Iran

Episode 1226 – RIP, Lindsey!

Donald Trump appears to have learned his lesson when it comes to Iran. I wish he’d learn his lesson about the rest of the Middle East.

A California school has come up with an idea to solve climate change. Sorry guys, The Simpsons did it.

And Zohran Mamdani is trying to get all the white people out of New York.

Some News:

Here is some news:

  • Lindsey Graham, a 23-year US Senator, was 71 years old.
  • The United States continues to bomb Iran.
    • They have closed the straight of Hormuz to Iranian ships.
    • All other ships have to pay a toll to pass the straight.
  • A bipartisan push to make Daylight Saving Time permanent is heading for a chamber-wide vote after clearing a key House hurdle.
    • The House Rules Committee on Monday teed up a floor vote on the Sunshine Protection Act, which would allow states to enact Daylight Saving Time year-round — with an option to opt out. The committee approved the rule in a 6-4 vote.
    • The measure has the support of many coastal lawmakers and President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly urged Congress to make Daylight Saving Time permanent and end the twice-a-year ritual of changing clocks — a practice currently observed by every state except Hawaii and most of Arizona.

The Simpson’s Did It!

According to the Daily Wire:

Researchers at the University of California San Diego have proposed a method to “dim the sun” in hopes of reducing the looming effects of El Niño, a recent study revealed.

As reports of stronger El Niños — the natural warming of the Pacific Ocean that affects global weather — by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) continue, researchers at UC San Diego have determined that damages from the phenomenon could cost the global economy trillions of dollars.

To combat this, researchers in the journal Science Advances have proposed an extremely far-fetched form of “solar geoengineering” known as “marine cloud brightening.”

Injecting these particles into the clouds would hypothetically bounce the rays of the sun out of the atmosphere, preventing the water from heating up, which creates stronger El Niños.

While some researchers blame global warming for the increasing strength of El Niño, the World Meteorological Association said that “there is no evidence that climate change increases the frequency or intensity of El Niño events,” the New York Post reported.

The proposal from UC San Diego comes after a 2023 study they conducted involved two computer MCB simulations applied to two real El Niño events in 1997 and 2015, per the Post. The study found that aerosols released from an Australian bushfire brightened the clouds and hindered the effects of El Niño. The simulations run by the research team applied the same method to 1997 and 2015, which increased cooling and drying effects by 40%.

Co-author and University of Chicago postdoctoral researcher Jessica Wan stated that the aerosols would have to be “deployed continuously for an indefinite period of time,” according to the Post.

As of now, there are no real-world plans to test out the far-fetched hypothesis.

They Don’t Want Them

According to the New York Post:

The City Council’s Italian Caucus demanded Mayor Zohran Mamdani amend his new immigrant enclaves map — which ignored Little Italy and other Italian-American areas of the five boroughs.

The caucus fumed Thursday over Mamdani’s map which didn’t list Italian enclaves — or big Irish and Jewish neighborhoods — but spotlighted 30 other areas, including Little Palestine, Koreatown, Little Pakistan and Little Odessa.

“You cannot tell the story of immigrant New York while airbrushing out one of the city’s most recognizable and historically significant immigrant communities,” the caucus said in a statement Thursday, calling the omission “incomplete at best and insulting at worst.”

The caucus said the Mamdani administration should work with historians and community groups so the next version of the map gives Italian‑Americans a fair shake.

A City Hall spokesperson said Wednesday that the map was designed to “highlight neighborhoods in New York City that have substantial foreign‑born populations from regions and countries around the world.”

The Italian Caucus pointed out Belmont in the Bronx, Bensonhurst and Dyker Heights in Brooklyn and Italian‑American pockets in Queens and Staten Island are also neighborhoods where Italian roots run deep.

None were mentioned in the map.

I Call BS

According to the Daily Wire:

Congressman Ro Khanna, the California Democrat considering a 2028 presidential bid, has spent the past week accusing Israeli settlers and soldiers of unlawfully detaining him and other Americans on an overseas trip.

On July 8th, Khanna joined a delegation organized by Breaking the Silence, a left-wing activist group known for its criticism of Israeli military operations and policies in Judea and Samaria, also known as the West Bank. The group attempted to visit Khirbet Zanuta, a disputed site in the South Hebron Hills that has become a flashpoint in legal battles over unauthorized Arab construction. Israeli authorities designated the area a closed military zone, requiring advance coordination before entry.

According to Israeli authorities, the delegation had entered a closed military zone without prior authorization and was stopped by civilian security personnel coordinating with military forces. Video released after the incident appears to show Israeli soldiers directing the group to wait for police.

Khanna has described the encounter in far more dramatic terms. During a Fox News interview, he claimed “the only reason we’re safe” was because U.S. Embassy official David Brownstein contacted senior Israeli officials.

Khanna has not publicly provided evidence that members of the delegation faced an imminent threat to their lives.

Khanna claimed that “Israeli settlers, brandishing American made M4s, detained me & other Americans on my trip to Palestine.”

Available footage from Khanna’s group shows armed local security personnel carrying rifles on slings, but does not appear to show weapons being drawn or pointed at members of the delegation.

Naomi Kahn of Regavim, an Israeli advocacy group that tracks illegal Arab building in Judea and Samaria, said Khanna used the situation as a publicity stunt.

This Is Equity

According to the New York Post:

The U.S. women’s national team won’t play a World Cup match until 2027, but it is still set to receive a major payday from this year’s big tournament.

The U.S. men’s national team earned $16 million from FIFA for reaching the round of 16 before being eliminated by Belgium in a 4-1 loss in Seattle. Under U.S. Soccer’s landmark equal pay collective bargaining agreements, that money will be shared with the women’s national team.

U.S. Soccer keeps 20 percent of the prize money. The remaining 80 percent is split evenly between the men’s and women’s player pools, meaning each team is set to receive $6.4 million from the USMNT’s run. Based on 26-player rosters, that comes out to roughly $246,153 per player.

The women’s share will not be paid immediately.

The USWNT has not yet qualified for the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil, and the final roster will not be selected until closer to the tournament. Until then, the money owed to the women will sit in an interest-bearing account, with that interest also split between both player pools.

She’s Going to Retire

According to the New York Post:

Caitlin Clark’s season has been dominated by the headlines surrounding the physical play she’s faced.

Now, a group of United States lawmakers is trying to make its voices heard with the WNBA.

Led by Republican Study Committee Chairman Rep. August Pfluger (Texas), a cohort of congressional representatives wrote a letter to WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert over what they have called “repeated acts of unnecessary physical hostility and violence” toward the Fever star.

The 11 Republican lawmakers said Clark has faced aggression on the court and outside the court on social media, and it’s time for the league to do a better job officiating things in real time.

“Clark has been hip-checked, poked in the eye, and struck in the throat during games,” the letter read. “These incidents go far beyond routine physical play, yet the WNBA and its officiating have too often failed to address these unacceptable incidents and hold players accountable. Recently, a player even appeared to endorse violence against Clark in a social media post, further fueling concerns about the culture surrounding these incidents.

“In addition, concerning reports suggest that many of these attacks against Caitlin Clark may be racially motivated.”

