A Minnesota judge issued a ruling Friday barring federal officers from detaining or deploying tear gas against peaceful protesters who are not obstructing authorities while participating in Operation Metro Surge in Minneapolis.

The order from U.S. District Judge Kate Menendez restricting the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and federal agents comes amid ongoing protests and heightened tension in Minneapolis after an ICE agent fatally shot Minnesota resident Renee Good earlier this month.

The ruling prohibits officers from retaliating against anyone peacefully protesting or observing the actions of immigration officers, adding that federal agents must show probable cause or reasonable suspicion that someone has committed a crime or is interfering with law enforcement operations.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said following the ruling that the First Amendment does not protect “rioting,” adding that DHS is “taking appropriate and constitutional measures to uphold the rule of law and protect our officers and the public from dangerous rioters.”

Should Have Been Done Before

According to the Post Millennial:

The Trump administration is ending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for those from Somalia living in the US. Those Somalis that have been living in the US under TPS will be required to go back to their country starting on March 17 later this year.

“Temporary means temporary,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said in a statement. “Country conditions in Somalia have improved to the point that it no longer meets the law’s requirement for Temporary Protected Status.”

“Further, allowing Somali nationals to remain temporarily in the United States is contrary to our national interests,” Noem added, per Fox News. “We are putting Americans first.” According to the outlet, there are 2,471 Somalis living in the US with TPS, and there are also 1,383 in the country with pending TPS applications as well. The move from the Trump administration comes as ICE is carrying out surged immigration enforcement operations in Minnesota amid the fallout of a widespread fraud scandal in the state.

The issue, although it has been developing for some time, was highlighted by a viral report from independent reporter Nick Shirley, who went to Minnesota to uncover fraud at daycare centers, many of them being run by the Somali population. Roughly $9 billion in fraud schemes have plagued the state, with more reportedly left to uncover.

There are around 600 Somalis with TPS status living in Minnesota. The country of Somalia was granted TPS in 1991 when there was an ongoing civil war in the nation. President Joe Biden had extended TPS status for Somalis in 2024.

A new House proposal aims to crack down on abuses of the student visa system, including by imposing tougher penalties on administrators and institutions found responsible for visa fraud.

The “Student Visa Integrity Act,” introduced by Rep. Brandon Gill (R-TX), would tighten visa expiration dates and require in-person interviews for visa extensions for applicants from countries considered sponsors of terrorism or that are in programs otherwise deemed high national security risks.

Under the proposal, students from state sponsors of terrorism, nations with an overstay rate of 10% or higher, or institutions that do not use E-Verify would be limited to a maximum student visa term of two years.

“Studying in the United States is a privilege, not a right,” Gill told The Daily Wire. “Unfortunately, a system intended to spread the American dream has been abused by fraudsters and bad actors. My bill restores integrity to a system that has been exploited for decades by protecting national security, enforcing immigration law, and ensuring the student visa program serves America’s interests.”

Gill’s proposal would also require educational institutions and affiliated organizations to disclose any financial links to China. In addition, the bill would set new limits on foreign students wanting to transfer between schools.

The bill also empowers the Department of Homeland Security to reject student visa applicants from “countries of concern” if the applicant could pose a future national security risk to the United States. That includes individuals seeking to work in “the energy sector of Iran” or to “participate in coursework or training relating to or otherwise engage in flight training, aviation maintenance, or flight operations.”

Justices ruled 7-2 that candidates running for federal office have the standing to sue state election boards over their counting of ballots — including challenging laws that allow for the counting of late-arriving mail-in ballots.

Justices Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented, joined by Justice Sonia Sotomayor.

The ruling from the high court is expected to be hailed as a victory for Republicans ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, and comes as the high court is slated to consider a case more directly involving mail-in ballots later this year.

  • Miguel Salvador-Reyes a Mexican national arrested previously for cruelty toward a child.  
  • Mario Yubany Fuentes-Sanchez, a criminal illegal alien from Honduras previously arrested for terroristic threats and domestic violence.  
  • Tong Sphabmisay, a criminal illegal alien from Thailand, with a conviction for possession of 200 tablets of Ecstasy.

