Episode 268 – Another Victory!

Tom Cruise gets pissed off. Is this another example a spoiled actor being woke?

AOC is bucking the old Democratic swamp.

And, finally, I’ll be able to take a bitchen shower. Another Trump win!

Was This Really a Fit?

Tom Cruise, star of the Mission Impossible film series, had a little bit of a fit while filming Mission Impossible 7 in England. Now there are a couple of amazing things about this rant. The first is that there is actually a Mission Impossible 7. The next couple of things we will talk about after you listen to the rant. It is rather long but I think it’s worth listening too.

Cruise was pissed off because the folks filming the movie were not social distancing and were not wearing masks. Let’s listen:

I am going to make a weird argument here. First the negative:

  • Tom Cruise needs to work on his managerial skills. Yelling and cussing just makes you look out of control.
  • When you are ripping everyone, never call people out. This just causes derision between the employees. All this could lead to a lawsuit.
  • He had some really good points in his rant but they were lost with all the screaming and anger. A better way to handle this would have been to talk to a director and a producer to calm down then go off.
  • The rant was way too long. Three minutes would not have had the same effect as thirty seconds.
  • Always make sure there is not a hot mic when you’re going to go off.

With all that being said, I need to make clear what I think of Tom Cruise. I think he’s nuts. He’s a high level scientologist. His behavior on camera and off camera have been erratic. I remember him jumping around like a monkey while explaining how he was in love on the Ophra Winfery Show. His acting is very iffy. And I hated Top Gun.

But he was not completely wrong here. I’m going to do something that I have never thought I would ever do again. I am going to defend Tom Cruise.

  • He is in a position of authority. He is earning $25 to $30 million for this film and the money is guaranteed. It doesn’t matter if this film is shut down. Yes, he is a producer but that is just going to get him more money on top of his salary. He has every right to be pissed at people not following protocols.
  • He’s right in that 60% of the businesses in England are shut down and people are losing their homes and going hungry while they are there making a movie. Though he didn’t say it, they are privileged to be working.
  • He’s right that the workers for the film will be out of work if they have to shut down the shoot because there is a China virus outbreak. The shoot had been shutdown twice in the previous three months because of COVID outbreaks and the production was way behind.
  • He’s right that all they had to do was follow protocols that have been defined by the film company and the country of Briton.
  • And he’s right to threaten to fire those who do not follow the rules should lose their jobs.

I don’t like the way Tom Cruise handled it. Apparently, he handles it again and five people quit. But there are a couple of things to remember:

  • One must comply to the laws of the country you’re in. You don’t have to like it but you do.
  • One must comply to the rules of the business you are working in and the business one is frequenting.
  • I am an old school employee. Getting yelled at is nothing new.
  • This shows the hypocrisy of the Left.

Eating Your Own

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) says she is working on a plan to replace House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) with more progressive Democratic Party leaders.

AOC was being interviewed on a Left wing podcast called The Intercept. I find it amazing that AOC will only talk to Left wind platforms. Seems kind of cowardly to only talk to people who agree with her. People who won’t push back. Even with progressive platforms.

Here is the interview between AOC and The Intercepts‘s Jeremy Scahill:

Jeremy Scahill: “Isn’t this grounds, though, to take a stand and say, ‘No, I’m sorry. Nancy Pelosi should not be the speaker and Chuck Schumer should not be the leader?’”

AOC: “I do think that we need new leadership in the Democratic Party.

I think one of the things that I have struggled with – I think that a lot of people struggle with – is the internal dynamics of the House has made it such that there is very little option for succession.

“I think it’s easy for one to say, ‘Oh, well, you know, why don’t you run?’ but the House is extraordinarily complex and I’m not ready. It can’t be me. I know that I couldn’t do that job, and so even conservative members of the party who think Nancy Pelosi is far too liberal for them don’t necessarily have any viable alternatives.”

Jeremy Scahill (pushing AOC): Are Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumar “ready to say Pelosi and Schumer need to go.”

AOC: “I think so. The hesitancy that I have is that I want to make sure that if we’re pointing people in a direction, that we have a plan. And my concern — and this I acknowledge as a failing, as something that we need to sort out — is that there isn’t a plan. How do we fill that vacuum? Because if you create that vacuum, there are so many nefarious forces at play to fill that vacuum with something even worse.”

“Whenever there is a challenge, it kind of collapses, and that, I think, is the result of just many years of power being concentrated in leadership with lack of real grooming of next generation of leader.”

Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer are progressives and radicals. But they are politicians and not Leftists. They know what they can get away with and what they can’t. People like AOC, Ilhan Omar and the rest of the Squad have no idea. Yet their opinions hold a lot of weight. They are trying to remake the Democratic party. This is going to be bad for them in the long run. They are fractured and it’s only going to get worse.

Finally, a Nice Shower

The Trump administration has rolled back an Obama-era rule-change that placed new standards on showerheads in order to decrease daily water usage and increase conservation, a federal regulation the president has repeatedly derided as burdensome.

Under the rule-change, federal officials will no longer apply the gallons-per-minute limit for showerheads across all nozzles in a given shower, a departure from the Obama administration, which capped their collective output at 2.5 gallons per minute.

From the Department of Energy:

Congress has mandated a 2.5 gallon per minute limit on showerheads. DOE’s definition, now in line with the consensus standards from [American Society of Mechanical Engineers], states that each showerhead can emit up to the statutory limit. The prior definition, as interpreted by the Obama administration in 2013, stated that a device with multiple showerheads could only release 2.5 gallons per minute for the entire device. Today’s change will allow manufacturers to offer consumers new products that can provide more water and more comfort.

Secretary of Energy Dan Brouillette in a statement Tuesday:

“Today the Trump Administration affirmed its commitment to reducing regulatory burdens and safeguarding consumer choice. With these rule changes, Americans can choose products that are best suited to meet their individual needs and the needs of their families.”

Trump said, this summer:

“So, showerheads — you take a shower, the water doesn’t come out. You wash your hands, the water doesn’t come out. So what do you do? You just stand there longer, or you take a shower longer? Because my hair — I don’t know about you, but it has to be perfect. Perfect.”

This turn over of the law also applies to washing machines.

This just shows how stupid environmental regulations are. Trump is saying that people should make their own choices on what the want to use as a shower head or washing machine.

Here’s the thing: a regulation kills freedom of choice. Regulating all aspects of life kills all freedom of choice. This may not look like much but it does chip away at the government’s desire to take away our rights.

Today, it is shower heads and water we can have in a washing machine. Tomorrow, it’ll be about our rights to bear arms and defend ourselves. Finally, we will not be able to say that abortion is wrong.

If you have any questions about this, just look at the LGB community in the 1990’s.