Things came to a head on June 24 — and the ensuing days — when Clark and the Mercury’s Alyssa Thomas went for a loose ball, and as Clark went to the floor, she was hit in the throat.

Thomas was not called for a foul on the play. However, a day later, she was retroactively handed a flagrant 2 foul and a one-game suspension.

Episode 1224 – Saving Democracy by Subverting Democracy!

Democrats are protecting democracy by subverting democracy…again.

Iran can’t seem to behave.

And when are these actors going to learn not to bash their own movies before those movies come out.

News

Here is some news:

  • Graham Platner is out as a Democratic senatorial candidate for Maine.
    • Democrats will choose another candidate (here we go again).
    • The pervert and Nazi has been accused of rape.
    • He left a message. Of course none of this was his fault.
  • We have started bombing the crap out of Iran again.
  • And today is day 4 of the Tyler Robinson preliminary hearing.
    • He’s the guy who shot Charlie Kirk.
    • The prosecution has introduced an entire timeline with video.
    • The guy is screwed. It’s not going to trial.

Dumbass of the Day

What do these movies have in common:

  • The live action remake of Snow White and the Seven Dwarves.
  • The Alcolyte.
  • Captain America.
  • Supergirl.

These are films that were undermined by their stars before they came out and the movies bombed.

Women in “The Odyssey”:

  • Penelope
  • Helenm
  • Clyemnestra
  • Nausicaa
  • Arete
  • Athena
  • Hera
  • Persephone
  • Calypso
  • Circe
  • Eurycleia
  • The Sirens
  • Skylla
  • Charybdis
  • Tyro
  • Antipoe
  • Alcmene
  • Jocasta
  • Chloris
  • Leda
  • Phaedra
  • Procris
  • Ariadne
  • Maera
  • Clymene

This movie is already getting a lot of hate simply from the previews (remember, no one has seen this movie yet).

  • Lupita Nyong’o being cast as Helen of Troy. Helen as having “white arms” implies a white Greek woman and that Nolan has prioritized diversity over historical or textual fidelity.
  • Elliot Page’s casting as Sinon, a warrior and cousin of Odysseus, has also become a flashpoint, with detractors framing this and the inclusion of rapper Travis Scott in an unknown role as evidence of “culture-war” or “identity politics” casting rather than story-driven choices.
  • Fans of classical history and “historical epics” have criticized the armor, helmets, ships, and general production design as anachronistic or more “comic book” than Bronze Age Greece.
  • Another recurring complaint is Nolan’s decision to use contemporary-sounding language in the dialogue instead of archaic or elevated speech that would mirror traditional translations of Homer.
  • The film is very dark.

So They Shouldn’t Know How to Speak

According to the New York Post:

Activists are pushing for Black English to be legitimized in preschool as a way to build children’s literacy skills in California.

The Black Californians United for Early Care & Education (BlackECE) is part of a movement to challenge “harmful language hierarchies and affirm Black English as a legitimate, rule-governed language rooted in Black history, culture, and community.”

The movement also seeks to “address how language bias shows up in early learning spaces–and how it can be dismantled.”

“I don’t want my son to walk into any room and feel like his voice is not valued or his perspective can’t be heard because he’s not saying it one way or the other,” the co-founder of BlackECE Ashley Williams told PBS.

She also remembered how speaking Black English is full of slangs and grammatical errors so it came with a lot of embarrassment.

BlackECE is a nonprofit organization centered around a 10-point policy plan that seeks to gain reparations and help Black children, families, and workers.

California released a plan promoting early dual language learning and calling on the state’s education system to support bilingual children in their development in 2020, but the advocacy group believes that Black vernacular should be included.

“We talk about multilinguals, but we don’t include Black children who may be African-American English speakers,” the Director of the Children’s Equity Project Xigrid Soto-Boykin said.

Williams also recalled her experiences in having to “talk white” and talking in her comfortable English and feeling insecure.

Episode 1219 – Nope, They Don’t Belong Here!

The Iran cease fire has, shockingly, ended because Iran cannot control themselves.

It seems that people have finally taken the red pill when it comes to Islam. It’s about time. I have an excellent book people should read if the have any doubts or misunderstanding about Islam not being a religion of peace.

And I have another piece of evidence that the Left is the party of destruction.

Hang Them From a Yardarm!

According to Fox News:

Interior Secretary Doug Burgum vowed “full” prosecution Saturday for vandals who allegedly slashed a 350-foot long gash into the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and defaced the area with a slew of anti-Trump graffiti.

“When people are attacking it [the Reflecting Pool], it is like an attack on our country,” Burgum said. “These are our most sacred monuments, and they [the perpetrators] are gonna be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”

Burgum discussed the damage and the Trump administration’s response to it during a “Fox & Friends Weekend” appearance, revealing that authorities have made seven arrests, issued multiple citations and filed 18 police reports in connection with the vandalism.

According to Burgum, the damage extended roughly 350 feet along the pool’s industrial rubber liner, which he said investigators believe was cut with a box cutter.

Images show some of the anti-Trump markings the vandals left behind, including “8647,” interpreted by many as a call to violence or a call to remove the president.

Later in the article:

He said more than 50 parks and circles have been restored, 48 monuments repaired, 22 fountains returned to service and roughly 1,700 lights fixed throughout the National Mall.

Fencing now surrounds the Reflecting Pool amid an investigation into the damage.

Burgum said the fence was installed in part to protect the pool and in preparation for July 4 festivities, which will include fireworks on either side of the monument.

Well It’s About Time Trump Figured That Out!

According to Fox News:

An Iranian lawmaker warned Sunday that Tehran will continue to control the Strait of Hormuz, declaring that other nations must submit to Iran’s rules.

“We unequivocally support the ever-victorious Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ decisive action against the American enemy and the assertion of Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz,” Ebrahim Rezaei, spokesperson for the Parliament’s Foreign Policy and National Security Commission, said in a post shared on X.

“The Strait of Hormuz will not return to its previous state, and others have no choice but to submit to Iran’s directives in the Strait,” he added.

Rezaei’s remarks came after President Donald Trump said on June 27 that the U.S. military would “complete the job” if Tehran did not comply with the ceasefire agreement.

The interim Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Tehran and Washington includes provisions governing control of the Strait of Hormuz intended to guarantee toll-free passage for vessels for a 60-day period.

Iran has been busy and not in a good way:

  • Iran has been threatening the United States.
  • They have attacked Kuwait, Qatar, and Bahrain. Their goal was to hit American bases.
  • They maintain they are in charge of the Straight of Hormuz.
  • They have attack a cargo ship from Singapore.

The United States has had enough. We have decided to do what he do best: bomb the ever-loving crap out of them.

Donald Trump released a statement from Truth Social:

A Muslim is someone who follows the religion of Islam, while an Islamist is someone who treats Islam as a political ideology and seeks to shape government and society according to their vision of Islamic rules.

