The Media wonders why diseases that have already been eradicated in the United States are suddenly making a curtain. They blame Conservatives. I think it might be something else.
New York City is becoming a shithole and is beginning to smell like it.
And the wonder drug, marijuana, might not be as much a wonder as has been pushed.
Could It Be Something Else?
According to the Guardian:
Though measles had been eradicated in the US in 2000, the disease is expected to continue a nationwide spread primarily because of vaccine skepticism, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has said.
Measles, one of the most transmissible diseases, has been found in recent weeks in some north-eastern US states, according to the CDC.
The health agency warned healthcare workers about an uptick in measles infections and urged them to be on alert for new cases.
An email from the CDC sent to healthcare workers last week said the agency was notified of 23 confirmed US cases of measles between 1 December 2023 and 23 January 2024.
Most of these infections were in children and teenagers who had not gotten their measles vaccines despite being eligible. So far, measles cases have been found in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and the Washington DC area.
Taylor Nelson, a University of Missouri healthcare center infectious disease physician, said to the news station KRCG that measles would probably spread to the midwest and the west coast given the situation laid out by the CDC.
Later:
The CDC email said measles cases often originate from unvaccinated or undervaccinated people who travel internationally and then transmit the disease to others who are not vaccinated against the disease.
Hmm, I wonder where measles came from. It’s been eradicated since 2000. Why is it making a comeback? Could it be all the illegal aliens entering the country from places that do not have any vaccination programs?
Other diseases are making a comeback:
- Polio (Afghanistan, Middle East).
- Bubonic plague.
- Scarlet fever.
- Monkey pox.
- Mumps.
- Chicken pos.
- Whooping cough.
- Cholera (Haiti).
- Tuberculosis.
As far as most people being unvaccinated, I call bullshit. You can’t do much of anything without being vaccinated. including going to school.
A Sh*thole
According to the New York Post:
It can really stink to live here.
New Yorkers are being smoked out of their own apartments by the stench of marijuana. Since cannabis was legalized in the city in 2021, its pungent odor has become increasingly common on NYC streets, and now Gothamites say they can’t even escape it in their own homes.
“The smell is so strong it wakes me up or makes it hard to relax and go to bed. Sometimes I get nauseous or allergic itchy eyes and a sore throat from how concentrated it is,” said Delaney, 25, a business owner who lives in Cobble Hill. For the past six months, the the odor has been unbearable in her fourth floor walk-up.
“It’s been almost every single night, primarily in my bedroom between 10 p.m. and 2 p.m.,” she said.
She went to college in Oregon shortly after cannabis was legalized there, so she’s used to the occasional whiff. But this smell is next level, and it’s driving her crazy — literally.
“I live alone so I often second guess myself or feel like I am overreacting, but then I had family in town and they walked into my apartment and said it smelled like it had been hot-boxed,” she said.
Delaney has emailed with her building manager and landlord about the issue. While they were sympathetic to her plight, they said there wasn’t much they could do, so long as people are using cannabis in their own apartments
And, she’s not even sure where the smell is coming from.
“I’ve even run around the building in my PJs and slippers — quite the sight — at midnight to see if I could figure out what apartment it was coming from,” she said. “I narrowed it down to a few, but since they all had their doors and windows closed it was really just my best guess.”

According to the New York Post:
A study published in the Journal of the American Heart Association and funded by the National Institutes of Health found that those who smoke weed daily are at a significantly higher risk of suffering heart attack and stroke than those who don’t.
“We know that toxins are released when cannabis is burned, similar to those found in tobacco smoke,” said Abra Jeffers, a data analyst at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and former researcher at the Center for Tobacco Control Research and Education at the University of California, San Francisco, where the study was based.
“We’ve known for a long time that smoking tobacco is linked to heart disease, and this study is evidence that smoking cannabis appears to also be a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, which is the leading cause of death in the United States,” Jeffers’ statement continued. “Cannabis use could be an important, underappreciated source of heart disease.”
Researchers analyzed data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 434,104 American adults aged 18 to 74 between 2016 and 2020. About 4% were daily cannabis users, 7% used the drug about five days a month and 88.9% had not used any marijuana in the past 30 days.
Among current users, about three-fourths said they mostly smoked the drug.
“Cannabis use is increasing in both prevalence and frequency, while conventional tobacco smoking is declining,” said Dr. Salomeh Keyhani, a professor of medicine at UCSF and senior author of the study, in a separate statement. “Cannabis use by itself might, over time, become the more important risk factor.”
Keyhani’s report showed that people who inhaled cannabis via combustion were 25% more likely to have a heart attack than those who didn’t use the drug at all. The daily habit also increased their chances of having a stroke by 42%.
The likelihood of experiencing a cardiovascular condition was much lower for non-daily users but still higher than for those who did not use marijuana at all.
Those who used the drug sporadically had a 3% increased risk for heart attack compared with nonusers and a 5% increase for stroke.
Nothing Costs a Dollar Anymore
According to the New York Post:
Dollar Tree is planning to close nearly 1,000 stores collectively between its namesake general discount stores and subsidiary chain, Family Dollar.
Family Dollar will close 600 locations in the first half of 2024 and 370 stores over the next several years as store leases expire, the company said Wednesday.
Dollar Tree, which bought Family Dollar for $8.5 billion in 2015, will also be closing 30 stores as leases expire.
“Our biggest problem right now is getting enough merchandise into the stores fast enough so the consumer can respond,” said CEO Rick Dreiling, adding that Family Dollar was continuing to be hurt by macroeconomic uncertainties.
Dollar stores have suffered in recent months as consumer spending habits have shifted, favoring e-commerce platforms such as Temu, the Chinese app that has ballooned in popularity for offering everyday must-haves on the app for as low as 99 cents.
Later in the article:
Also on Wednesday, Dollar Tree reported a net loss of $1.71 billion, or $7.85 per share in the quarter ended Feb. 3, compared with a year-ago profit of $452.2 million, or $2.04 per share.
It expects 2024 sales between $31 billion and $32 billion, the mid-point of which is below the estimate of $31.65 billion, according to LSEG data.
Representatives for Dollar Tree did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for comment.
Recently, Family Dollar has also been plagued with health and safety concerns — including when the Food and Drug Administration said cinnamon sold by the deep-discount retailer was contaminated with high levels of lead.
Weeks earlier, Family Dollar pleaded guilty to selling goods at 400 stores across the Southeast that came from a rodent-infested warehouse. As a result, it will cough up a record $41.7 million in fines to the feds.
