Episode 265 – Trump’s Hail Mary

Trump’s Hail Mary to the Supreme Court goes for naught.

The Electoral College meets and will vote today.

The vaccine is being handed out starting today but some of the decisions on who gets them is a little strange.

And California continues to run the race for stupidest state in the Union.

Hail Mary

On December 8th, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton filed a lawsuit against the battleground states of Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan and Wisconsin in the United States Supreme Court. According to Paxton’s official government website, he believes that these four states “exploited the COVID-19 pandemic to justify ignoring federal and state election laws and unlawfully enacting last-minute changes,” and that these last-minute changes were responsible for “skewing” the results of the presidential election on November 3rd.

Continuing, the post claims that Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan and Wisconsin — states which are crucial to Biden’s presumed victory — had “flooded their people with unlawful ballot applications and ballots while ignoring statutory requirements as to how they were received, evaluated and counted.”

The lawsuit is being described by critics as a “Hail Mary play for President Donald Trump,” with Sen. Ben Sasse calling the lawsuit a “PR stunt.” However, over 100 GOP members of the House of Representatives disagree, filing an amicus brief supporting Texas’ case. Among these Republicans are Ohio’s Rep. Jim Jordan, Texas’ Rep. Dan Crenshaw, and Florida’s Matt Gaetz.

On Wednesday, seventeen states “filed documents with the Supreme Court,” as Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Indiana, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, and West Virginia joined with Missouri to file an amicus brief supporting Texas.

The next day, Missouri, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Utah “formally joined Texas in its Supreme Court suit.”

In response, the attorneys general for Pennsylvania, Georgia, Michigan and Wisconsin have asked the Supreme Court to reject the lawsuit with “blistering language,” calling the attempt “an affront to democracy and the rule of law.” According to the New York Times, “legal experts” have criticized the basis of the suit, citing that the case relies on the claim that “Texas can dictate how other states run their elections because voting irregularities elsewhere harm the rights of Texans.”

On Friday night, the Supreme Court refused to hear the case

The Electoral College

Today, Monday, the Electoral college gets together. By tonight, Joe Biden will be named President. This is what is going to happen:

  • The electors from each state will get together and vote based on the popular vote in that state. The winner will get all the electors.
  • Several states will have a split vote based on the the voting percentages. Nebraska and Maine are states that will give voted to both Biden and Trump.
  • Seventeen states will have faithless electors. These people vote for the candidate they feel should have been chosen. How states treat faithless electors is dependent on the state.

Trump vows that he will continue to fight even if he loses the electoral college. That doesn’t mean much. The window is closing for Trump and, so far, he has lost all but one court battle (out of 49) and the Supreme Court will not take up any of the cases.

A Big Victory

The Debate Continues

The FDA has approved Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine through an emergency use authorization, clearing the way for Americans to receive inoculations against COVID-19 for the first time since the pandemic was declared in March, according to multiple reports.

The first vaccines should be released on Monday. Frontline workers and the elderly will be the first to receive the vaccine. This is a huge victory for Donald Trump. He created laws that allowed a vaccine that should have taken 5 to 10 years to create in less than a year. Joe Biden is going to receive the fruits of this victory and he deserves none of it. Especially since his running mate said she would not trust the vaccine since it came out if this White House, like Trump was actually producing the vaccine in the White House basement.

This brings up the debate: Should we take the vaccine?

I was talking to Josie, my fiancé, who works in a clinic as a medical assistant. Needless to say, she is a front line worker. She said she would not take the vaccine even if it was a requirement for her to work there. We had a nice long talk about it on Saturday night. Here’s what we came up with:

  • Risk versus Reward: Is the virus more dangerous than taking a vaccine? I don’t think so.
  • Has the vaccine been suitably tested? I think so. I doubt companies are going to release something that will kill people.

I do not have a problem with vaccines but I also don’t like sticking crap into my body unless there is a real reason. I usually don’t take aspirin when I get a headache (unless it’s really bad). My job requires me to take a flu shot every year. And I do without argument. That doesn’t mean I like it.

Though I doubt there are any side effects from the vaccine, I just don’t think it’s worth it because I am in the age group that is not a threat. I have a 99.8% survival rate if I contract the China virus. It’s not like it’s polio or the measles or anything. Yes, it’s easier to contract and deadly than the flu but I have more of a chance dyeing in a car accident than by the China virus.

I do think those who are older and those that have pre-existing conditions should take the vaccine. For them, this virus is deadly. I would never recommend that someone who is in danger of dying should avoid the vaccine. I’m just not sure it’s necessary for someone like me.

The Media Gets Skunked Again

When Trump announced in August that there would be a vaccine by the end of the year, the media made asses of themselves.

NBC actually fact-checked the President:

“Fact check: Coronavirus vaccine could come this year, Trump says. Experts say he needs a ‘miracle’ to be right.”

I guess Trump is a miracle worker.

NPR said that Trump, “contradicting the CDC,” said a COVID-19 vaccine could be ready by the end of 2020.

The next day, another NPR article featured the transcript of one of its programs knocking Trump for suggesting the vaccine would be ready by the end of the year. The outlet used testimony from CDC Director Robert Redfield before a Senate panel that month, in which he said the vaccine would not be ready until the spring or summer of 2021.

CNBC said:

“President Trump says Covid-19 vaccine will be coming by the end of the year, despite contrary evidence.” The article featured footage from the presidential debate between Trump and Democratic nominee Joe Biden in which NBC News’ Kristen Welker noted Trump administration health experts saying a vaccine wouldn’t be ready until 2021 and asking Trump if his predictions were “realistic.”

Well, we have a vaccine. Is anyone going to apologize? Of course not. The media is now trying to find a way to give credit to Joe Biden. Kind of hard to do since all Old Joe can think of is that everyone should wear a mask.

Only in California

The Los Angeles Times reports, “the move came in response to a lawsuit filed in April by the American Civil Liberties Union against Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes, seeking the release of medically vulnerable and disabled inmates as well as necessary measures to protect those remaining in the jails from the coronavirus.”

According to Judge Peter Wilson:

“The uncontested facts found here include that conditions in the jail do not permit proper social distancing, there is no mandatory testing of staff or asymptomatic detainees after intake, and no strictly enforced policy of requiring masks for all staff interaction with inmates.”

