- The GOP-led Senate narrowly advanced on Saturday night the “One Big, Beautiful Bill” championed by President Donald Trump.
- By a 51-49 vote, the upper chamber passed a motion to proceed, ending an hours-long standoff on the legislation that features many of Trump’s spending and tax priorities.
- While Senate Republicans are trying to meet Trump’s July 4 deadline to get the bill to his desk, Democrats are employing tactics that will slow down the process.
- After the procedural vote concluded on Saturday night, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) immediately asked for a reading of the legislation, which is more than 900 pages long and will likely take over 10 hours to get through.
- “Remember: we still have to read the bill on the floor, hold up to 20 hrs of debate, and ‘vote-a-rama’ where we’ll wear the libs down on amendment votes. Then, House passage. Busy weekend,” Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK) said.
- Israel Defense Forces announced on Saturday that Hakham Muhammad Issa Al-Issa — one of the Hamas terrorists who helped to plan the October 7 massacre and train those who carried it out — had been “eliminated.”
- GE Appliances announced this week that it’s moving even more of its production from China to Kentucky, and investing nearly half-a-billion dollars.
- Leaders of Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo joined President Donald Trump at the White House to celebrate the United States-brokered peace agreement on Friday.
- Rwandan Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe and Congo Foreign Minister Therese Kayikwamba Wagner, who were present in the Oval Office during the meeting, signed the agreement earlier on Friday with Secretary of State Marco Rubio at the State Department.
- The agreement requires Rwandan troops to withdraw from eastern Congo and launch a joint security mechanism within 30 days and a regional economic integration framework within 90 days.
- The agreement between the two neighbors will also work to attract investment to the Congo’s mineral-rich provinces of North and South Kivu, which have tantalum, gold, cobalt, copper, and lithium. According to Trump, the United States will get “a lot of the mineral rights” for the resource-rich area of the Congo.
- The conflict kicked off when Rwanda sent 7,000 soldiers over its border to Congo in support of the M23 rebels, who seized two large cities in eastern Congo. The conflict is seen as the latest cycle of tension in a decades-old conflict with roots in the 1994 Rwandan genocide, according to Reuters.
- The Supreme Court upheld his executive order on birthright citizenship, ruling that lower courts do not have the authority to unilaterally block Trump’s agenda.
- Not only that — the court also ruled Friday that schools violate religious liberty when they bar parents from opting their children out of classroom instruction involving LGBT-themed books, a major win for religious conservatives and for the Trump White House, which has championed parents and their right to decide what their children are taught.
- In a third ruling, the Supreme Court supported a law that would require age verification to access pornography.
Combine all this with the Iranian nuclear strike, getting NATO country to raise their budgets by 5%, and the lower courts ruling that Trump can deport illegal aliens to any country and it’s been a huge month. Even CNN is admitting that Trump is winning.
