Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics

According to The Hill:

Price increases have fallen to their lowest level in more than three years in the latest reading of the Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge, strengthening the outlook for more interest rate cuts to come.

The personal consumption expenditures (PCE) price index slid to a 2.1-percent annual increase in September, down from 2.3 percent in August and 2.5 percent in July, according to the Commerce Department.

Prices for goods decreased 1.2 percent on the month and prices for energy decreased 8.1 percent. The national average price for a gallon of gasoline is down to $3.13, according to auto service provider AAA. A year ago, it was $3.47.

“While critics said we needed a recession to lower inflation, instead inflation has come down while our economy has grown more than 12% over the course of my Administration—the fastest rate of any presidential term in the 21st century,” President Biden said in a statement.

The Democrats are celebrating:

This ignores

  • PPI inflation – 1.8%
  • CPI inflation – 2.4%

A Crappy Person in General

According to the New York Post:

Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz had a love affair with the daughter of a Chinese Communist Party official during his teaching stint in Foshan that was so stormy, it drove her to the brink of suicide, The Post has learned.

Jenna Wang, 59, told The Post in a phone interview Monday that she had fallen head over heels for the now-Minnesota governor when he was a young high school English instructor in Foshan, Guangdong province, China.

Wang expected the passionate 1989 affair to end in a proposal — but instead, it resulted in a breakup that made her consider taking her own life.

“I was deeply insulted, hurt and I had to leave that place, because many people knew that we had a relationship,” Wang explained, saying that Walz had implied that he intended to marry her.

That included sending Wang letters after returning to the US over the following summer and even asking for a passport-size photo of her to be sent back to Denver, she said, implying that Walz was helping her to obtain a visa.

“His lack of character, as a man, a responsible person who had worked in education or [the] military,” she added. “I thought he also loved me. I loved him.”

Expect Far More of This

According to Fox News:

A group of 2,000 migrants making its way to the U.S. border could be the start of a wave of attempted crossings as the presidential election nears, according to one expert.

“I think whatever deal we struck with the government of Mexico to slow the flow leading up to the election to make the numbers look better for Harris’ campaign ends the day after the election,” Lora Ries, director of the Heritage Foundation’s Border Security and Immigration Center, told Fox News Digital, referring to the Biden administration’s coordination with the Mexican government earlier this year on executive action that allowed the president to temporarily suspend entry into the country.

The comments come after roughly 2,000 migrants departed from Mexico’s border on Sunday, according to a report from CBS Austin, with some admitting that they are making the journey now over fears about the result of the presidential election.

“Whoever wins (in the U.S. election) should not close the doors to us, [they] should give us the support we need, because we are all really going through a bad time,” one of the migrants told The Associated Press.

Ries expects that flow to intensify between Election Day and the inauguration if former President Trump defeats Vice President Kamala Harris, noting that migrants will fear Trump will do more to close off the southern border.

“We saw this for Trump’s first term, when numbers of people tried to get in before he came into office, because they knew he would be enforcement-minded,” Ries said, adding that a Trump victory this time would result in “quite the jump in numbers” for illegal crossings.