Sheriff Don Barnes said:

“If the order stands, it will result in the release of more than 1,800 inmates. Many of these inmates are in pre-trial status for, or have been convicted of, violent crimes and will be released back into the community. This order puts our community at substantial risk and does not take into account the impact on the victims of these crimes.”

As the Los Angeles Times reported:

The judge ordered Barnes to reduce the population in all congregated living areas by 50%, including all dormitory and barracks-style housing and multi-person cells. He also instructed Barnes to provide a release plan by Dec. 31 that lists all medically vulnerable inmates, and to identify measures to protect all people in that category who won’t be released or transferred from jail.

He ordered Barnes to maintain the reductions “until the current COVID-19 emergency is declared terminated” and to impose a strict policy for staff members to wear face masks anytime they are within six feet of an inmate.

Is there ever going to be anything that makes being a felon a person that needs to be punished? A strong flu is now going to release felons?

And the Pendulum Swings

I read an article today. It discussed the Pillars of Society and how they are being controlled by a certain political group of people (conservative or liberal in ideology. I will not say which). He believed that if these pillars were controlled by that group of people, it could mean the end of our democratic society (we are actually a democratic republic, which kind of protects us from what he is talking about, but it does not matter. His article was a little off, as far as I am concerned).

Now, I did not agree with this guy. I thought his hypothesis was right on but his argument was way off. I will not say where he leans and where I lean. I just hope that this article will make you think. I want you to determine where you society is swinging, if it is swinging at all. My opinion is set and does not really matter.

I heard about the Pillars of Society in college. I cannot remember the origins but I believe it was a philosophy from way back. The Pillars are the buttresses that determine our morality and how we interact and behave with others through day to day life. Though they are absolute, their importance and meaning can be influenced, weakening or strengthening their influence. To create a visualization, imagine a pillar that is embedded into the ground. The pillar may be on hard, solid ground, easily able to hold up the roof of the structure. But, on the other hand, it might be built on sand, making it sink and unable to hold the roof. Eventually, the roof collapses.

Time to complete the image. The ground represents the the belief system of the people. How the people feel about the importance of the pillar (I know, the ground does not have a belief system. Just go with it). The roof represents society.

Society being the roof is an important metaphor. Dictionary.com defines society as “an organized group of persons associated together for religious, benevolent, cultural, scientific, political, patriotic, or other purposes”. The purpose people live together is to feel safe much in the same way that a roof protects you from the elements. The larger the society, the safer the group of people feel. Protected from other societies and from the rogue element within their own society (crime).

But the strength of society depends on the strength of those pillars. If (I should say “when” as all societies eventually decline) those pillars deteriorate either through a breakdown in the pillar or a rejection of that system all together, it can make one see the decline of that particular society (or civilization).

As an example, the family is considered a pillar. At one point in our civilization, the family unit was very important (that does not mean there was no dysfunction). If you got pregnant, you got married. Families rarely divorced. There was a patriarch who was responsible for bringing home the money and there was a homemaker who took care of the children and home. Today, most children are born out of wedlock. Divorce is common and an absent father is not unheard of. Some see this as the destruction of the family unit and a collapse of the family pillar.

Again, I am not going to give my opinion. My goal is only to inform you of the major aspects of a society. It is up to you to determine how those pillars are being effected by the things that are happening. In my next article I will write about the Pillars of Society: Government, Family, Business, Media, Education, Religion and Arts & Entertainment.

As I have brought up in my last post, there are seven pillars for society. Every news story you hear (true or not) effects one or more of those pillars. When the influence of politics becomes corrupted or unbalanced that is when the pillars weaken.

Again, I am not here to tell you what is happening to them. You want to know, ask in the comments. The reality is that the political affiliation you hold may make you see the corruption or strengthening of the pillars whereas someone of the opposite affiliation may see something completely different. The fact is, we really will not know what the future holds. But, be aware, someone is right. If I believe that the pillars are weakening and you believe they are strengthening because you hold different political beliefs, one of us is right.

Also, issues that arise may effect multiple pillars, not just one. For example, the separation of church and state (one of the most misread quotes in history. It is not in the Constitution) effects multiple pillars.

So here we go.

Government

Government is also known as the Law. Government is commonly used because it creates the law. Our government is easy. According to the Constitution, states have precedence over federal law. The only time federal law overrides is in times of war and interstate disputes. Law should not be confused with morality. The law states what is acceptable for our society, not what is moral. The big questions when it comes to government is the amount of participation (or interference) the federal government should have over state rights? Also, who should create law or regulation (congress or bureaucratic agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency)? The Affordable Care Act and Common Core are typically seen as governmental issues.

Family

Family is defined as “a group consisting of parent(s) and children living together in a household” (Google dictionary). The family’s main purpose is to have children and raise them to be able to fit in to society. The family is also a moral compass. It is suppose to teach the children how, not only to live according to society’s rules, but also to learn right from wrong. Political issues effecting the family would be crime, abortion, drug abuse, child abuse and gay marriage.

Business

Business is also known as the economy. Economy is defined as “the production, distribution, or trade, and consumption of goods and services by different agents in a given geographical location” (Google dictionary). This determines how much money we earn and from where (work or social programs) and where our jobs come from (service or manufacturing). Issues regarding business include environmental protection and regulation, tax reform, welfare reform, trade deals, the decline of the middle class, unemployment, the Affordable Care Act and illegal immigration.

Media

Media has become far more complicated. It used to be where we got our news. In the old days, this came from television and radio news, newspapers and magazines. But now it comes from social media sites, cable news, main stream web sites and fringe websites. In the old days, news was neutral (this happen to who and when). Not so much anymore. News of both sides has become very partisan and is used to bring people to a particular political conclusion (MSNBC and Fox News are examples). The media effects all of the pillars depending on that source’s political agenda. I feel this is a scary pillar.

Education

Education is “the process of receiving or giving systematic instruction, especially at a school or university” (Google dictionary). When we send our kids to school, we expect our kids to learn the basics (at least I do) such as math, reading and science. But we also expect our children to develop their belief systems and. preferably, with their own thoughts through the process of reasoning. Education is also suppose to make our children productive members of society who also understand how to meld into society. Issues Common Core, Charter Schools, voucher programs, crime, drug use, race, poverty and partisan (union or tenured) teachers.