This Should Be A Slam Dunk Case

Lainey Armistead’s first-ever trip to the Supreme Court will be to watch her own case, a high-stakes legal fight that will determine whether states have the right to keep gender-confused men from dominating women’s sports.

Armistead, a former women’s collegiate soccer player, is fighting for West Virginia’s “Save Women’s Sports” law, which barred transgender-identifying males from participating in women’s sports. The fight over the law will come to a head Tuesday as the Supreme Court hears oral arguments on West Virginia’s law and a similar measure out of Idaho.

“I just am baffled that a girl from Kentucky who went to school and at a smaller school in West Virginia would have the opportunity to be heard,” Armistead told The Daily Wire. “By them taking up this case, they’ve told me and all the other girls that we matter and that we’re important.”

Armistead was the captain of West Virginia State University women’s soccer team and played from 2019-2022 as transgender sports debate intensified across the nation. During that time, the debate rose to a fevered pitch as University of Pennsylvania transgender-identifying male swimmer Lia Thomas won a national championship title in the 500-yard freestyle in March 2022 over female swimmers.

Armistead joined the legal fight to defend West Virginia’s law in September 2021, becoming an intervenor in the case after hearing of female athletes in Connecticut losing to a male athlete competing as a woman.

A suspect was in custody Saturday after an apparent arson attack set a Mississippi synagogue ablaze, destroying Torahs and prompting an investigation involving the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

The blaze broke out shortly after 3 a.m. at Beth Israel Congregation in Jackson, the state’s largest synagogue. No congregants were injured, officials said.

Photos from the scene showed severe damage to an administrative office and the synagogue’s library, where several Torahs were destroyed or damaged.

Jackson Mayor John Horhn confirmed that a person was taken into custody following an investigation that also included the FBI and the Joint Terrorism Task Force.

More Communist Policiy Disaster

The Seattle police union is slamming the city’s new socialist mayor for apparently issuing a directive halting all open drug use arrests — in favor of promoting a diversion program they say suffers from “suicidal empathy.”

Wilson, 43, a self-proclaimed democratic socialist, ran on a platform of seemingly impossible guarantees — including a promise to “Trump-proof Seattle,” according to her campaign website.

The Seattle Police Officers Guild said it was blindsided by a directive from Wilson’s team to pause open drug use arrests, in a statement issued Sunday.

The union said that an internal memo ordered the police department to funnel related cases through the city’s Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion program, which aims to steer offenders engaged in low-level drug crime away from the criminal justice system.

LEAD seeks to connect alleged drug users with intensive case managers, who typically help their clients with anything from housing to mental illness.

The union blasted her apparent decision as a glaring red flag that will promote societal decay — and claimed LEAD actively supports “suicidal empathy” in its lenient practices.

“Most cops know that the LEAD program supports this ideology, and they don’t want to refer cases. It is a waste of time. We’ve all seen how our streets can be filled with death, decay, blight, and crime when ideology like this infects our city. Now with this resurrected insane direction, death, destruction, and more human suffering will be supercharged,” Mike Solan, the union president, said.

Police Chief Shon Barnes wrote that “new policies and procedures are inevitable” in the wake of “the shifting political landscape our city has grown accustomed to,” in the full memo obtained by KOMO.

The jarring change was “effective immediately,” said Barnes, who also noted that any suspect who refuses to comply with LEAD will still face “traditional prosecutorial measures.”

Wilson, however, denied the union’s bold assertions and claimed in a statement Monday that she hadn’t enforced any policy change.

“You’ll know when I announce a policy change, because I’ll announce a policy change,” she said sarcastically.

Despite the orders laid out in the internal memo, Seattle PD also said “nothing has changed when it comes to police continuing to make drug-related arrests.”

The Post reached out to to the police union for comment.