What “Muslim” Means

  • A Muslim is simply a person who believes in and identifies with the religion of Islam.calloflove
  • Muslims range widely in belief and practice, from very liberal to very conservative, and many treat Islam primarily as a personal faith and cultural identity rather than a political program.reddit+1
  • Being Muslim does not automatically imply any particular political position or attitude toward secular democracy or law.philosproject

What “Islamist” Means

  • An Islamist is someone who believes that Islam should directly govern politics, law, and public life, and who treats Islam as a comprehensive political ideology.washingtoninstitute+2
  • Islamism usually involves advocating an “Islamic state” or legal system based on their strict interpretation of Islamic principles, often in tension with liberal democratic values and individual rights.wikipedia+1
  • Many analyses stress that Islamism is not simply greater religious piety but a modern ideological project that seeks power and control over society, sometimes justifying coercion or violence to achieve these goals.washingtoninstitute+1

Relationship Between Muslims and Islamists

  • Most Muslims are not Islamists; they practice Islam as a religion without seeking to impose a single political model on everyone.
  • Some Muslims are Islamists, in the sense that they say their religious beliefs require them to push for Islamic law and governance; however, this is a subset, not the majority.
  • Conflating “Muslim” with “Islamist” leads to misunderstanding and stigma because it treats ordinary religious believers as if they were adherents of a radical or hardline political ideology.

A Simple Way To Keep Them Straight

  • “Muslim”: a follower of the religion of Islam (analogous to “Christian,” “Jew,” etc.).calloflove
  • “Islamist”: someone who wants Islam (as they interpret it) to structure the political system and laws, often in a strict or exclusionary way.wikipedia+2

Episode 1218 – This MOU Ain’t That Great!

The memorandum of understanding is out (we think). Though we don’t have the official document, it seems this is the agreements.

Let’s Take a Look

Here is the memoradum of understanding:

Paragraph 1

The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran and their allies in the current war, by signing this MOU, declare the immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts including in Lebanon, and undertake from now on not to initiate any war or any military operation against each other and to refrain from the threat or use of force against each other and ensuring the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Lebanon. The final deal will confirm the permanent termination of the war on all fronts including in Lebanon and other provisions of this paragraph.

Some things:

  • I don’t like this. Why is Lebanon involved in this? Lebanon is a Iranian satellite terror group.
  • What happens if Hezbollah attacks Israel? Would that be a bad thing put on Israel or would it be a violation of the MOU?
  • There is absolutely no mention of Israel. Why?
  • I doubt this is going to hold.

Paragraph 2

The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran undertake to respect each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and to refrain from interfering in each other’s internal affairs.

Some things:

  • What the hell does that mean?
  • What are the territories?
  • What about the Straight of Hormuz? Who’s is that?

Paragraph 3

The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran commit to negotiating and achieving the final deal in maximum 60 days extendable with mutual consent.

Some things:

  • I hate this!
  • We shouldn’t be negotiating anything. We won the war. We should be telling them what they are going to do.
  • This is weakness and will not be embraced by Americans.

Paragraph 4

Immediately upon the signing of this MOU, the United States of America will begin the removal of its naval blockade and any disturbances or impediments against the Islamic Republic of Iran and will fully end the naval blockade within 30 days. During this period, the traffic of vessels will be in proportion to the numbers of pre-war traffic being restored by the Islamic Republic of Iran. The United States of America further undertakes to remove its forces from the proximity of the Islamic Republic of Iran within 30 days after the final deal.

“What we’re saying is that after 30 days, or within 30 days after the final deal—meaning assuming we get to the final deal, we may not—but assuming we get to the final deal, then we will return our force posture in the region to that which existed before the conflict started,” the senior administration official noted. “That’s what that paragraph effectively provides.”

Some things:

Paragraph 5

Upon the signing of this MOU, the Islamic Republic of Iran will make arrangements using its best efforts for the safe passage of commercial vessels with no charge for 60 days only from the Persian Gulf to the Sea of Oman and vice versa. The traffic of commercial vessels will immediately start and considering the need for removing the technical and military obstacles and demining by the Islamic Republic of Iran will be reinstated within 30 days. The Islamic Republic of Iran will conduct dialogue with the Sultanate of Oman to define the future administration and maritime services of the Strait of Hormuz in discussion with other Persian Gulf littoral states in line with applicable international law and the sovereign rights of coastal states of the Strait of Hormuz.

The senior administration official made particular note that the MOU says “the safe passage of commercial vessels with no charge” for the first 60 days.

“It says that Iran will work not just with Oman, but with the Gulf States to set up a broader agreement, a longer-term agreement on the Strait of Hormuz,” the official explained. “And of course, I’m sure the Iranians will assert their rights as aggressively as they can, but fundamentally toll-free passage of the Strait of Hormuz for 60 days, and that will continue because the Persian Gulf States will never agree to an arrangement that doesn’t permit toll-free access to the Strait of Hormuz for themselves and their industries.”

The senior administration official also emphasized that on Tuesday, Iran did not fire at any vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.

“So fundamentally, even before the formal signing ceremony on Friday, we see Iran actually ceasing its efforts to cut off traffic from the Strait of Hormuz,” the official noted. “This is one of the reasons why Brent crude is hovering around $79 and West Texas crude is even lower.”

Paragraph 6

The United States of America undertakes with regional partners to develop a definitive, mutually agreed plan, which could reach $300 billion for the reconstruction and economic development of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The definitive implementation of this plan will be finalized as part of a final deal within 60 days. All required licenses, waivers, and permissions needed for the relevant financial transactions will be granted by the United States of America.

This paragraph, the senior administration official pointed out, is probably one of the most controversial paragraphs in the deal.

“Note that it doesn’t require us to do anything,” the official said. “Number one, to ever pay a cent of money to the Iranians, to ever contribute money to this reconstruction fund. What it says is that if we get to a final deal and if the Iranians behave, we will permit the sanctions relief that would allow, for example, the Emiratis to build a power plant in Iran.”

“That’s all it says,” he emphasized. “If they do what they have to do, we will permit the investment in the reconstruction of their country, which of course, if they do what they say they’re going to do and they change their behaviors as a country, that would be great for everybody.”

Paragraph 7

The United States of America undertakes to terminate all types of sanctions against Islamic Republic of Iran, including United Nations Security Council resolutions, i.e., IAEA Board of Governors resolutions, and all unilateral US sanctions, primary and secondary, in an agreed-upon schedule as part of the final deal. The Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America acknowledge the critical importance of the sanctions termination issue above mentioned and express their intention to immediately address these issues in the negotiations in order to achieve mutual agreement on them.

Paragraph 8

The Islamic Republic of Iran reaffirms that it shall not procure or develop nuclear weapons. The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran have agreed to resolve the disposition of stockpile enriched material pursuant to a mechanism that will be mutually agreed upon in accordance with the schedule mentioned in paragraph seven with a minimum methodology to be downblending on site under the supervision of the IAEA.

The two parties also agreed to discuss the issue of enrichment and other mutually agreed matters related to the Islamic Republic of Iran’s nuclear needs based on a satisfactory framework to be agreed upon in the final deal. Final deal will confirm the provisions of this paragraph. The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran acknowledge the critical importance of the nuclear issues above mentioned and express their intention to immediately address these issues in the negotiations in order to achieve mutual agreement on them.

On this point, the senior administration official emphasized that while the Iranian media has claimed that there will be no mention of nuclear issues in this MOU, the agreement doesn’t just say that they will discuss the nuclear question.