Religion

Karl Marx said of religion:

“Religion is the sigh of the oppressed creature, the heart of a heartless world, and the soul of soulless conditions. It is the opium of the people”

But, in society, it is the moral compass. Murder is wrong. Adultery is wrong. Children are the reason of marriage and they must be raised with the same belief system. Law is what is socially acceptable in society. Religion is what is morally acceptable to be a human being. Religion touches all the pillars. Issues involving religion include “separation of church and state,” abortion and gay marriage.

 Arts & Entertainment

Arts and entertainment is also known as the culture of the society. That includes art, literature, music, stage, movies and television shows. Though most stories you may hear do not involve the Arts and Entertainment pillar, this pillar has become very influential and there are not many actors that so not use their celebrity to express their opinions. With a lot of the population embracing Pop Culture (especially in the cities), this pillar has become very influential (and you really see that during the elections). This pillar can effect all of the other pillars through influence.

When watching the news or thinking about the direction of our civilization, think about these pillars. News stories can can confusing and random and their effects may not be clear. That goes also for the true state of our society. With this model, one can actually see how and what part of society is effected  and reason can be used to come up with a conclusion

No, Not Good

There were to mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio. This follows the attempted mass shooting in Gilroy, California. The two shootings prove one thing and really washes out all of the reasoning that the media and the left try to establish. Let’s talk about the stories and perpetrators, the media and political reactions and, finally, what the hell is going on in this country?

El Paso, Texas

The first shooting occurred at the Cielo Vista Mall. It started in the parking lot and ended up finishing in a Walmart. The 21-year-old male used an AK-47 (or a version of it). At the time of this, 22 people have been killed and 26 have been injured. Because this kid was interested in being famous, which most of these people want, I won’t use his name. You can look it up elsewhere.

He did leave a manifesto and I did read it. I do believe in reading manifestos. I think it is important to know what was going through the minds of these people. One doesn’t have to believe in what they’re saying, after all. I also think it’s important to be able to shuffle through the BS being spewed by the media both on the left and the right. It was really out there. He is a white supremacist who believes that illegal immigration will create a political coupe in Texas, making it a democratic state. He also believes illegal immigrants have advantages over U.S. citizens. Right now, they take low paying jobs but in the future, through programs like Title IX, they will be able to get better educated and get higher paying jobs. He also believed that illegal immigration would lead to the bankruptcy of social services that will be needed when services, which are human-based now, will be automated. The social services include Universal Basic Income. He also believed that the environment is important. The more illegals who come in, the more damage to the environment is done. He blamed democrats and republicans. Democrats for the open borders and republicans for supporting low wages for corporations.

So what’s the story about this kid? He’s an alt-right, white supremacist. I’ve heard the term from right-wing news outlets that he is an eco-fascist. I’n not sure about that. I recall he only mentioned the environment once. He did mention the video game, Call of Duty, which is something people did address as part of his problem. Yeah, I doubt it. Sounds like he’s just a hateful coward. When he was looking down the wrong side of a gun barrel, he gave up right away. But he is alt-right and probably a Trump supporter.

Dayton, Ohio

At 1 AM on Sunday morning, the shooter, his sister and a mutual friend arrived at the Oregon District. This area was a street lined with bars and a lot of nightlife. So it was a pretty crowded place. At some point, the shooter got separated from his group. A few minutes later, the gunman appears and starts shooting. In the end, 9 were dead and 27 were injured. Among the dead was the shooter’s sister.

Believe it or not, this could have been a whole lot worse. The shooter was heading into a crowded bar when he faced police. The whole incident took about thirty seconds. The shooter had an “AK-47” type .223 caliber rifle with a modified ammo drum. The rifle itself was purchased legally but the ammo drum was illegal. He was also wearing body armor, a mask and ear protection proving that this was a planned event.

Information about the shooter is kind of trickling in. What we know is that he has been in trouble a few times. He was suspended from his high school for having a “kill” and “rape” list. There were friends who said they had little doubt that he was planning to shoot up the school. He was also once pulled from a school bus because there were suspicions about what he might carry out in school that day. There was another incident, while at a camp, that he had an altercation with a friend and he started choking her. The incident left bruises on her neck.

Though this is something the media won’t bring up much, he was a strong supporter of the radical left, including being an Elizabeth Warren fan. On social media, he would frequently berate conservatives and spew left wing propaganda. He was no lover of the right.

So, What About These Guys

Apparently, both had troubled upbringings. Both came from broken homes. Though nothing could be substantiated, both seemed to experience and be the cause of bullying. Both had been n trouble with the law when they were juveniles. But we need more information than is available. Both planned this and both used weapons that were not exactly legal. The AK-47 type weapon that the El Paso shooter used was banned federally in 1989. The weapon the Dayton shooter was using was purchased legally but was using an ammunition drum that held way over the legal limt (some saying close to a hundred rounds). Breaking the law was not an issue with both.

The last thing they had in common was that both are absolutely insane. Both showed no feeling during the killings and looked to have no remorse. What is interesting and something we should all learn from is that these two were also on the opposite sides of the political spectrum. The El Paso shooter was an alt-right white supremacist with climate change sympathies (left wing, yes, though I’m not sure I buy this) and the Dayton shooter was a radical leftist socialist (though I cannot be sure politics had anything to do with his attack).

Politics was brought into this way too quickly. In fact, I would say we are still calling it too early. We aren’t sure why the Dayton shooter went off at all yet. Politics, though, was irrelevant. These two were insane and these instances would have never been prevented. It was going to happen no matter what the politics were. As the El Paso shooter said he felt this long before Trump was in the White House.

After All, This Is A Presidential Race

The media and our politicians have gone overboard in politicizing these shootings, and all the other shootings. They see this as the narrative to damn Trump and the Second Amendment. The first one to do this, unsurprisingly, is Robert “Beto” O’Rourke. He holds a little more influence to the media. Not only is he a democratic Presidential candidate but he was also a representative from that district. Let listen to to Beto’s initial response:

What crap. He’s, indirectly, playing victim for the entire El Paso community. He’s trying to convince to world that Trump is the problem. And he’s doing it for political gain. What I’m not showing you in this article is doubled down and started cussing when questioned. Listen to me podcast. You’ll hear it.

