And the mental health industry has matured and become so advanced, the pharmaceutical companies are helping to flush out mental problems.

A developer is planning to build thousands of homes and a large commercial development on a 520-acre property outside Richmond, Virginia, that American Indian tribes say is a sacred site and the birthplace of Pocahontas’ father.
The groups are seeking to stop or alter the project, arguing that the land holds significant cultural and historical value and could contain burial sites and undiscovered artifacts. The property, known as Tree Hill, is believed to be the birthplace of Powhatan, an American Indian leader and the father of Pocahontas. Powhatan was born in the mid-1500s and was known as the “chief of chiefs,” as other leaders paid him tribute.
The land was later used as a plantation, and during the Civil War, it was used as an encampment for Union troops. In the last two decades, Tree Hill has been owned by Gray Land and Development Company, which currently leases the property to farms that grow crops. The land is slated to be sold to real estate company Brookfield Residential, which plans to construct approximately 2,300 single-family homes, townhouses, and condominiums, along with roughly 1.1 million square feet in commercial, office, and retail space.
Construction is expected to begin next summer and continue for over a decade. Roughly 320 acres would be reserved as public green space, while 7.5 acres would be set aside as a commemorative site for American Indians.
The opposition coalition, known as Protect Powhatan’s Birthplace, includes six tributes and historians and preservationists. Members have different goals for the property, with some advocating for its sale to American Indians and others calling for a larger portion of the land to receive dedication.
Disagreement has also been raised about the property’s historical significance. Wolf Creek Cherokee, which is not a federally or state-recognized tribe, has rejected the claim that Tree Hill is the birthplace of Powhatan.

A 19-year-old trans-identified man was arrested in Illinois over the weekend after allegedly plotting to carry out a mass shooting at a Hindu temple. Police said that Alexandros Paporakis had driven to the Hindu Temple in southwest suburban Aurora armed but the gun jammed when he attempted to carry out his plan.
Authorities said that Paporakis drove from his mother’s home in Palatine to the temple in Aurora on Sunday, which had been filled with people. Police said he wanted to “kill a significant number of Indians,” Per NBC Chicago. The outlet referred to Paporakis as “he” despite his identifying as trans. The same outlet referred to the Tumbler Ridge trans shooter as “she” the difference is the target.
Investigators said they found a modified AR-style rifle in his possession, as well as 300 rounds of ammo, body armor, gasoline cans, and swastikas. When he attempted to open fire, his gun jammed, and he drove home, where he “searched internet trying to learn how to unjam his gun & called a colleague informing them of (his) intent to carry out a mass shooting.”
That coworker reported to police that he had received concerning communications from Paporakis that day, which led law enforcement to obtain a search warrant and arrest Paporakis. The police were able to identify a red Acura registered to Paporakis after the tip, and surveillance video showed the suspect entering the temple’s parking lot at around 12:25 pm and exiting three minutes later. He was later observed driving to his mother’s residence. He was arrested before he could return to the temple.
Investigators said that they recovered a manifesto believed to have been written by Paporakis, who referred to himself as the “Aurora shooter.” The writings “expressed words of hate, violence, superior race and mass shooting of Indian people,” and expressed hatred against African Americans, Indians, Jewish People, and “non-white” people. Investigators said he “expressed pleasure calling himself a sociopathic white supremacist Neo-Nazi filled with hatred, fantasizing about mass murder nearly every day.”
Paporakis is facing gun charges and is accused of making a terrorist threat. He has been ordered to be held without bond by a Cook County judge, who placed a healthcare order on the teen, noting that he’s being treated for ADHD, depression, anxiety, and is receiving cross-sex hormones for a sex change.

The mother of a 5-year-old who was found beaten to death in her home in Queens on Monday admitted to the 911 operator: “I killed my daughter,” according to a new report.
The mother, Francis Cabello, made the admission just before police were sent to 110th Street near 95th Avenue in South Richmond Hill on Wednesday, the New York Post reported. The mother was waiting at the front door when police arrived. She told them when they entered the home, “She’s upstairs not breathing.”
The 5-year-old girl, identified as Fabiana Cabello, was found unresponsive and lying on the ground with blood coming out of her nose. Although she had a weak pulse, efforts to revive her were not successful as emergency personnel took her to the Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where she was later pronounced dead.
Her mother appeared to be emotionless and did not shed tears over the incident when she was taken away in handcuffs, a neighbor told the outlet.
The mother’s father, Franklin Cabello, told reporters that the mother “wasn’t 100 percent there.” He said that the mother had been off her psych meds and was hospitalized just three months before the daughter was killed.
