The Deep State is alive and well and trying to make your life miserable because you voted for Trump.
It looks like Pete Hegseth is going to need to fire more people at the Department of Defense.
And let us so goodbye to the race-baiting piece of crap, Joy Reid.
News on the Pope
The Deep State Is Alive and Well
According to the Seattle Times:
Federal workers in the Pacific Northwest who protect water and air quality and keep public lands open and clean are among the thousands fired without cause as President Donald Trump slashes jobs across the country.
Many more remain on edge. The Trump administration is targeting probationary employees who have yet to qualify for civil service protections, which includes some longtime employees who recently received a promotion. Many were let go on Friday or over the weekend by email.
These layoffs touched many parts of the federal government and in Washington some of the earliest impacts involved public lands and environmental programs. Some federal agencies are bracing for even deeper cuts that cover a wide range of services. These agencies keep public lands clean, find lost hikers, help fight wildfires and pick up debris once the blazes tear through towns, regulate toxic industries, and sell and distribute vast quantities of electricity to serve the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
Signs of the Trump administration’s firings and funding freezes are popping up across the region, sometimes literally. The Mountains to Sound Greenway posted a photo of a sign affixed to a barricade that read, “Due to the large scale termination of Forest Service employees, Franklin Falls and the Denny Creek Trailhead are CLOSED. This site will reopen when we return to appropriate staffing levels.”
The Franklin Falls Sno-Park is closed indefinitely.
It is not yet clear how many federal workers have been terminated or how many live in Washington state. Lawsuits have been filed in an attempt to pause the layoffs. And members of Congress from Washington are fuming.
Very Alive and Well
According to Fox News:
The Department of Defense (DOD) told its civilian workforce to ignore billionaire and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) Elon Musk’s request to report their productivity.
In a letter to DOD personnel, Darin S. Selnick, who is performing the duties of the undersecretary of defense for personnel and readiness, provided guidance on how to handle Musk’s demand through the Office of Personnel Management (OPM).
“DoD personnel may have received an email from OPM requesting information. The Department of Defense is responsible for reviewing the performance of its personnel and it will conduct any review in accordance with its own procedures,” Selnick wrote. “When and if required, the Department will coordinate responses to the email you have received from OPM. For now, please pause any response to the OPM email titled, ‘What did you do last week.’”
Musk, a senior advisor to President Donald Trump, said earlier on Saturday that employees would receive an email giving them a chance to explain how productive they were the previous week. If an employee fails to respond to the email, Musk said the government will interpret that as a resignation.
Wait, Where Did the $130 Billion for the Train Go?
According to The Hill:
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) sent a letter to members of Congress requesting nearly $40 billion in funding to rebuild communities after wildfires devastated the Pacific Palisades and Altadena neighborhoods of Los Angeles.
“It’s clear that recovery from these fires is beyond the capabilities of California alone and necessitates the support of the United States government,” the governor wrote in the letter addressed to House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.), House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) and Reps. Tom Cole (R-Okla.) and Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.).
“Make no mistake, Los Angeles will use this money wisely. California will ensure that funds will serve individuals, communities, property owners, and businesses that suffered losses from these devastating fires.”
He lauded the Trump administration for helping to clear debris and cited the state’s decision to nearly double the CAL FIRE personnel budget as a sign of intentions to ramp up reconstruction efforts.
The write-up also proposes pulling relief funding from various agencies including the Small Business Administration, Department of Commerce, Department of Housing and Urban Development, among other grants, instead of solely using dollars from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
“Funding is also critical for the repair and restoration of healthcare facilities impacted by the fires. At their peak, fires forced the evacuation of 160 facilities impacting over 2,600 individuals,” Newsom outlined in the letter, obtained by The Hill.
Some things:
- We were in a budget surplus at the start of COVID. Then we found it was a mistake and we are $26 billion in debt.
- The state had $35 billion for a high speed rail system, not it is at $130 billion and have a train from Bakersfield to Merced.
- We spend $6 billion a year on homelessness and it is only getting worse.
- Newsom just spend $500 million to “Trump-proof” California.
- We also have the highest taxes, highest cost of living and worst standard of living.
- And then there’s this:
That’s right. We are spending $10 billion a year in illegal aliens.