“It sets a minimum standard where at a minimum, the enriched stockpile will be destroyed by downblending,” the official explained. “Of course, that’s the floor, and we will push for more than that, but the fact that they’re conceding to that is a major, major win for the United States of America. They’re saying, ‘We will destroy the enriched stockpile and this is how we’re going to do it, at a minimum.’”

Points seven and eight play off one another, the senior administration official said.

“So when I see the media saying that they’re going to get all their sanctions relief, the sanctions relief in seven is tied to the nuclear settlement in eight, and in fact, we use the exact same language to finalize both of those paragraphs,” the official explained. “We’re saying the sanctions relief and the nuclear issues are connected, and to the extent that you perform on the nuclear questions, you’ll get the sanctions relief.”

Paragraph 9

In the final deal, the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran agree to maintain the status quo. The Islamic Republic of Iran will maintain the current status quo of its nuclear program and the United States of America will not impose any new sanctions and will not deploy additional forces in the region.

Paragraph 10

The United States of America undertakes that immediately upon the signing of this MOU and until the determination of sanctions, US Department of Treasury will issue waivers for the export of Iranian crude oil, petroleum products, and derivatives, and all associated services including banking transactions, insurances, transportation, etc.

The senior administration official here pointed out that when the U.S. was sanctioning Iranian oil, the U.S. was actually giving China a “massive discount on the purchases of petroleum.”

“Regardless of whether we had had efficacy, regardless of whether we lift a single other sanction, the President of the United States and the entire team agreed that it’s absurd to sanction Iranian oil in such a way that they are still allowed to sell that oil, we just give China a big fat discount. We stop that process, and of course, it’s part of the broader agreement.”

Paragraph 11

The United States of America undertakes to make fully available for use the frozen or restricted funds and assets of the Islamic Republic of Iran upon the implementation of this MOU. The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran will mutually agree on the procedures related to the release of these funds during the negotiations. Such funds, whether retained in the original account or transferred, shall be made fully usable for payment to any ultimate beneficiary designed by the Central Bank—excuse me—ultimate beneficiary designated by the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The United States of America undertakes to issue all necessary licenses and authorizations accordingly.

Iran will get access to the restricted funds and assets upon the implementation of this MOU, the senior administration official explained.

“So assuming we reach the agreement and implement the terms of this MOU, assuming we get to a final deal, then they will have access to these assets,” that official noted. “And indeed, what we’ve contemplated is that if they engage in good behavior, for example, they give us the nuclear dust while we’re engaged in this final negotiation, then we will release some frozen assets in response to that.”

The official emphasized a point that he believes will be misreported.

“What Iran wanted was restricted funds and assets of the Islamic Republic of Iran upon the signing of this MOU,” the senior administration official said. “And what they eventually conceded is that they wouldn’t get any money unless they perform good behavior, even though of course it’s their own money, just in frozen assets, which is why we structured it the way that we do. If they implement the MOU, they then get access to some of their frozen assets.”

Paragraph 12

The United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran agree that an executive mechanism will be established to monitor the successful implementation of this MOU and the future compliance of the final deal.

Paragraph 13

After signing this MOU and subject to the beginning of the implementation of paragraphs 1, 4, 5, 10, and 11 of this MOU, and the continuing implementation of these measures, the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran will start negotiations regarding the final deal exclusively on the other paragraphs.

Paragraph 14

The final deal will be endorsed by a binding UN Security Council resolution and then there’s the signature page and that is it

Episode 1215 – It Was A Pretty Awesome Weekend!

Trump announces that we have a deal with Iran that will end the war. I am having my doubts.

Elon Musk passes a major milestone and everyone on the Left is really ticked off about it.

And we had a huge sports weekend. Let’s talk about that.

Yeah. I’ll Wait and See

Some things:

  • It’s not a peace deal. It’s a memorandum of understanding.
  • No information about the deal has been released.
  • Hezbollah attacked Israel on Saturday, presumably on orders of Iran.
  • Who likes this deal? Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, and Iran.
  • They SHOULD NOT be holding a signing ceremony.

Congrats Elon!

According to the Mary Sue:

Elon Musk has officially broken the record for becoming the world’s first trillionaire. Online reactions have varied, with some congratulating Musk and others criticizing the obscene wealth he has amassed.

According to Bloomberg, Tesla and SpaceX founder became the world’s richest man in history after his net worth reached $1.1 trillion. SpaceX managed to raise $75 billion in an initial public offering (IPO) after its trading launch on Friday. When the market closed, Musk’s shares in SpaceX were worth $767.1 billion. He also held $53.8 billion in SpaceX options. Musk’s trillionaire status is further solidified by his holdings of $168 billion in Tesla shares and $116.4 billion in options.

Some things:

  • Elon Musk does not have a trillion dollars.
  • He has stocks that are worth a trillion.
  • The stocks are volatile. They go up and down.
  • He takes a salary of about $60,000 a year. The rest of his salary comes in the form of stocks.
  • He cannot sell the stocks to get his trillion dollars because the shares would plummet.
  • Basically, by him owning stocks, he is reinvesting into his own company.

The responses were hysterical and economically naieve:

One comment on X sarcastically reads, “Capitalism is better than socialism because one man gets to be a trillionaire instead of everyone having healthcare.”

“Can’t stop thinking about how Wall Street is celebrating Elon Musk becoming the world’s first trillionaire while he single-handedly eliminated humanitarian aid that will lead to the needless deaths of 4.5 million of the poorest children in the world in the next 4 years.”

Sen. Elizabeth Warren weighed in and called for action. She wrote on X, “Elon Musk just became the world’s first trillionaire. The typical American household would have to work more than 11 MILLION years to make Elon Musk’s level of wealth. We need a wealth tax.”

Sen. Bernie Sanders, who has been vocal against billionaires, also raised opposition to Musk’s newly gained status. He said on X, “Today, Elon Musk, a trillionaire, pays the same amount into Social Security as someone making $184,500. If we end that absurdity and lift the cap on taxable income, we can make Social Security solvent for 75 years and expand benefits by $2,400. My Social Security bill does that.”

Dumbass of the Day

Somethings:

  • She has no idea what masculinity is. She’s a woman.
  • You know what men don’t talk about? How they are masculine.
  • I wonder if this “journalist” would ask Brad Pitt what he thought about his masculinity? She wouldn’t.
  • Eliot’s (Ellen) mannerisms are all feminine.
  • This is the most feminine conversation ever.

What Would Happen If They Lost

According to Perplexity:

New York saw large, chaotic street celebrations that turned violent in parts of Midtown Manhattan, especially around Times Square and near Madison Square Garden, after the Knicks clinched their first NBA title in 53 years.

When and where it happened

  • The unrest began late Saturday night, June 13, 2026, shortly after the Knicks won the championship in Game 5.
  • Crowds swelled to tens of thousands in Midtown, centered around Madison Square Garden, Broadway, and Times Square (roughly 34th–43rd Streets, between about 5th and 9th Avenues).

Scale: arrests and injuries

  • NYPD reports 63 arrests tied to the celebrations, with charges including assault on a police officer, weapons possession, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and obstructing governmental administration.
  • Ten NYPD officers were injured; incidents included one officer punched in the face and another hit with a glass bottle.
  • A 17‑year‑old was shot near 42nd–43rd Street and Broadway; police transported him in an NYPD vehicle because an ambulance could not get through the crowd. He was reported injured but alive/expected to survive.
  • Police and media also reported four stabbing or slashing incidents during the mayhem.