Wilson’s vision stretches far beyond Seattle’s borders. On the eve of her Jan. 1 inauguration, she shared a post expressing “solidarity” with Somali child care providers in the city who have come under scrutiny amid a day care scandal more than 1,000 miles away in Minnesota. 

City leadership, she said, “will not tolerate anyone who is trying to intimidate, harass, or film Somali childcare providers” — prompting the head of the Department of Justice’s civil rights division to remind her that “citizen journalism are NOT HATE CRIMES in America.”

More people are fleeing California than any other state — as Golden Staters pack up and head to places like Texas and Florida, according to a new U-Haul analysis.

California ranked dead last for the sixth time in a row on the moving and storage rental company’s list of “growth states.”

The grim news came with a bit of a very small silver lining — the out-migration wasn’t as bad as it could’ve been, the company said in a Monday news release.

Rounding out the bottom five were Illinois (49), New Jersey (48), New York (47) and Massachusetts (46). The bottom five and nine out of 10 worst states for growth are run by Democrat governors while seven went blue in the last presidential election, according to U-Haul.

Meanwhile, seven of the top 10 growth states are run by Republican governors and nine went red in the 2024 presidential election, the analysis said. The top five states for growth were Texas, Florida, North Carolina, Tennessee and South Carolina, according to U-Haul.

President Donald Trump signaled a hardline stance toward Cuba on Sunday, vowing to halt all oil and financial support and urging the island nation to “make a deal” before it is “too late.”

New video footage shared Saturday shows the minutes that lead up to the fatal shooting of a Minneapolis woman by a federal agent, according to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

DHS shared video on its X account that appeared to be three-and-a-half minutes of footage taken by a citizen from inside a nearby home showing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and multiple vehicles out in the residential street.

A car can be heard honking its horn repeatedly while someone can be heard continually blowing a whistle. At one point, the video pans over to what appears to be Renee Nicole Good’s Honda Pilot that is parked in the middle of the street.

“The media continues to fail the American people in their reporting on the events in Minneapolis,” DHS claimed in the post. “New evidence shows that the anti-ICE agitator was STALKING and IMPEDING a law enforcement operation over the course of the morning.”

Here’s what we know about Renee Good and her crimes:

  • Renee Good belongs to a professional anti-ICE activist group. This group was so well organized, they have training sessions.
  • Renee Good had her children taken away from her.
  • Good’s wife has been accused of child abuse.
  • She was stalking ICE all morning and blocking them.

According to the Daily Wire:

Bob Weir, who co-founded the Grateful Dead and helped introduce new generations to the band at the end of a virtuosic career, died Saturday following a brief battle with cancer. He was 78.

What the Hell is Going On in Minnesota?!

According to Fox News:

Homeland Security Secretary (DHS) Kristi Noem alleged at a press conference on Wednesday that the woman who was shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer was “stalking and impeding” agents all day.

Noem told reporters that ICE agents repeatedly instructed the victim, Renee Nicole Good, 37, to get out of her car and stop “obstructing” law enforcement but she did not comply.

The agency is labeling the incident as an act of “domestic terrorism.”

Video of the scene showed Good’s car in the middle of the street in a residential neighborhood as ICE agents in a dark gray Nissan Titan truck got out and approached her vehicle.

Good is heard telling agents to “go around,” and as they walk toward her Honda Pilot, one agent tells her to “get out of the car.”

She then abruptly puts it in reverse and attempts to drive off before she is shot. 

Noem claimed the woman was trying to “weaponize her vehicle” and “attempted to run a law enforcement officer over.”

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer fatally shot a woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday, after authorities said she used her vehicle to try to run over federal officers during a targeted enforcement operation.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in a statement that rioters began blocking ICE officers when one of the rioters allegedly attempted to “weaponize her vehicle” to hit law enforcement officials in what they described as an act of “domestic terrorism.”

“An ICE officer, fearing for his life, the lives of his fellow law enforcement and the safety of the public, fired defensive shots. He used his training and saved his own life and that of his fellow officers,” the agency added.

