maybe the Bay Area should try a different solution because what they’ve been doing hasn’t been working. In fact, it’s getting worse.

Episode 374 – Clueless

Bill Cosby is free because the system worked, not because he is innocent.

Leftist policies aren’t helping crime and Dems are trying to find a new narrative.

And California is a crap show and they are starting the second act.

Justice Can Suck

In a surprise ruling, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court threw out the conviction of sexual assault against a woman known as Andrea Constand. Cosby was convicted of drugging and having sex with the woman when she was unable to consent. Cosby, apparently, had done this multiple times throughout his life but the statute of limitations prevented him from being convicted by more women.

This is what happened:

  • During the investigation, the initial District Attorney said that they could not try Cosby for the crime for lack of physical evidence. It would turn out to be a he said/she said case.
  • Cosby was told he would not be tried. This eliminates the 5th Amendment protections.
  • Cosby was being sued by the woman and testified in the civil trial. He admitted doing what he was initially accused of.
  • A new prosecutor took over and used Cosby’s testimony in the civil trial against Cosby in a new criminal trial.
  • This violated his 5th Amendment rights. Kind of an easy call.
  • The other issue that should have been handled by the judge during the criminal trial was the testimony of the other women who accused Cosby. This should have been stopped because it is not evidence and is prejudicial.
  • Cosby was convicted and sentenced to 3-10 years. He has already been through a parole hearing after two years and was denied.
  • The case finally go to the state supreme court which overturned the case due to prosecutorial misconduct.
  • Cosby cannot be tried again because of double jeopardy.

After he was released, Cosby and his representatives made a statement. It was a pretty silly statement:

Couple things about this:

  • Bill Cosby is not innocent. He got off on a technicality.
  • The prosecution bungled this thing from the start.
  • This shows that the #MeToo movement probably influenced the court system.
  • Though it is not fair because Cosby is guilty, the system worked. Due process was violated by an over anxious DA and Cosby was let go. Remember that this could happen to you and you may be innocent.

Gaslighting

The Left is in trouble. Crime is out of control and, suddenly, their talk of defunding the police is becoming very unpopular. They have decided that they need to take a different route on this defunding the police thing. Best way to do that is start lying.

There are a few lies they are going to push. the first is the most idiotic. It’s the Republicans that are for defunding the police. Listen to Jen Psaki making this crazy proclamation:

Even Peter Duecy seems absolutely shocked by this statement. He sat there and just stared at her. He didn’t ask her another question about it until the next day and she just doubled-down on it.

Something to be aware of: American Rescue Plan did have some money for law enforcement. But it also had about $2 trillion on other garbage. There was no way Republicans, in their right mind, would have approved this bill. It was a garbage pork bill. Just because the Republicans passed on one good thing to get rid of a thousand bad things doesn’t mean that they are against the police.

But that’s not what the media is pushing. They bought Jen’s crap hook, line and sinker.

Jennifer Rubin of the Washington Post released an op-ed saying:

Needless to say, this was not embraced on Twitter:

Yeah, this crap isn’t going to fly. There are terabytes of images from Twitter that show nothing but Leftists screaming about getting rid of the police. What’s worse for them is that their policies are actually defunding the police.

This Broad Again

Lori Lightfoot, the horrid mayor of Chicago, has a better way of explaining crime.

What crime? There’s no crime here.

First, listen to this reporter’s question. It really attacks Lightfoot:

Wow:

  • He points out that the crime in Chicago is insane.
  • His cutting Lightfoot off is pissing her off.
  • He lists several he profile crimes in the recent data.
  • He shows how the culture has changed so much that they now call the “Shopping District” the “Homeless Encampment”.
  • She cuts him off because he’s absolutely right about everything.
  • Then he really lays into her with his question.

Her answer leads to a bigger “wow”.