Property damage and specific incidents

  • Five yellow school buses, being used as World Cup shuttles, were either set on fire or heavily damaged (windows smashed, people jumping on roofs, battering them with bats) in and around Times Square.
  • Several NYPD vehicles were damaged, with windshields smashed and people climbing on top of cars.
  • Private vehicles and some storefronts in Midtown also suffered broken windows and other vandalism, according to police descriptions of “criminal mischief” and on‑scene reporting.
  • Fireworks were lit in dense crowds, and people were seen climbing light poles, scaffolding, and statues, further adding to safety concerns.

Police response and crowd dynamics

  • NYPD had anticipated trouble based on earlier playoff‑round incidents and deployed officers in riot gear, including mounted units, into Times Square and the blocks north of Madison Square Garden.
  • As celebrations grew, police described the crowd as becoming “increasingly destructive,” with officers moving in to disperse people blocking intersections, riding on vehicles, and refusing orders to clear the streets.
  • The bulk of the citywide crowds were celebratory and non‑violent, but a smaller subset engaged in the most serious property destruction and assaults, which is what generated the “mayhem” and “chaos” framing in coverage.

Context and open questions

  • This was the Knicks’ first championship since 1973, so the city had not experienced this specific kind of title‑driven street celebration in more than five decades.
  • There is not yet a finalized, detailed after‑action report from NYPD or the city breaking down arrests by exact charge, demographics, and geography, but outlets consistently cite the 63‑arrest figure, 10 injured officers, one shooting victim, and four stabbing victims.

Episode 1213 – That’s the Leader of Your Organization?!

Donald Trump finally has had enough with Iran. It’s about bloody time!

And let’s go over the House Judiciary Committees hearing over the accusations against the Southern Poverty Law Center. It was great.

Well, It’s About Time

U.S. forces carried out a new round of airstrikes on Iranian targets along the country’s southern coast and near the Strait of Hormuz late Tuesday/early Wednesday, framed by Washington as “retaliatory” and “self‑defense” strikes after Iran shot down a U.S. military helicopter earlier this week.

What actually happened

  • U.S. Central Command says American aircraft and missiles struck multiple Iranian military targets, including radar and air‑defense installations and other coastal sites that Washington argues were being used to threaten U.S. forces and shipping near the Strait of Hormuz.
  • The latest wave of strikes began around 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Tuesday, following the downing of a U.S. Apache helicopter over or near the Strait; both crew members were recovered alive by a U.S. sea drone according to U.S. officials.
  • U.S. officials describe the operation as a “measured retaliation” intended to deter further Iranian attacks while avoiding a full‑scale regional war, emphasizing that the targets were strictly military.

Despite the fighting, the U.S. has both resumed getting oil through the Strait of Hormuz and even conducted at least one covert shipment in recent days.[reuters]

Current U.S. flows through the Strait

  • The U.S. Energy Secretary said on June 9 that ship traffic and oil exports through the Strait of Hormuz and the wider Gulf are “rising very meaningfully” compared with the previous weeks when the corridor was more heavily disrupted by the conflict.[reuters]
  • The U.S. Energy Information Administration estimates that in 2024 the United States imported about 0.5 million barrels per day of crude oil and condensate from Persian Gulf countries via the Strait, a relatively small share of total U.S. supply but still significant.[eia]

Covert U.S. shipment Trump referenced

  • On June 10, President Trump told reporters that the U.S. had “secretly moved millions of barrels of oil” through the Strait of Hormuz, implying at least one protected or clandestine shipment during the current crisis.[cnbc]
  • Financial and energy media framed this as part of broader U.S. efforts to demonstrate that it can keep at least some flows moving even while bombing Iranian targets and escorting tankers.[cnbc]

How important the Strait is overall

  • Roughly 20–25% of the world’s seaborne oil trade—on the order of 20 million barrels per day—normally passes through the Strait of Hormuz, making it the single most critical oil chokepoint globally.[britannica]
  • Asia (China, India, South Korea, Japan and others) takes close to 90% of the crude moving through the Strait, while the U.S. directly receives only a small fraction (around 2–3% of those flows), which is why the U.S. is affected more through global price impacts than through physical shortages.[energynow]

The United States will be hitting Iran (Whose Navy, Air Force, Radar, Anti Aircraft, and all other forms of Defense, together with most its offensive capability, are GONE!), VERY HARD TONIGHT. At some point in the not too distant future, we will be taking Kharg Island, and other oil infrastructure points, and assume total control of their Oil and Gas Markets, much like we have with Venezuela, which is working out brilliantly for both Venezuela and the United States of America. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP

Episode 1204 – So What’s Next with Iran?

The Iran war may be entering its next stage. What is that? We don’t know and President Trump is trying to figure that out.

Pope Leo has some comments about AI and the dangers it may possess. He’s not wrong on a lot of it.

And Virginia is about to implement some of the harshest gun control laws in the country in violation of the Second Amendment. Thank God there are some real Americans still living in Virginia.

Some News:

Here is some news:

  • Hasan Piker has been subpoenaed by the Feds for violating Cuba sanctions.
    • They are focusing on Leftists donors that made this trip possible.
    • This is also a way to counter the anti-U.S. propaganda.
  • Tulsi Gabbard has resigned from her position in the government. She is the Director of National Intelligence.
    • Her husband is suffering from a rare bone disease and she has decided to be with him.
  • President Donald Trump will convene a rare Cabinet meeting at Camp David Wednesday as negotiations with Iran enter a critical phase.
    • All Cabinet members are expected to attend the meeting, first reported by the New York Post and confirmed by Fox News, including outgoing Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard.
  • A gunman has been shot dead after approaching a White House security checkpoint and firing at officers, federal officials have said.
    • The White House, where Donald Trump was present, was briefly locked down on Saturday as the sound of a sustained volley of gunshots rang out, sending journalists in the area running for cover.
    • A crazed gunman who believed he was Jesus Christ pulled out a revolver and opened fire outside the White House Saturday night, before he was quickly taken down by a barrage of shots from the Secret Service, sources said.
    • Nasire Best, 21, fired at a checkpoint at about 6:10 p.m. after being seen pacing in a strange manner up and down 17th St. Northwest, sources told The Post. He only got off a few shots before he was shot and killed in a hail of bullets from federal officers.
    • During the shooting, a bystander was also shot. The Secret Service said: “It remains unclear whether the bystander was struck by the suspect’s initial gunfire or during the subsequent exchange of gunfire.”
  • Kyle Busch, the two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion, died at the age of 41 from complications related to severe pneumonia that progressed into sepsis. His passing was announced on May 21, 2026, just hours after he was hospitalized for a severe illness.

Dude, Stay in Your Lane

According to Fox News:

Pope Leo unveiled the Vatican’s new encyclical, “Magnifica Humanitas,” warning that artificial intelligence risks becoming a tool of “domination, exclusion and death” unless governments and institutions place moral limits on the rapidly developing technology.

The Vatican is formally entering the global debate over artificial intelligence as governments and tech companies race to develop increasingly powerful AI systems with limited international regulation.