“The alleged perpetrator was hit and is deceased. Thankfully, the ICE officers who were hurt are expected to make full recoveries,” DHS added.

Attorney General Pam Bondi said a joint operation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Homeland Security Investigations and the United States Coast Guard, with support from the Department of War, executed a seizure warrant for a crude oil tanker that was allegedly being used to transport sanctioned oil from Venezuela and Iran.

“For multiple years, the oil tanker has been sanctioned by the United States due to its involvement in an illicit oil shipping network supporting foreign terrorist organizations,” she said on X. “This seizure, completed off the coast of Venezuela, was conducted safely and securely—and our investigation alongside the Department of Homeland Security to prevent the transport of sanctioned oil continues.”

A federal judge on Thursday ordered Kilmar Abrego Garcia to be “immediately” released from an immigration detention facility as the Department of Homeland Security vows to challenge the decision.

“This is naked judicial activism by an Obama appointed judge. This order lacks any valid legal basis and we will continue to fight this tooth and nail in the courts,” said DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.

U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis said that “since Abrego Garcia’s return from wrongful detention in El Salvador, he has been re-detained, again without lawful authority” and granted his petition to be freed from Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) custody.

“Abrego Garcia’s case demands judicial intervention,” Xinis said.

Xinis instructed the federal government to inform Abrego Garcia of her order and to notify the court by 5 pm ET on Thursday of the time and location of his release.

“Because Abrego Garcia has been held in ICE detention to effectuate third-county removal absent a lawful removal order, his requested relief is proper,” Xinis added.

A federal judge has blocked President Donald Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to Los Angeles.

In a ruling on Wednesday, US District Judge Charles Breyer determined that the deployed members of the California National Guard must return to the control of Governor Gavin Newsom. About 100 troops remain in Los Angeles, and Breyer found that Trump had illegally kept them deployed months after sending them in during the summer to address riots by activists opposed to immigration enforcement.

“The Founders designed our government to be a system of checks and balances,” Breyer, a Clinton appointee, wrote. “Defendants, however, make clear that the only check they want is a blank one.” 

The deployment of the National Guard in Los Angeles has been subject to legal debate for months.  After Trump initially deployed the troops, a judge blocked that deployment. An appeals court then halted the ruling, but most troops have since been sent away. Breyer’s decision will block an extension that would have kept 300 troops under federal control until February. Two hundred were sent to Oregon, while the rest stayed in Los Angeles.

California Attorney General Rob Bonta, who filed the lawsuit against the deployment, applauded the ruling in a statement.

“For more than five months, the Trump Administration has held California National Guard troops hostage as part of its political games,” Bonta claimed. “But the President is not King. And he cannot federalize the National Guard whenever, wherever, and for however long he wants, without justification. This is a good day for our democracy and the strength of the rule of law.”

The ruling is paused until Monday to give the Department of Justice time to appeal. White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson has already indicated that the Trump administration will appeal.

“President Trump exercised his lawful authority to deploy National Guard troops to support federal officers and assets following violent riots that local leaders like Newscum refused to stop,” Jackson said in a statement. “We look forward to ultimate victory on the issue.”

Why Wasn’t This Already a Law?

A House Republican is mounting an effort to make it easier for women to keep and raise their babies after birth.

Rep. Ashley Hinson, R-Iowa, is unveiling a bill called the Supporting Healthy Pregnancy Act that would ensure pregnant mothers get financial support from the father even before their child is born, Fox News Digital learned first.

It’s an effort by the Republican Party to affirm its pro-family ideology as Democrats continue to accuse the GOP of being anti-choice while also being unwilling to support women who keep their babies.

Hinson’s bill would require states to establish systems where the biological father of a child is required to pay at least 50% of out-of-pocket costs for medical expenses associated with a pregnancy and delivery, including health insurance premiums.

There are certain limitations on costs incurred, however, and abortion costs are excluded altogether.

The payments must also be requested by the mother before the father is legally obligated to make them.
