The Georgia Senate race ends today. David Perdue goes up against trust-fund socialist, Jon Ossoff and Kelly Loeffler goes against the racist and anti-Semitic Raphael Warnock.
The Senate prepares for certifying the Presidential vote and some are going to throw a wrench into the process.
And I can’t believe this guy has been a pastor for 40 years.
Another Hail Mary
Several Republican senators are vowing to challenge electoral votes in the 2020 presidential election from several battleground states when the votes are formally counted at a joint session of Congress on Wednesday, with the hopes of establishing a commission to determine who gets the votes.
These Senators include Senator Ted Cruz of Texas, Senators Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, James Lankford of Oklahoma, Steve Daines of Montana, John Kennedy of Louisiana, Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee and Mike Braun of Indiana, and Senators-elect Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming, Roger Marshall of Kansas, Bill Hagerty of Tennessee and Tommy Tuberville of Alabama.
This is not the first time this has happened. It happened in 1877 when four states were contested in the election of Rutherford B. Hayes against Democrat Charles Tilden. In that election, five Senators, five Representatives and five Supreme Court Justices spent 10 days auditing the votes for those states, eventually giving Hayes the victory.
Ted Cruz said:
“We do not take this action lightly. We are acting not to thwart the democratic process, but rather to protect it.” He and the other ten Senators believe this election “featured unprecedented allegations of voter fraud, violations and lax enforcement of election law, and other voting irregularities.”
The eleven Senators said in a joint statement:
“In 1877, Congress did not ignore those allegations, nor did the media simply dismiss those raising them as radicals trying to undermine democracy. Instead, Congress appointed an Electoral Commission consisting of five Senators, five House Members, and five Supreme Court Justices-to consider and resolve the disputed returns.”
“Once [the audit is] completed, individual states would evaluate the commission’s findings and could convene a special legislative session to certify a change in their vote, if needed.”
Mike Pence was initially quiet about the report but since stated he “welcomes the investigation.”
Pence said:
Many in my circles expected this. They believe that the Trump legal team is going to bring up some evidence that is going to make certification of this election impossible. When I ask why the Trump legal team waited so long, they respond by saying that they got an extra month to look for evidence which makes sense and that the media and other Democrats may wage a war on the new information, which makes more sense.
The chances of this actually overturning the election results is still rather thin because it is going to take some cooperation from the Democrats and the Supreme Court.

Is This Legal?
The Epoch Times had a great article on this last week, before anyone actually went out to challenge the certification of the election. I heard about this article from the Dan Bongino show and it sent my feelers up.
This is what is supposed to happen, according to the Epoch Times:
The counting of votes is primarily governed by the 12th Amendment of the Constitution and the amended Electoral Count Act.
The Constitution simply states that electors of each state have to meet, make a list of their votes, “which they shall sign and certify,” and send those to the president of the Senate, meaning Vice President Mike Pence.
“The President of the Senate shall, in the presence of the Senate and House of Representatives, open all the certificates and the votes shall then be counted,” the 1804 amendment says.
The Electoral Count Act of 1887, currently known as 3 U.S. Code Section 15, establishes a procedure for how the votes are counted, how to raise objections, and how to resolve disputes. First, it says that the vice president indeed presides over the proceedings. Then, it says the House and Senate leaders each designate two tellers. The VP opens the envelopes with the vote certificates and hands them to the tellers for counting. The tellers then read them out loud, count them, and hand them back to the VP to announce the results.
Then, in rather convoluted language, the law says that Congress members can object. At least one objection from each chamber is needed to trigger a separate vote by both House and Senate on the objections. If both chambers agree, the objected voters are rejected. That’s virtually out of the question given the Democrats’ majority in the House.
If two sets of electors are presented for counting, the House and Senate need to separately vote on which set is legitimate and which should be rejected. If each chamber votes differently, the set certified by the state’s governor should count. That would hand the victory to Biden.

What Do I Think?
This is going to lead to nothing. Joe Biden will be President and Kamala Harris will be President in three months. Mike Pence, who has no power to do so, will not overturn the election. The Democrats own the House and will not overturn Biden’s victory.
But I think it is a bit dangerous to go down this road.
- The states, right or wrong, should be able to certify their own votes without federal interference.
- The Republicans are actually condemning the electoral college. The same electoral college that gives them their power.
- It could start a very bad precedent. What happens when a Republican wins in 2024.
I am not happy about the election. I think there was a lot of fraud. I have no problem with all the challenges by the Trump legal team. It’s all legal. Nothing came of it. Let’s look to the future.
So You Thought the Dumb Would Just End with the Year
Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO), who is an ordained United Methodist minister, opened the first session of the 117th Congress on Sunday by praying in the name of a Hindu god and twisting the word “amen” into a commentary on gender.
Listen:
Brahma is a four-faced Hindu deity who “was born from a golden egg and created the earth and all things on it,” according to the Encyclopedia Britannica. He was later believed to have come out of a lotus that emerged from the navel of Vishnu, another Hindu deity.
The word “amen,” often translated “so be it,” finds its root in the Hebrew for “faithfulness” or “fidelity.” It has been used adverbially since antiquity to express affirmation of belief and agreement, and has nothing to do with gender.
Good to see that the Left can’t get away from being stupid. That’s what is going to make politics fun.