The pontiff invoked Pope Leo XIII’s 1891 encyclical “Rerum Novarum,” which addressed worker exploitation during the Industrial Revolution, arguing that AI represents a similarly transformative moment threatening human dignity.

“Today we find ourselves facing a transformation of similar magnitude, with perhaps even greater consequences,” the Pope said.

The pope warned about increasingly autonomous weapons systems that are beyond meaningful human control. He also said AI systems could block access to healthcare, employment and security because of biased data. He compared AI governance to nuclear arms control.

“Like nuclear energy, it must be at the service of all and of the common good,” he said.

The pope said disarming AI alone is not enough and called on governments and institutions to “build” systems rooted in trust and human dignity. Recalling devastating floods in Peru, he said rebuilding means restoring trust and hope.

The pope also laid out the church’s broader argument about humanity and technology.

“The person bears within him- or herself a freedom, an interiority and a vocation to love and worship that no machine can replace,” he said.

The Vatican is attempting to insert moral theology into a largely secular technological arms race.

“Stay awake,” the pope urged, warning humanity not to surrender moral judgment to machines.

The Law Is the Law

According to Fox News:

Ryan Mehaffey, a Marine veteran and Virginia prosecutor, is taking a hard-line stance against what he believes is an “unconstitutional” new gun ban signed by Democratic Gov. Abigail Spanberger.

Spanberger, who has been slipping in the polls amid criticisms of her progressive policy agenda, signed a new bill last week banning the future sale and manufacture of “assault weapons,” including many semiautomatic rifles, pistols and shotguns. The law also bans the future sale of magazines with a capacity of more than 15 rounds.

The move caused immediate backlash from many Virginians and raised new Second Amendment violation concerns. Rather than protest, however, Mehaffey, who serves as the commonwealth attorney for Spotsylvania County, is drawing a line in the sand and flatly refusing to enforce the ban.

With the bill set to take effect this July ahead of America’s 250th anniversary of independence, Mehaffey sent a letter to Spotsylvania Sheriff Roger Harris, instructing him that the ban is “unconstitutional and cannot be lawfully enforced.”

He said

“Our founders were careful to make sure when they drafted our founding document, that the ultimate right of the people was preserved to defend themselves and to defend their community. So, the linchpin of the constitutional analysis is going to be does this instrument have some reasonable relationship to the preservation or efficiency of a regulated militia.”

Mehaffey argues that in Virginia, historical tradition and case law precedent not only allow citizens to own firearms but even require them to arm themselves with the weapons of a basic infantryman for common defense. In the Founding Fathers’ time, Mehaffey said the standard issue was a musket and 20 rounds. Today, the basic infantry weapon in the U.S. military is the M4A1 carbine equipped with a 30-round magazine.

“The second amendment may not mean that you are allowed to have a nuclear weapon,” he laughed. “But what it does allow you to have is a basic infantry weapon.”

“That sort of weapon is the core of what’s protected by the Second Amendment. Not necessarily a nuclear warhead, but a rifle that you can take out and form either a fire team or a company to defend yourself and to defend your community.”

“My position is not based on politics. It is based on constitutional fidelity,” he continued, adding, “The Bill of Rights either means something, or it does not.”

“As Commonwealth’s Attorney, I took an oath to support and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution of Virginia. That oath is not situational, and it does not change based on politics, headlines, or pressure from either side of an issue.”

Mehaffey believes he and those standing beside him on this issue will ultimately prevail.

“The Second Amendment is the supreme law of the land, both in the U.S. Constitution and the analog in the Virginia Constitution,” he explained. “So, whatever law is passed by the General Assembly is not going to have the ability to supersede the Constitution.”

Episode 1190 – Digging Deep to Find Racism!

Surprise, surprise, surprise! Talks with Iran may begin again this week.

The Donald Trump and Pope Leo are having a tiff. I have some thoughts.

And have you mowed your lawn this week? If you did, you are a racist!

News

Here is some news:

  • Peace talks between the U.S. and Iran could restart as soon as Thursday this week after President Donald Trump imposed a blockade on Iranian ports.
  • A fragile truce between Tehran and Washington remains in place as leaders attempt to negotiate a wider deal.
  • I do have some comments about the Pope Leo/Donald Trump kurfuffle.
  • President Joe Biden’s administration relied on information gathered from radical pro-abortion groups to track, prosecute, and snoop on peaceful pro-life protesters, shocking emails released Tuesday by the Trump administration show.

Do Any of These Guys Take Any Personal Responsibility?

According to the Daily Wire:

Maine Democrat Graham Platner, who is running for the U.S. Senate in Maine, faced backlash for his Nazi-symbol tattoo and several nasty social media posts — and during a recent interview, he attributed both on the “culture” that he was exposed to while serving in the United States military.

Platner, who served both in the Marine Corps and the U.S. Army, got the tattoo covered up after the initial public outcry, appeared on “The Takeout with Major Garrett” — and he argued that the “hyper-masculine” culture in the infantry had “colored” his perspective in the past.

So military culture, hyper-masculinity (toxic masculinity), and hyper-violence caused him to be a racist and get a Nazi tattoo. Hmm, OK.

Also, he admits that he’s a racist. And he decided not to be a racist and get rid of that tattoo after he decided to run for the Senate.

Makes absolute sense to me. Let’s vote for him.

By the way, he wouldn’t be the first Democrat that was a racist.

Dumbass of the Day

According to the Post Millennial:

A woke TikTok user is facing widespread backlash online after posting a video arguing that maintaining a well-kept lawn is tied to racism.

The user, @softchaoschannel, shared a video on Monday on TikTok, saying, “I can’t stop thinking about how grass lawns are racist and like, based in white supremacy.”

Um, so keeping a nice lawn is white supremacy? Does that mean blacks and other people of color don’t like nice lawn (I know that’s not true)?

Why is a well-kept lawn racist? Is it because blacks are incapable to keep lawn well manicured?

Probably. The Left already tells us blacks can’t be on time, can’t work hard, can’t get IDs, can’t get into colleges and so forth.

This is the bigotry of low expectations. This is racism. This is the true white supremacy. All infront of her nice house and, probably, well-manacured lawn.

Episode 1189 – They Will Always Eat Their Own!

Negotiations have started and finished over the Iran war. If anyone thought Trump doesn’t know what he’s doing is very odd to me.

The race for governor is heating up in California. You can tell. The backstabbing has begun.

And the Artemis II mission comes to a spectacular end. Folks, we’re going back to the moon.

News

Here is some news:

  • Along the Iran front
    • Talks have broken down in Pakistan after just 24 hours.
    • The United States had six “red lines” that Iran must adhere to:
      • Open the Straight of Hormuz with no conditions.
      • Iran must end all uranium enrichment.
      • Iran must dismantle all nuclear facilities.
      • Iran must retreive and turn over all enriched unranium.
      • Accept peace framework initiated by the United States.
      • Iran must end funding to terror proxies including Hamas, the Houthis, and Hezbollah.
    • Trump is not surprised. He announced a blockage of the Straight of Hormuz.
      • He plans to clear all mines.
      • We will be getting help from some other countries.
    • There has been nothing said about bombing power plants or taking Kharg Island.
  • Eric Swalwell, the nominee for governor of California is under investigation for rape in New York.
    • He has been accused of a multitude of things including:
      • Paying a prostitute (there’s video of this).
      • Paying a nanny with campaign funds.
      • Thge nanny was also accused of being an illegal alien.
      • Accused of sleeping with interns.
    • Strange how all this comes out now.
  • Finally, the Orion spacecraft came back to Earth, safe and sound in one of the most amazing missions in human history.