Booker also chimed in. Lesten:

Is it a coincidence that the two presidential candidates that are going nowhere are the first to jump on every news station and start blaming Trump for the shooting? Don’t get me wrong. All the candidates are blaming Trump! It’s crap.

Conservatives didn’t blame Bernie Sanders for the Republican softball shooting that almost killed Steve Scalise. Conservatives didn’t blame Elizabeth Warren for the shooting in Dayton, Ohio that killed nine. Conservatives didn’t blame Barrack Obama for the mass police shooting in Dallas, Texas by the Black Lives Matter sympathizer. You know why conservatives didn’t blame these people and their rhetoric? Because they had nothing to do with it and never told anyone to shoot anyone!

All this garbage, politicizing something that isn’t political, is deflecting us from addressing the true problem.

Sick!

When we blame politics on tragedies like this, we ignore the real problem. The reality, gun violence has gone up. Mass killings are not the only violence that are being committed. Chicago, Baltimore and Washington DC have dozens of shootings and killings. Most committed by our youth and most black on black crimes. No one seems to care. Suicides are way up with our youth.

What’s going on? Is it bad politics? Is it Trump? Is it the republicans?

No, it’s society. Our society is sick. The foundation of our culture is cracked and crumbling. I think it is time to talk about it. But first we need to talk about what makes up society. In the next article, I will sift through the archive of my last blog and we will look at the seven pillars that make up a society. Then we will look how the damage is effecting our youth. Finally, how we can fix it.

Just Delicious!

Oh, last week was a tough week for Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. First, she unloads on Nancy Pelosi, the Speaker of the House and it does not go well for her. Then her chief-of-staff brain farts and spills the beans about the Green New Deal. Finally, she tries to nail a former ICE Director and he lights her up.

This broad screws up so much, we could almost have weekly, hour-long podcasts. But this really shows us something about the democratic party.

Implosion Has Commenced

Nancy Pelosi has had it tough. Yes, she became Speaker of the House again but she also picked up four of the toughest new congressman the United States has ever seen. She is a progressive politician (after all, she is from San Francisco). But her leadership has been put in jeopardy by four new congressman: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Talib Ayanna  Pressley and Ilhan Omar. We talked about Ilhan Omar yesterday. Today, let’s go over the de facto leader of the democratic party, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. We talk about her a lot, but she has really stuck her foot in it last week.

Speaker Pelosi does have some generational issues. She older, been in Congress since 1791 and has a hard time relating to this generation. She does not understand how to use social media and has a lot of trouble creating excitement for any the democratic ideas. So she is having real issues relating to the later generations. She also is old, has real trouble speaking her points in a coherent fashion and can’t seem the keep the dentures in place. But she is very experienced and knows how to get things done. She is also able to work with the opposite side of the aisle (which has been severely warped since Trump entered office). Though she looks frail and weak because of her slight frame, she is tough as a pit bull. Now, don’t get me wrong here. I hate her as a politician and a person. I think her ideas suck and cringe at the thought she is third in line to the presidency. I also think she amoral. But these are all ideological differences.

Ocasio-Cortez is the complete opposite. She is young, pretty and vicious. She is the queen of social media with five million followers. She speaks authoritatively as to motivate her followers and she can relate to the younger generations. That’s about it. She has a couple of things that leave her a little off. She is really stupid and naive. I tell you, anything that comes out her mouth is illogical, exaggerated and shows she does not know stuff. And she lies. Climate change is not going to end the world in twelve years nor is it worse than World War II. Detention Centers on the borders are not like concentration camps and women in them are not drinking out of the toilet. Her following loves it and will defend her to death (I know, I constantly criticize her on Twitter and you should hear the responses). She also sounds very uneducated though she does have a college degree. Constantly using “like” and “whatever” in sentences make her sound like she wasted a lot of money and time in college. Makes me wonder what she was doing there (probably dancing a lot). She has no experience (this is her first full time job). But, worst of all, she thinks she is right about everything. There is no debate or compromise with her. She will only speak in front of friendly crowds and anyone who does not believe in her ideas is a racist, sexist, homophobe, bigot. It is no wonder she has accomplished nothing since she took her seat.

Ocasio-Cortez, with all her flaws, has an energy that is infectious. Her ideas, though insane, has been embraced by the democratic party. Other congressman, senators and democratic presidential candidates have embraced her ideas and are running on them. Though most don’t believe in them (with the exception of Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren), these people know it is the only way to get the attention of the leftist base. And this is where Pelosi has had problems. She has lost control of the party. She understands that Ocasio-Cortez’s ideas are a dead end and knows that if the House does not do something outside of investigating Trump, the democrats will lose the presidency and House. Pelosi’s goal is to wrest the power back to her. She did this by minimizing Ocasio-Cortez’s primary win. This clip is from Fox News:

Pelosi is absolutely correct. She primaried a white guy in a Hispanic neighborhood. She won with only 15,000 votes. Her win was not the huge avalanche of an upset that she makes it out to be. Pelosi later pointed out that her social media presence is not as relevant as Ocasio-Cortez makes it out to be. None of the 5 million followers actually had anything to do with getting her elected.

Pelosi also minimized the policies of the left and the level of support from Congress for those policies. Listen to Pelosi say that the leftist congresswoman is not as powerful as everyone thinks they are.

Pelosi is right except there are only three, maybe four leftists in congress that have any type of influence (Ayanna Pressley is really in the shadows). I also want to point out, though Pelosi’s words seem very cutting, she still is very awkward and clumsy when she speaks. This is part of the reason she is going to have a hard time winning this war with AoC. She’s just not very…motivating and convincing. She does not speak from strength but from reason and the left is not about reason, they are about emotion. But that’s my commentary. I will continue with the story.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is not one who is going to take Pelosi’s garbage. So she hit back in an interview with the Washington Post:

“When these comments first started, I kind of thought that she was keeping the progressive flank at more of an arm’s distance in order to protect more moderate members, which I understood. But the persistent singling out . . . it got to a point where it was just outright disrespectful . . . the explicit singling out of newly elected women of color.”