  • No, we have the facts.
  • People are leaving the city in droves because of the alignment.
  • 40% of residents have said they are going to leave Chicago and a substantial number have already left.
  • She said the 32 businesses have open doors within Chicago. Question: How many have left? I bet there are more than 32.
  • As far as crime going down, that is just a lie. Crime in Chicago is going up. Each weekend is averaging over 50 shootings! That’s per weekend not week. She’s just lying.

I also want to point something out and this is not a criticism. Lightfoot seems to be shaking a lot. Could she have a disorder of some kind like Parkinson’s Disease? I do not mean to make fun of her and I don’t wish that horrid disease on anyone but I have seen several interviews with her and her shaking is something I have noticed every time.

California Really Has It On Point

Why Not? It’s Not Their Money

San Francisco, unable to control their homeless problem has come up with an idea: create a city sponsored homeless encampment. The city of Los Angeles, that has over 60,000 homeless people, is watching with great interest.

  • San Francisco has six city sanctioned homeless encampments throughout the city.
  • The services offered include food, bathrooms, showers and community services such as placement programs.
  • Other services that are not mentioned in the article include needle exchanges.
  • The tents are kept separate for COVID reasons. This means there aren’t a lot of tents in one area (typically 20).
  • There are no rules. The people could come and go as they wished. No consequences.

Of course, Jeff Kositsky who runs the Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing, blames the United States for the homeless problem. He said:

The dynamic on the streets “has to do with the failures of our brand of capitalism, institutional racism, a broken behavioral health system, and none of us who do this work, we’re not going to fix that. What we’re trying to do is manage a really deep systemic issue where homelessness is a very visual depiction of our failures as a society.”

Of course, it has nothing to do with the crappy policies of California and San Francisco that made leasing an apartment in California almost impossible.

At first, it was thought it would cost $2600 per person per month to keep these encampments. Now, with all the services and food, it has been found that it costs between $61,000-70,000 per tent, mostly because more people are living in them.

Good job, California! Why to spend money that isn’t yours!

This is how we fix this problem:

  • First, it is not a right to live on the street making others lives miserable.
  • There are three types of people on the street for the most part:
    • Drug addicts.
    • Mentally ill.
    • Those that like it.
  • Those that live on the streets because they like it need to find another place.
  • The other two do not need jails. Bring back the sanitarium system.

That’ll Help Too

bill introduced by California state Sen. Scott Wiener (D-San Francisco) that decriminalizes possession of psychedelic drugs in the state made progress Tuesday after he removed a potential date-rape drug from the legislation.

According to the Associated Press, people 21 and older can use:

  • Mushrooms.
  • Mescaline.
  • LSD.
  • MDMA (Ecstacy)

Wiener had to remove ketamine from the bill because it is commonly used as a date rape drug.

Wiener said:

“People’s lives are literally transformed because of these substances.” Fox News has reported regarding recent research into the use of “psychedelic drugs to treat depression, drug addiction, PTSD, and a range of other mental health afflictions.”

I’m not a fan of drug legalization:

  • We have a lot of problems in our cities now because of drugs.
  • There are no consequences. Drug addicts become defacto wards of the state using my tax payer money to support their addictions.
  • Drug abuse is also lowering the standard of living for everyone, not just the drug addicted.
    • More accidents.
    • More homeless.

This is not going to fix California. It is going to get worse.

Part of the Plan

OK, I have to make myself clear. I am not a conspiracy theorist. The opioid crisis is not a government conspiracy. It is a by product of bad policy on the border, a listless medical community that did not check facts, a corrupt pharmaceutical, corrupt doctors and a depressed population going through a struggling economy.

No Alex Jones here. As a matter of fact, This post has little to do with the opioid crisis because the government did not expect it and do not know how to fix it. We will talk about it because I do wonder why no one is doing anything about it. And this is where the Alex Jones within me will come out.

This is going to be another post about Brave New World, the novel written by Aldous Huxley in 1931. As we talked about last week, they way the government controls their people is by making sure they are constantly either working or in a state of pleasure. One of the ways they keep pleasure happy is through the drug Soma. This mythical drug fills the user with temporary pleasure, probably much like the drugs of today, but will leave the user unaffected when they come down from the high. That way they can work unimpeded.