This Should Not Be a Standard

According to the New York Post:

The deranged homeless man accused of savagely butchering Iryna Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee, on a Charlotte light rail train has been found “incapable to proceed” on state murder charges.

According to a motion filed April 7, Decarlos Brown Jr. was evaluated Dec. 29 at Central Regional Hospital, and the subsequent report determined he was not competent to stand trial, according to WBTV. His attorney has asked the court to delay his competency hearing by 180 days.

The results were previously sealed in state court and were only revealed as the motion was filed.

Prosecutors did not object to the requested 180-day delay of Brown’s Rule 24 hearing, which was previously scheduled for April 30, which will determine whether he is fit to proceed with a potential death penalty trial.

Brown is also facing federal charges — and will remain in custody on that case, his lawyer Daniel Roberts said.

A judge must now determine whether to accept the report’s findings, and the case against him will likely be delayed until his capacity is determined to be “restored” by the court, the station reported.

In the motion filed by Brown’s public defender, he claimed the court-required capacity hearing cannot take place with the accused killer in federal custody, and that the court also can’t order to have his capacity restored.

If a judge agrees Brown is incompetent to stand trial, state law mandates the charges be dismissed. However, if the judge issues the ruling without prejudice, state murder charges could be refiled if he ever regains his capacity to be tried.

A similar situation happened in the Tar Heel State in 2020 when murder charges were dismissed without prejudice against Buford James Penley after he was determined to be incompetent by multiple psychologists, including one who worked for the DA’s office.

Under North Carolina law, a defendant is deemed capable to proceed to trial if they can understand the nature and object of the proceedings, comprehend his or her situation in reference to the proceedings, and assist in his or her defense in a rational or reasonable manner.

Brown has been in federal custody in Chicago since a grand jury indicted him on Oct. 22 for violence against a railroad carrier and mass transportation system causing death. He faces state charges of first-degree murder.

He’s been ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation pursuant to his federal case, but court filings viewed by the outlet last month show it hasn’t been completed and that the evaluation period has been extended.

The outlet reports that restoring competency can take a long time in North Carolina because of limited space in state psychiatric facilities, and said it’s not uncommon for defendants to wait a year or more for a bed to open up.

Brown, 35, whose mother told The Post is schizophrenic, was arrested at least 14 times in North Carolina for crimes ranging from assault and firearms possession to felony robbery dating back to 2007.

Gavin Is Finished

The best thing that Gavin Newsom can do to save his presidential chances is to divorce his wife. He sure ain’t going to be able to shut her up. And she’s way too arrogant to realize she is actually hurting her husband’s chance of winning a future political office. He should have known he was in trouble when she started going around and calling herself the “first partner” instead of the “first lady.”

Let’s listen to a couple of her greatest hits that have come out over the last couple of weeks.

This is Kamala Harris all over again, talking about girl-power feminism.

Here she is being more clear about her thoughts about the power of feminism. She has an idea what would happen if women and their “allies” took over.

That’s right. She would censor and cancel anything that she didn’t like or was “mean.” She sounds like she is saying women would be tyrants.

What’s worse is she is incredibly woke. This is something her husband has been trying to get away from. She’s just dragging her ass right back into it.

Then this little gem got released.

Episode 1188 – THE U.S.A. IS AWESOME!

Donald Trump has had it with Iran’s lack of cooperation. Iran has six hours to figure it out.

California is an absolute mess. We, in California, knew it. Apparently CBS News just figured it out.

And NASA, with four brave astronauts, prove that America is awesome!

News

  • President Donald Trump has given Iran until 8 p.m. ET to reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face strikes against its power plants and bridges on Tuesday.
  • The United Nations has warned that Trump’s threats to target Iran’s power plants and bridges could constitute war crimes if they are carried out.
  • Rep. John Larson, D-Conn., is mounting a long-shot bid to impeach President Donald Trump as he stares down a primary threat from younger challengers, who seek to thwart his bid for a 15th House term.
    • Larson, 77, introduced 13 articles of impeachment against Trump on Monday, citing the president’s military intervention in Venezuela, the deployment of National Guard troops to cities across the country and his executive order to curtail birthright citizenship, among other charges.
    • Larson also charged Trump with “murder, war crimes and piracy” for ordering a naval blockade around Venezuela targeting U.S.-sanctioned oil tankers ahead of the U.S. capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in January and for launching dozens of strikes against alleged drug trafficking vessels in the Eastern Pacific and the Caribbean.
  • Researchers found that California’s minimum wage hike for fast-food workers led to “negative outcomes” such as automation and reduced work hours.
    • The researchers at the University of California, Santa Cruz suggested in a report published in March that the policy could produce unintended consequences such as an increase in menu prices, a loss of overtime and benefits, reductions in employee working hours, and an implementation of automation that replaces workers.
  • Artemis II’s four astronauts zoomed past Apollo 13’s 248,655-mile mark around 1:56 p.m. ET, reaching 248,656 miles as their aircraft hurtled past the moon at nearly 2,000 mph.
    • Then hours later, shortly after 7 p.m.., the crew set a new record for the farthest distance humans have traveled from Earth, at a staggering 252,756 miles. The astronauts then beginning their long journey back to Earth .
    • The distance record was set just minutes after the capsule made its closest approach to the moon around 4,067 miles in altitude.
    • It also came in the thick of Artemis II’s communications blackout, which was expected to last about 40 minutes while the moon blocked any signals between Orion and the Earth.
    • Communications resumed around 7:25 p.m.

Do you want a version of this table recalculated for a different typical California price (for example, 5.50 or 6.50 dollars per gallon)?

Just Think About This

Believe it or not, California is still thinking of building this high speed rail system. They’ve already blown $34 billion for:

Roughly 0 miles of the California high‑speed rail system are actually in service; what exists today is partially built civil works on the initial Central Valley segment, not an operating line.

What’s physically built so far

  • Construction is active along a 119‑mile Central Valley “spine” from around Madera through Fresno and Kings/Tulare toward Kern County, but this is mainly earthwork, bridges, viaducts, and graded guideway, not finished track.
  • As of early 2026, about 70–80 miles of guideway (the prepared railbed/structure) are complete, and roughly 55–60 major structures (bridges, overpasses, viaducts) are finished, with a few dozen more under construction.
  • No true high‑speed rail track is in service yet; the Authority is only now moving into contracts to lay track and install systems on that 119‑mile spine, with track installation expected to begin in 2026.

Maybe California should just give up on this train thing.

More Bad Policy

According to the New York Post:

Worker advocates in Oakland are pressing for a $30 minimum wage, mirroring a similar goal from socialist New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani from across the country.

A worker’s organization, One Fair Wage, is hoping to put forward a ballot initiative to raise the minimum wage in the area. The organization believes the wage increase will help workers with the expensive cost of living in the Bay Area, especially with the affordability crisis.