Um, huh? Did she just call Nancy Pelosi, one of the most progressive Speakers of the House in history, a racist? Well…sort of…maybe…not really…but… Listen to this from a short interview while walking through the halls of the House. See, Nancy isn’t a racist, but she is calling her out for singling out the four people who are getting a lot of death threats.

The balls on this gal. She will do anything to make her and her minions victims. You would think she would stop, that people just aren’t buying her crap. But she is not that bright. She kept on about how Nancy Pelosi was assigning her to a bunch of committees. In an interview last week, she said:

“The last time I kind of spoke to her one on one was when she asked me to join the Select Committee on Climate Change. I was assigned to some of the busiest committees and four subcommittees. So my hands are full. And sometimes I wonder if they’re trying to keep me busy.”

Yeah, Alex, that’s what it must be. You are such a threat to Nancy Pelosi, the two-time Speaker of the House. Or maybe this is your first full time job and you are just not used to working to earn your $175,000 annual salary.

We are going to need to to wait a bit to see what the fallout of this little feud will be. Things are just coming in. But one guy has chimed in. And what President Trump is truly surprising and shoes that this guy has some class.

You know, Nancy Pelosi has called Trump a racist, sexist, cruel and a fascist. Of course, she does not believe in any of that stuff. It is all for the camera and serve her agenda. For the first time, Trump could have spit in her face and he did not. That is class.

But this hot mess shows us a few things. First, the democrats always go to the race card (or sexist, or bigot, or Nazi) whenever they don’t get what they want or someone calls them out. Pelosi is not innocent of this. Pelosi is not a racist, and neither are most of the people accused,  but now they are in the sights of the people of their own allies because they are not following their agenda. You’ll recall, Biden was called a racist during the democratic presidential debates by Kamala Harris. Pelosi deserves it and I cannot wait to hear her responses next week.

The next thing we see is that the democratic party is in shambles. There are three subsets of the party: the liberals (Biden), the progressives (Pelosi) and the far left (AoC). They can’t live with each other because each thinks they are right. There is no room for debate.

Stay tuned. This ain’t over. It’s going to be so much fun to watch.

Loose Lips Sink Ships

If you have read the Green New Deal, you know that this is nothing but socialism disguised as a way to solve the supposed “climate crisis”. Knowing how dumb AoC is, people could believe that she really thinks overturning the government and economic systems would actually solve any climate crisis.

Ocasio-Cortez’s chief-of-staff, and supposedly the brains of AoC’s policies, Saikat Chakrabarti made a rather large boo-boo. He admitted to Sam Ricketts, climate director for Washington State’s Gov. Jay Inslee (D) and a Washington Post reporter that the Green New Deal really had nothing to do with climate. The goal of the deal was to transform the government. According to Washington Post, Chakrabarti said:

“The interesting thing about the Green New Deal is it wasn’t originally a climate thing at all. Do you guys think of it as a climate thing? Because we really think of it as a how-do-you-change-the-entire-economy thing.”

Oh…My…God! This could not have been on purpose!

Conservatives and most democrats thought this policy was nothing more than a socialist take over. Heck, the policy was skunked in the Senate. It received zero votes in the senate. But this revelation is going to have serious consequences on Ocasio-Cortez’s credibility. There is already calls to have Chakrabarti head and democrats are attacking the policy. This is going to grow. Just wait for it.

Putting In Her Place

For some reason, Congress decided to have an inquiry into the border crisis. Last I heard everybody and their mother’s cousin has gone down to the border and saw what is happening. So I’m not sure what this hearing is all about and I’m pretty sure it is not going to accomplish anything. Just more of a waste of time. It was awesome though. It shows how dumb AoC (and a bunch of the other democrats) is and what happens whenever she is challenged with someone who has the intelligence and experience in the real world.

In this clip, AoC is questioning Thomas Homan, the outspoken former Director of ICE. He is being questioned about a memo he signed enforcing the “Zero Tolerance” policy. This is the policy that will detain illegal aliens as if they are, well, criminals of the United States, which they are. But the only thing AoC can focus on is that when an illegal alien gets arrested while with a child, the child is taken away from the criminal. In her words, child separation. This is so awesome.

Thomas Homan has been in law enforcement for thirty-four years including time on the New York City police force. This is one tough cookie and is not going to take guff from some 29-year-old, dumb-as-a-rock bar tender. And did you see AoC’s face? You could tell she was going through a butt-pucker moment because she had absolutely no answer. Just priceless.

Conclusion

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez had a really bad week last week. Remember we talked about how she is one we have to watch because she is the future and is dangerous? Yeah, she just got knocked down a couple of pegs. And I did not even bring everything up for the week. I did not include the latest Axios poll stating that 76% of people recognize her and only 22% have a favorable view of her. Or that a democrat and a republican are suing her for blocking them on her Twitter feed. Or that she testified in front of Congress, demanding that she be put under oath even though she did not need to be, about her visit to the ICE detention center and what she witnessed. And she may have lied about it. Oops. I’m pretty sure perjury in front of Congress is frowned upon.

The news cycle is going crazy right now. I can’t keep up. The stupid is seeping into this week. I almost skipped this article because of what happened yesterday involving the self-proclaimed “Squad”. This is the Fantastic Four of the communist faction of the democratic party: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Rashida Talib, Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Pressley. Trump made a, I think, rather inadvisable and clumsy Tweet. I understood what he said but it could be, and was, misconstrued into being something racist or, at least, xenophobic. Leave it to these four idiots, they hold a press conference and completely exonerate Trump.

Yeah, I think I’ll hold off on that one. I have a feeling the reaction that is coming in will be interesting.

The Clash of Imbeciles

Trump asserts executive privilege over the Mueller Report while William Barr gets held in contempt. Some of Trump’s tax returns get released and, for some reason, the media is surprised. And the most important story of the week that has been virtually ignore.

William Barr in Contempt

The stupid continues. I guess there must not be anything else happening in the world or in this country.

Oh, yeah. There is. But we are still going to focus on the non-crime.

Last week, Attorney General William Barr refused to testify in front of the House Judiciary committee last week over the format of the interview. Rep. Nadler (D.-NY), the chair, then requested the Mueller Report fully un-redacted. That includes Grand Jury testimony, information hidden for national security and information to protect witnesses. In all, less than 10% of the report was redacted.