This is the second parallel that really stands out from the book. Drugs in our society have been embraced and I don’t think that’s a good thing. I am probably the only libertarian in the world that does not believe in drug legalization and I have some personal and logical reasons why. I’m sure not everyone who reads this will agree with me.

So let’s talk about drugs!

Marijuana

For the past few decades, there has been a real push to legalize marijuana. I don’t go a day on Twitter without some democratic politician pushing for the legalization of marijuana. The push for legalization started out benign enough. There were a fringe group of stoners who wanted to drug legalized. Their simple reason was that the drug was safer than alcohol (it’s not) and alcohol is legal. I’ll get into that stupid argument later. But this push was never taken seriously. Most people did not see the drug as good and it never was really put on a ballot.

Then it became understood that marijuana did have medicinal purposes. And there are some good properties in marijuana that could serve a purpose. There are two main components of weed that are found to be good: THC and CBD. According to drugabuse.gov, THC can increase appetite and reduce nausea. This is one of the reasons cancer patients will use nausea during treatment. It also decreases pain, swelling and redness and will deal with muscle control problems. CBD is a cannabinoid that will not give someone that high people are aware of. It has been known to control epileptic seizures and treating mental illness and addiction. Scientists are studying the effects of the hundred different cannbinoids that are within marijuana and there is a lot of promise for diseases like cancer and HIV/AIDS. Cannbinoids are produced by the brain. The high that an individual has after a hard workout is the release of endorphins and cannibinoids.

So as marijuana became more accepted as a medicine and legalized for medicinal purposes within some states, shops began popping up. All a person needed to do was be seen by a doctor who would then give that person a medical marijuana card. Here’s where thing: you didn’t need to have cancer or AIDS to get a medical marijuana card. Most doctors at the time would not support the distribution of medical marijuana because it is still illegal federally and not all the studies were in proving its benefits. So the shops would hire their own doctor. He/she would give a quick exam, hear the complaint and, without doubt, give a card. People who had anxiety, sore muscles and joints, loss of creativity and insomnia could get a card. I’m pretty sure those are not the types of illnesses or diseases the states with thinking about when legalizing medical marijuana.

But this did something to our society. It brought pot out of the closet and into the light. Getting caught with pot did not mean an arrest or even a ticket. It started becoming more accepted and easier to get. Even drug dealers had problems competing with the medical marijuana industry. Slowly but surely, pot was becoming mainstream and users were beginning to become vocal about legalization.

The Arguments

The pro-legalization lobby have a lot of arguments. This is from ProCon.org.

  • The first is that pot is safer than alcohol or tobacco and has a lot of benefits for the user.
  • Legalizing would give the government a better way to regulate it and make the quality safer.
  • Pot can be taxed bring billions of dollars for government programs.
  • Pot is far less addictive than other drugs and is not a gateway drug to other, more dangerous drugs.
  • It will lead to less teenage use.
  • DUI arrests may actually lower.
  • Marijuana enforcement is racist because it impacts minorities more than white neighborhoods.
  • Crime will go down.
  • A majority of Americans support legalization

Everyone of these is garbage. So let me go over these:

  • Pot is not safer than either. In fact, there are studies say the opposite. It is bad for those who have not had their prefrontal cortex developed (kids) and there are studies that show that mental function can be impaired and can actually lower IQ points. While smoking, actually burns hotter than cigarettes meaning it has just as much chance of causing cancer.
  • Pot is not safer, it has gotten stronger. New studies have found that the hybrid that is today’s pot can have up to 70% THC. Studies say the see a correlation between smoking pot and depression, loss of memory and even some psychological problems.
  • Pot can indeed bring in billions of dollars but at what cost? Other things that come with pot legalization including unemployment, health problems, homelessness, addiction and other metal disabilities. Seems those billions collected might be going to those problems.
  • Pot is far less addictive than other drugs including alcohol. That’s just not true. Pot addiction is definitely real and it is a gateway drug, meaning the user may try other harder drugs in the future. I have personal experience with this.
  • To say it will lead to less teenage use is just idiotic and makes no sense. Over 75% of student drink alcohol. They do because it’s legal and available. It’s unreasonable to believe that kids will smoke less when it is more available.
  • DUI arrests may actually lower is also a weird argument. Bot because it’s false but because we really don’t have a good way to measure if someone is driving under the influence of pot. Pot stays in one’s system a log longer than alcohol. So it is very common to get a positive test but not be sure if a casual user actually smoke that day.
  • Breaking the law is breaking the law, even if one is black. Saying that more of a race gets popped for weed and that’s racist is just an argument about shaming. Don’t fall for it.
  • As far as crime going down, sure it will. If we legalized murder, crime would go down lower. In San Francisco, they made breaking in cars a infraction. The culprit only gets a ticket. And, now, San Francisco says that their crime rate is down. This is just a lazy argument.
  • It’s true: a majority of Americans do support legalization. But that doesn’t make it right. A lot of Americans support free healthcare, that’s not going to be good. A lot of Americans support free college, that would be a disaster. Just because a lot of people are for something doesn’t mean it’s a good idea.

I am going to throw three more reasons why pot should have been kept illegal.

The first is personal. My son died because of drugs. The drug he started with was marijuana. It wasn’t even alcohol. He then started getting into cocaine, the Oxycontin and, finally, heroin and meth. But it wasn’t just him who suffered. He hung out with a lot of friends who were suffering from the same disease. I don’t know what happened to them but, I know, I didn’t see any of them at his funeral. I wasn’t angry. I just wondered where they were now.

Something I am asked all the time is: You’re a Libertarian. Aren’t you suppose to be for drug legalization? As a Libertarian, we believe that if something does not impede on other people or society, it should be legal. Drug legalization does impede on other people and society as a whole. One who depends on drugs steals, lies, ruins families. I would say that is the very definition of affecting other people. Drug user typically have to get clean, have to deal with the police and the courts, have health problems they typically can’t pay for. They end up unemployed, maybe homeless, depending on social services to survive. That is the very definition of affecting society. I’m being more of a Libertarian by being against drug legalization than those that are for it.

Here’s a question for you. What’s going to happen when we realize we made a mistake and want to, I guess the term is, re-ban the drug? Well, cigarettes were never an option. Too many people smoke and the cigarette companies have a powerful lobby. Alcohol was banned through Prohibition. But the drug we call alcohol was to ingrained into our society. It was impossible to get rid of it. So much so, there is a Constitutional amendment that says they screwed up.

Finally, the worst possible scenario. The Colorado legislature has just passed the legalization of magic mushrooms. The link is below. That means we are now legalizing harder drugs. When id cocaine coming. How about heroin. How about meth. Yeah, mushrooms aren’t as bad as those drugs. But it is harder than pot. I know. I quit mushrooms because of the side effects. We need to stop this train before we legalize everything. And it’s going to be so hard to go back.

So, About Brave New World?

There are only three things that Brave New World needs from its citizens. Obey, enjoy and work. Obey and work is beat into the citizens from conception and birth…er…hatching. Pleasure is a tough one. Huxley came up with only two things that could keep people happy: sex and drugs.

Sex is awesome but drugs last longer.

Next time you’re on Twitter and you see some democrat screaming about legalizing drugs, ask them what good will it bring. They’ll never answer and some hippie will call you a Nazi (which makes no sense). Just remember this, the dumbing-down of America is necessary. It’s the only way to kill the reason that the left keeps pushing.

I was going to write about the opioid crisis but I decided that deserves its own podcast. But I will tell you one thing. This is the conspiracy thing. Why haven’t we solved this crisis yes? Why isn’t anything being done? Why haven’t we stopped drugs from crossing the border? And who is in charge for creating laws that will lock up the border, preventing opioids from coming into this country?

Think about it. See the 3-D picture.