The push comes as Oakland continues grappling with a deep structural budget shortfall and ongoing fiscal instability, with officials warning recurring expenses are outpacing revenue.

Essentially, the city wants to raise the minimum wage so they can take more money in taxes. Of course, as usual, this assumes everyone working now will be working when the minimum wage goes up, which they surely won’t. It’s basically a big redistribution program.

By the way, this is why they keep raising the minimum wage. It gets a lot of votes and is easy to do. It is economic suicide, but everyone loves it. Except people that do all the signing of paychecks.

“Every time there has been a downturn or a serious challenge to the economy, in the end, we raise wages as a stimulus,” Saru Jayaraman, the president of One Fair Wage, told Center Square.

“It’s basically a stimulus in the hands of working people, who spend a much bigger percentage of their income than higher-income people because they have to. It’s survival,” she added.

One Fair Wage says the proposed ballot initiative would gradually institute the $30 minimum wage within the city and Alameda County until reaching the proposed amount in 2030. Oakland’s current minimum wage is $17.34 an hour, and California’s minimum wage sits at $16.90 an hour.

A $30 minimum wage would be the highest in the country. New York City legislators introduced a bill last month to also introduce a $30 minimum wage.

Who’d of Thunk It?

According to the Post Millennial:

Police “reforms” in Boston replaced cops with mental health clinicians and social workers, and on Saturday one of those clinicians was attacked by a delusional man wielding a sword. The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, attacked the clinician as well as police officers with the sword. Cops responded by shooting and killing the suspect.

The incident took place near the Northeastern University campus on Saturday morning in Boston. Officers were responding to a 911 call about four people armed with guns and the caller was in the apartment building. After officers arrived at 212 Hemenway Street and located the disturbance they called in a mental health professional with the Boston’s BEST program, according to Mass Daily News.

The program, in which mental health professionals ride along with cops to de-escalate tense situations, has been running since 2011. The EMS clinician deployed to the scene spoke to the man for 45 minutes through the door before the suspect pushed open the door and attacked.

“He immediately opened the door and struck the clinician and an officer who was outside the door. He was armed with some type of sword, stabbing the officer in the arm and knocking the EMS clinician to the ground,” Boston Police Commissioner Michael Cox said. “One or more officers, which is under investigation at this time, fired a taser and weapon at the individual, bringing the person to a halt.”

The suspect as well as the officers and clinician that were attacked by the suspect were taken to the hospital. The suspect was later pronounced dead. “This was a very chaotic circumstance. The individual was clearly in some sort of mental distress,” Suffolk County District Attorney Kevin Hayden said.

Boston EMS said in a statement that their employee had gotten injured in the altercation.

“Our focus tonight remains on the two members of Boston EMS, including one of our BEST clinicians, who were treated and transported to the hospital after the incident on Hemenway Street in Boston. Both suffered non-life-threatening injuries,” the statement read.

“Today serves as a reminder of the dangers inherent in this work and the sacrifice our members make every day. Members of Boston EMS show up to save lives — not to be assaulted. No one should face violence for simply doing their job. Our thoughts are with our injured members, the Boston Police officers, and everyone affected by today’s incident.”

Interesting

According to the Daily Wire:

The concept is simple: Store your silenced cell phone in a “chicken coop” while you enjoy your Chick-fil-A meal in-store and get a free “Icedream” cone as your reward for staying present with your chicken sandwich and your fellow guests. Open to groups and solo acts, the initiative got its start at a Chick-fil-A in the Atlanta area back in 2016. It hasn’t gotten the nationwide rollout treatment, but it pops up around the country every so often at the whim of individual franchisees. This month, the hype went global after Complex posted Chick-fil-A phone challenge signage on X.

Commenters quickly responded with enthusiasm for the stroke of marketing genius behind quality family time and an immersive tech cleansing. But others called out the “sad” state of affairs with someone adding, “Society has hit a low point holy sh*t.” One hater posted, “I’m trying to enjoy my chicken, not talk to my d*mn family.” Another person bet that this particular Maryland-based Chick-fil-A would be giving out zero ice cream cones since no one can stay off their phones these days.

Well, random X user, I brought receipts proving that at least five people have successfully completed the task and cashed in on those cones: my two parents and the three teenagers they paid to participate in the same challenge at another table. Having known my mom and dad my whole life, this all checks out.

My parents FaceTimed me the minute they returned from their mission, sharing boots-on-the-ground perspective on the promo everyone else in America wishes their local Chick-fil-A was running. They were already fans of Chick-fil-A, as well as the Towson Place location’s spacious dining area and flawless customer service. “I love ‘It’s my pleasure,’” my mom said.

I confessed to stopping by Chick-fil-A when I lived in Los Angeles purely because, unlike people in the rest of the city, the chain’s friendly employees seemed to enjoy serving customers. But back to the challenge at hand.

“We were expecting a chicken coop,” my mom said. There are many representations of the  “coop” from the Chick-fil-A phone challenge on social media (one claims to be made of wood), but the Towson Place version involves a plain white cardboard box meant to secure your phone. (Apparently, it could have used some fun chicken-related decoration, according to “reviews.”)

Still, my parents persisted, roping in a trio of local teens into the mix, who my mom says “were like … ‘o-kay?’” about the idea. The boys had completed the challenge before and were happy to walk these nice elderly people through the process, accepting $2 each in cash. My parents value the quality time of other people’s grandchildren. And still carry cash.

They placed their order at the counter, sat down at the table with their drinks, and stowed their phones in the “coop” once their food arrived.

“Wait. So do you normally use your phone during dinner?” I asked, having no idea what my parents do in their free time.

“No, but I usually have it at the ready,” my mom said, like most of us. (How else are we gonna pick it up 186 times a day?) But when she admitted, “I checked my purse for my phone 10 times while my phone was still in the ‘coop,’” my eyeballs ejected from my face. Full disclosure, I did ask her to document as much pre- and post-coop action as possible. But I was shocked. The challenge, which is so obviously aimed at kids, even had my mom feeling the benefits from sealing her phone in a cardboard box.

“I’ve watched many families come in with young kids, and they do it,” said Natalie Martz, owner of the Towson Place Chick-fil-A. “I’ve seen adults come in with adult children and do it.”

Maybe the Chick-fil-A challenge is just a wholesome excuse to encourage customers to “eat mor chikin” and make it an occasion by purchasing meals for the whole family. But breaking bread sans phones might lead to small, surprising joys beyond chicken nuggets — no matter your age.

“I haven’t had a cone in years,” my mom recalled. “It was nostalgic. It brought back good memories for me.” Chick-fil-A happens to be celebrating its 80th anniversary this year with a “Newstalgia” marketing blitz that features retro packaging on drinks and sandwiches along with all-new plushie cows.

“The cone was really good,” my dad reported. That comment on the actual cone part of the old-school vanilla soft-serve dessert is notably high praise from a non-foodie. It warmed my heart hearing that they had fun with the assignment.

As one fan summed it up on Instagram, “A free ice cream for being present with your people? That’s a deal worth taking.” Try the challenge for yourself at a participating Chick-fil-A or politely ask your local shop to get in on the action. I’m sure it would be their pleasure.