Of course Barr is not going to do that. He can’t. What was redacted is required to be redacted by law. But that did not stop Nadler for threatening Barr with a Contempt of Congress charge. Barr went to Trump and requested he assert Executive Privilege to block Congress’ attempt to find Barr in contempt. And that’s what Trump did this morning.

But that didn’t stop Congress. The Judiciary Committee voted to find Barr in contempt. It will now go to the rest of Congress where the Democrats have a majority.

So what does this mean? Executive Privilege is actually a very vague term. That’s why it is not used very often. Basically, it protects the President in a few ways. Attorney client privilege and state secrets fall under the act. Also, conversations between advisers and foreign countries is protected. But we really don’t know if this is protected because we don’t know what is in the redacted portions of the report.

It is also unclear what will happen with the contempt charge. Barr never lied and the redactions were not done on his own or with the President. Mueller and Rosenstein, no fans of the President, had input on what was to be redacted. So did the FBI, CIA and other agencies. The redactions are legitimate.

This whole thing is going to end up in court. And it is a waste of time and money. There’s nothing going to be in the hidden material that is going to change the overall findings in the report. Dems are just wasting time because they have no other leads to impeachment.

But they are doing exactly what everyone thought they would do: Finding any way to keep the narrative alive. Listen, Trump wasn’t perfect. There’s a lot of embarrassing stuff in that report. But Barr didn’t hide anything except what was mandated by the law.

Absolutely nothing is going to come of this.

The Leaks Continue

I’m not sure what’s worse: the fact that Donald Trump lost a lot of money in the 1980s or that the media is so contemptible that they violate the privacy of another American citizen.

The New York Times released an article, declaring that they had the 1040 tax returns of Donald Trump from the year 1985 to 1994. In those tax returns, Trumps businesses had lost $1.7 billion in that decade. The media is absolutely amazed by this. And they are really being vicious about it.

This reaction from the media is probably half the reason Trump doesn’t want to and shouldn’t release his tax records. No matter what is in them, he is going to get blasted. If he makes money, he is part of the 1% and a bad man and shouldn’t be President. If he loses money, which is what we have here, he is incompetent and shouldn’t be President. If he is not worth as much as people thing, the media will just make fun of him. It’s a no win situation.

The media and the democrats keep saying they want to see his tax records because they want to make sure he has not done anything illegal, mind you, without any evidence. Of course, that is a stupid reason to want to see them. It is not the job of Congress to see if Trump broke any laws. That’s the job of the IRS. And Trump has been in business since the 1970s and has never been in trouble with the IRS. So all this is is a way for Democrats to look for more dirt so they can dig up another reason for impeachment.

I’m also a little surprised by everyone being shocked that Trump lost money in the 1980s and 90s. I knew that he lost a lot of money throughout his career. He went bankrupt four times. Everyone knew this. Trump, himself, said he had lost a lot of money. This was all public record. But he media and the Democrats act like this is some big huge surprise. His financial distresses were the reason I did not vote for him in 2016. I was sure his cowboy-style business sense would translate well when running our economy.

I really don’t care if Trump releases his taxes. I don’t think it would be a bad thing because it would be nice to know as much as possible about the country’s President. But I would vote for him in 2020 anyway. I think the reason that Trump is not releasing his tax records is, not because he is doing anything shady, but because of ego. I have a feeling he is not as rich as he makes himself to be. That’s important to Trump. It’s part of the image he has tried to establish for decades.

But I don’t blame him for not releasing them. Look at the mockery he received with the little information.

The Real Story of the Week

It looks like the trade war with China is picking up steam.

The President raised existing tariffs on $250 billion worth of Chinese goods to 25% percent across the board, up from 10% in most cases, and began the process of placing 25% tariffs on a further $325 billion worth of goods. The idea is to even the playing field with China, which has taken advantage of our current trade deals.

For the last couple of days, the Chinese and United States have been negotiating a way to end the trade war. Some assume that the new round of tariffs are to force the Chinese to work harder during the negotiating. But, if that’s the case, it backfired. Chine responded by saying they “deeply regret” the U.S. move and would respond.

President Trump went to Twitter to give his two cents:

So, apparently, Trump is not afraid of going to the mattresses with China. And I can see why. China’s economy is not as strong as ours by any stretch of the imagination. When the United States struggled during the Great Recession at the end of the George Bush term in 2009, China economy fell into a depression. See, the United States is the biggest importer from China. When we are in recession, their economy suffers exponentially. Trump’s thought is, if we use tariffs, we will raise prices on Chinese products, forcing U.S. business and citizens to buy American. This could work but there are still some risks.

First off, tariffs are not as great as President Trump makes them sound. In fact, one could say they are just a tax on all except the industry that it benefits. Let me give you an example. I own a business that builds widgets. Each widget needs a pound of steel. The United States sells steel for $10 a pound but China sells it for $5 a pound. Trump puts a tariff, raising Chinese steel to $15 a pound. Now I have a choice. Do I pay $10 a pound and pass the extra cost onto those who buy my widgets or do I move my factory to Mexico where there are no tariffs and I can get my steel for $5 a pound? Harley Davidson was faced with the same issue. When Trump put a tariff on steel from Canada, Mexico and the EU, Harley Davidson moved their factory to Europe. And Trump was pissed.

The other problem is that China owns 28% of our nation debt, which is never a good thing. We owe China $4.01 trillion of our $22 trillion. That’s a mighty chunk of change. I’d be a little wary to tick off the country that we owe so much money to.

I would rather see Trump fix us instead of attacking China. We need to make our industry stronger and more competitive. First, kill unions. Unions are driving wages way above the value of the work being done and the additional costs are being passed on to the customer. Unions had their place when kids were losing their hand in machines but they have lost their value and have become too powerful.

Next, lower taxes on manufacturers. The less that manufacturers have to pay in taxes, the less it costs to make the product. That leads to reinvestment into the company which leads to jobs. It also lowers the cost of the product. With that, ease unnecessary regulations. Regulations cost businesses money to maintain compliance and some of the things they have to do are really unnecessary.

Along the lines of regulation, let the business control the cost of their labor. Raising minimum wage is a terrible idea. One philosophy of economics I learned in college is that, in a free market system, the worker cannot work for what they’re worth. I can’t remember who said that. But the idea is business will pay a worker a fair wage, which is based on the market. If a business tries to underpay their workers, they will either get a lower quality worker or no workers at all. It’s in the business’ best interest to pay an employee a fair wage. Government shouldn’t be making this determination.

Finally, the United States need to control the debt. And, by that, I mean our real debt. I mentioned this before, but our debt is actually in the vicinity of between $70 and $80 trillion. That’s due to college debt, social security medicare and other expenses. How do we control our debt? Stop spending, especially on programs that just hand money to people. It’s stupid and we will pay for it in the future. I’d hate to see us end up like Greece one day.

Well that was far more on the trade war with China than I thought I would actually right. But it is an important issue.

The Bad and the Stupid

Israel and Hamas declare a cease fire after Hamas launches a huge missile attack. The United States sends an aircraft carrier to the Middle East. Venezuela mulls asking for military support from the United States. And the Left continues to have their priorities all lined up.

Cease Fire Declared

This weekend, brutal fighting has occurred between Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas. In all, Hamas fired 640 missiles, 320 hitting their targets. Four Israelis were killed.

In response, Israel continued it’s policy of “targeted killing” of militant leaders and launched attacks on hundred of targets. It was reported that 24 Palestinians were killed including civilians. One killed was a terrorist who transferred money between the terrorists and Iran.

Egyptian mediators finally negotiated a cease fire between Hamas and Israel. Many Israelis are not happy about this. They believe any cease fire just allows Hamas to recover and regroup. Many believe not enough is being done to eradicate Hamas and other terrorist organizations within the Gaza Strip.

Benjamin Netanyahu refused to confirm the cease fire and has said that operations are ongoing saying, “The campaign is not over and requires patience. We are preparing to continue.”

Israel has been under constant attack by these animals on the Gaza Strip. Of course the media and the Left put the blame squarely on Israel. Israel did not start this weekends violence and their response, though massive, targeted terrorists and their infrastructure including bases, communication centers and weapon depots.

The Palestinians made it clear that a bunch of civilians were killed including two pregnant women, two babies and a toddler. I kind of doubt that. Hamas has been saying that Israel has been killing innocents for years. They do that to stir sympathy from the West. And it works. Especially the the anti-Semitic members of Congress. Look at what the genius Ilhan Omar said:

As usual, she forgot to mention that the Palestinians started it by lobbing nearly 700 missiles this weekend. But she hates Israel and all Jews, so her reaction is hardly surprising. Then there is this genius, Rashida Talib:

Well, I’ll answer her first question: When Hamas decides to get out of the Gaza Strip. The reality is it is Hamas that is suppressing the Palestinians, not the Israelis. In fact, Muslims in Israel are treated with respect and have the same freedoms that the Jewish population has. So this is a stupid statement.

We’ll have to see what happens over the next few days and see if this cease fire holds. But Israel has the right to defend itself and I think they have showed great restraint.

Speak Quietly and Carry a Big Stick

The U.S. is sending an aircraft carrier strike group and bomber task force to the Middle East because of intelligence information about Iran planning attacks on U.S. interests and forces in the area.

The National Security Adviser, John Bolton said the deployments are meant to, “send a clear unmistakable message to the Iranian regime that any attack on the United States interests or those of our allies will be met with unrelenting force.”

The force was already being deployed to the area but the deployment was being expedited.

So that’s awesome. But, at least, we have an administration who will confront terror threats with the threat of force. Iran is run by a bunch of cowards. They won’t face the United States directly. You know why? Because they’d get their butts kick and they know it. So, like a fly to a gorilla, the buzz around and annoy us. They perform cowardly terror attacks with their weak-minded followers. The wage war through other countries like they are doing on the Gaza Strip and in Yemen. They are a terrible country that wants to rule the world.

That’s what make Talib’s and Omar’s Tweets so galling. They keep telling us the United States is the terror state while ignoring the actions and continually supporting regimes like these. Well, the President doesn’t give a damn what they think. He hardly even acknowledges the opinions of these idiots.

In the end, we need condemn and show our power. The United States does not have a lot of friends, especially within the country itself. Heck, we have politicians who run with the promise to make the country better but, in the next breath, say they hate it or have allegiances to other countries. It’s good to see that this country is taking a stand against all that threaten our well-being.

Venezuela

Last week, the people of Venezuela, headed by the president-elect Juan Guaido, started their quest for overthrowing the evil socialist dictator,
Nicolás Maduro. Hundreds of thousands of people took to the street to take back their government.

Guaido, who is seen as the legitimate president by over 50 countries including the United States, was backed further by some defections from the military and Maduro’s government. According to the U.S., Maduro was ready to leave to country for Cuba but was convinced to stay by Vladimir Putin.

This is going to be a very dangerous time for Guaido and other dissidents. Though there were some defections, there were not a lot. Guaido needs the help of the military since the population has been disarmed by the Chavez regime. His people are going up against armed soldiers and tanks. If this uprising fails to be successful, they never have another chance again. Guaido must know this because he has requested military assistance from the United States.

Though all options are on the table for how to help Guaido, the administration has always been a little gun shy when it comes to using the military. Wars may be popular when they start but people get tired of dealing with if the war goes on for too long. Also, whenever we enter a war it always ends up being our responsibility to clean up the mess. That includes helping the country rebuild the government, infrastructure and military. We are at $22 trillion in debt and really can’t afford the extra expenses. Another problem is Juan Guaido himself. He’s to a right wing capitalist. He’s also a socialist. I’m not sure replacing a socialist dictator with another socialist is a recipe for going through this whole thing again in another ten years.

There are reasons to to help, though. The first is the humanitarian crisis down there. People are dying of sickness, starvation and crime. The average Venezuelan has lost 24 pounds. Maduro is also dealing with other Evil regimes like Cuba, Russia and Iran. We should not want those countries involved with any country within the hemisphere. Finally, Venezuela was a rich country until Hugo Chavez got his claws into it. Helping that country could be very good for trade. That is, if we can stomach a socialist as president.

But, only time will tell. The uprising has been going for a week. People have died. Maduro is in hiding. And the people keep filling the streets.

Mueller Report

So, we have Israel being bombed, Iran threatening us to the point of sending the military and people in Venezuela, apparently sick of eating dogs, have decided to overthrow the illegitimate socialist dictator.

So what are we talking about here? Take a look:
h

Thanks to Foxnews!

This is such an unnecessary story and the Dems behavior has just become asinine. I have been avoiding this whole thing because it is just so stupid. Hell, I’m not even going to waste a lot of time on it now. Here’s the story in only a few lines.

  1. Mueller got more than two years investigating Trump.
  2. Mueller have the report to Attorney General William Barr.
  3. Barr wrote a four page summary. He asked Mueller to read it and Mueller said, “No”.
  4. Mueller wrote a letter saying he wanted Barr to release the two executive summaries from the report. Barr said, “No,” because he was going to release the entire report.
  5. Barr read his summary.
  6. Two weeks later, Barr releases the report with less than 10% redaction. He leaves an un-redacted report with Congress (no one read it).
  7. He appears in front of Congress and the Dems accuse him of lying and not being transparent.
  8. Now, he’s being threatened with jail.

What the hell?? This has been the most transparent process in political history. How was he lying about his summary or about the Mueller letter if he released the report? How is he a lackey for a guilty President if he released the report? How is covering up the guilt of the President when he… wait for it… released the report?!

This is just stupid. I mean, a congressman showed up with a glass chicken and a bucket of KFC as a metaphor that Barr is scared to be interviewed by the House. Look at this:

What a frigging joke. If it weren’t for the fact they could damage the fantastic and honorable career of a two-time Attorney General, I’d laugh.

Listen, this whole thing is just deflection. The Left is in trouble. Trump was spied on. The FBI showed political bias during the Trump and Clinton investigation and he’s investigating it. The FISA court is being investigated. That means the Obama White House probably started the investigation. Of course we’ll know next month when the Horowitz investigation is completed. Pretty sure that report will be release too.

That’s all I have to say about that. This is real Deep State crap.

Gosh, Read a Book!

I listen to the news and peruse Twitter a lot. It just amazes me how much vile garbage spews out of everyone’s mouth and keyboard. I decided to write a little education material for those idiots out there to understand what they are talking about and why what they are saying is wrong. Well, I really decided to write this article because I got banned from Twitter for calling a trans traitor by his given name. So I have twelve hours to write this before I can actually post to Twitter again.

But this is really this is about a book I just read by Dinesh D’Souza called The Big Lie. It is about how the Left has twisted the meaning of being a Nazi and a fascist to be Right wing concepts. The book is great because it talks about the two concepts, compares them to what the Left did and proves his theory with historical facts that are very easy to look up and confirm. I would suggest reading this book. But that’s going to all for the review for now. I am actually going to listen to the audio book again because it is so thick with information.

Over the past week, with the illegal immigrant caravan and the sort, I have heard a lot of people throwing around words at people (well, Trump) because they do not like their policies. Not only do I think this is stupid but I think the people throwing around these terms are stupid. So I just typically reply with a “LOL” or turn the channel (I only average about seven minutes on CNN per day). So, let’s go through those terms.

Apparently, being a nationalist is a bad thing these days. One step from being a Nazi. Funny thing is, you never really hear of the opposite term, which is globalist. In themselves, neither term is bad but the media seems to think that being a nationalist is really bad. Nazis were nationalist (of course, people seem to forget the “Nationalist” is Nazi is only the “N” part of the name especially Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez). A nationalist is just a person who puts his country’s well-being and citizens first. That person is proud of their country and does not care about what other countries think. There are lots of countries who are nationalist but claim they are not. One of whom is France. They are so nationalist, they will reject you if you simply speak another language (no driving tests in English over in France). This is not a bad thing. But globalists, those who do not believe in borders and believe in a single world economy, like to point out that the Nazis were nationalists. And they were. But being a nationalist doesn’t make one a racist, anti-Semitic bigot. It can also mean you think your country is number one and that’s it. I am a nationalist. Always have been and always will be.

Next, there seems to be some real confusion about what a Nazi is. For some reason, it has been associated with the alt-right which means most right wing conservatives are Nazis. The are anti-Semitic, racist, bigoted assholes. Here’s the problem: conservatives on the right are far from Nazis. And the “alt-right” that the left wing media keeps talking about are not conservative by any stretch and are just anti-Semitic, racist, bigoted assholes. The reality, Nazism is a Left wing model. It stands for Nationalist Socialist German Workers Party. That’s right, it is a socialist economy and government. Socialist just like Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. They just hated Jews too. The government controlled all the pillars of society (education, media, art, etc.) and took control of all business just like communism, Marxism and just like what neo-socialists in our own government. This is completely the opposite of what conservatives believe in. So, if you belong to the Left, be careful when throwing around the term to an educated conservative.

Fascism is the same thing with two slight differences. Fascism does not have a racial or bigoted attribute to it. Benito Mussolini, the dictator of Italy during World War II, did not have any feeling toward the Jews until he paired up with Germany. People who refer to racists as fascists don’t know what their talking about. Second, fascism was really an economic system. Socialism believed that there should be no private business, everything should be controlled by the government. Fascism, on the other hand, believed that private business should exist but be heavily influenced by government regulation. Because the economy of Italy seemed to be stronger than that of Germany, Hitler adopted the fascist economic philosophy. Hitler did not start as a fascist but as a socialist.

What do all of these systems have in common? Big government and, in the end, totalitarian. It’s not hard to see when looking back. The Soviet Union ended up communist (socialism is the economic system). Germany (socialist), Italy (fascist), Cuba (socialist), North Korea (socialist) and Venezuela (socialist) all ended up to be dictatorships. China is the most recent country to start as a socialist country that went on to be a communist country and finally, this year, is a dictatorship when the president, Xi Jinping, announced that he would be president for life.

Capitalism, our economic system, is very different. It is meant to be free of, at least very limited from, government regulation. Donald Trump, though quite liberal in his economic policies, is a capitalist and has cut a lot of government regulation. To keep referring to him as a fascist or Nazi just shows the limited intellect of the name caller.

I think Barrack Obama, Bernie Sanders and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez should probably read a book before they start throwing out names targeting Donald Trump.
