Congress is in for a big fight in the coming days over the debt ceiling.

TikTok is trying to put themselves in the good graces of the government. Will it work.

And a congresswoman decides to instill racism into law.

Let’s Get Ready to Rumble!

Looks like there is going to be a fight in Congress this coming Thursday. That is when the debt limit will be reached will be reached and the government will not be able to borrow anymore money. If the debt limit is not increased, the government will run out of money by June of 2023.

Republicans are against raising the debt limit because out debt is closing in on $32 trillion and we are going to have to pay that off eventually and could lose our favored status as the default currency. This will lead to austerity measure. Austerity is the process when spending stops in order to control and lower the debt. Most of the spending that is stopping is social programs such as social security, welfare and food stamps. Sometimes these measures are determined by the countries we owe our debt to. Examples of countries that have had to go through this are Greece and Spain a decade ago.

Kevin McCarthy made it very clear he is not warm to raising the debt ceiling again and we should just let the government shutdown to bring it under control. He thinks it is now time to control our spending. He said:

“This is something that people have utilized. But I ask all of you and all Americans if you have a child and you give them a credit card and they spend the limit, so you increase the limit again and again and again, when does it end? We’ve got to change the way we are spending money wastefully in this country, and we’re going to make sure that happens.

“To get a debt ceiling, they also got a cap on spending for the next two years. Spending is out of control here. There’s been no oversight, and we cannot continue around the same process.”

He’s really caught between a rock and a hard place. This is one of the things he negotiated to be Speaker of the House so he’s going to have to stand behind this.

Janet Yellen, the very untalented Treasury Secretary, sent a letter to Kevin McCarthy telling him everything will be OK, just raise the limit. In the Wall Street Journal, she wrote:

In a matter of days, millions of Americans could be strapped for cash. We could see indefinite delays in critical payments. Nearly 50 million seniors could stop receiving Social Security checks for a time. Troops could go unpaid. Millions of families who rely on the monthly child tax credit could see delays. America, in short, would default on its obligations.

This is fear mongering. Social Security checks will go out when this is over (though social security is also going to be insolvent soon). The troops will get paid. And child tax credits and other giveaways by the government is the problem. Those need to stop.

The U.S. has never defaulted. Not once. Doing so would likely precipitate a historic financial crisis that would compound the damage of the continuing public health emergency. Default could trigger a spike in interest rates, a steep drop in stock prices and other financial turmoil. Our current economic recovery would reverse into recession, with billions of dollars of growth and millions of jobs lost.

The government caused the damage during the pandemic. And, news flash, the pandemic is over not matter what the government says.

The interest rates are already spiking. Why? Because of all the spending has caused inflation and raising the interest rates is the only way to control it. By the way, we spent $6.18 for eggs this weekend.

Finally, we are going into a recession whether the debt ceiling is raised or not. That’s because of inflation, the raising of the interest rates to control inflation, the supply chain crisis and all the BS regulations Biden is throwing out there.

We would emerge from this crisis a permanently weaker nation. For about a century, America’s creditworthiness has been a major advantage over our economic competitors. We can borrow more cheaply than almost any other country, and defaulting would jeopardize this enviable fiscal position. It would also make America a more expensive place to live, as the higher cost of borrowing would fall on consumers. Mortgage payments, car loans, credit card bills — everything that is purchased with credit would be costlier after default.

What she doesn’t get, or does and is just lying, is we are a weaker nation because of all this spending and everything is going up in price already because of their stupid policies.

Hey, I don’t care if the government stays open. F-em. Let them shut down and not get paid for a couple of months. Shut down welfare and  food stamps. Shut the IRS and EPA down. I’m good with it. Because here’s the reality, all this is going to happen whether we like it or not if we don’t get the debt and spending under control.

More Needs to be Done About This

TikTok has been getting a lot of crap about the content they allow and their data collection practices. Mind you, this is an application from China. They are not even hiding what they’re doing. Unfortunately for them, the government is beginning to see what they are doing and they are responding. They have banned all federal employees from having the app on government phones. Other states are going out of their way to ban the app altogether.

TikTok is trying to remake their image now that their bottom line is being affected.

According to the Daily Wire:

TikTok officials disclosed negotiation details with U.S. lawmakers in a $1.5 billion plan that would reportedly increase transparency and reorganize how it operates in the U.S. amid national security concerns about the Chinese-owned social media giant.

Communication between the video-sharing app and the U.S. Committee on Foreign Investment, which oversees how TikTok would operate in America, has been kept under wraps, The Wall Street Journal reported, as at least 25 states have placed restrictions and bans on the app on government-owned devices over data privacy and national security threats.

TikTok officials told The Wall Street Journal that the company believes the proposal would address such concerns, including “content recommendation and user-data access with layers of government and independent oversight.”

Wow, we can trust them now. They say that they will be more transparent. I believe that’s going to happen. They say they are going to take national security into consideration. I believe that’s going to happen.

Listen, TikTok needs to go away. It should be banned in this country. It is a spy tool for the Chinese government. It is a propaganda tool to change the behavior of our children. They don’t even have the same version in China. I got rid of TikTok, though I rarely used it. My kids don’t use it and even Josie’s kids have stopped using it.

It needs to go away.

That Will Solve the Crime Problem

Sheila Jackson Lee of the House has decided to go full racist and codify it into law.

According to the Daily Wire:

Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) filed legislation last week to codify “conspiracy to commit white supremacy” in federal hate crime laws.

The Leading Against White Supremacy Act, introduced days after the beginning of the new Congress, would enable the Department of Justice to prevent “violent activity” in relation to white supremacy ideology. The bill does not define white supremacy. Nevertheless, it adds “white supremacy based motivation against any person” to existing statutes that already introduce penalties for crimes perpetrated against another person because of “race, color, religion, or national origin.”

The bill defines “conspiracy to engage in white supremacy inspired hate crime” as an activity “between two or more persons engaged in the planning, development, preparation, or perpetration of a white supremacy inspired hate crime.” At least one of the two or more conspirators must have published material advancing “white supremacist ideology,” “replacement theory,” or any “hate speech” directed against non-white groups on social media or other platforms where the content could be “viewed by persons who are predisposed to engaging in any action in furtherance of a white supremacy inspired hate crime.”

Here she is, introducing the bill:

Alright, this law is not going to pass. If it, by some miracle, does pass, it will not get through the courts. It is unconstitutional. But should be talked about and called out for what it is, racism against white people.

There are a bunch of problems with this law:

  • It is thought crime. Someone just has to say something that can be construed as white supremacist and they can be arrested.
  • This is a violation of the First Amendment.
  • A crime committed by someone else can get someone with an unacceptable opinion charged.
  • This only applies to white people.
  • Who defines what is and isn’t hate speech? I bet it’s Sheila Jackson Lee.
  • What is violent activity? Is it actually violence or is it that “words are violent” thing.

What this really shows is how stupid these representative are. They are so unaware of who they are. This bill should be condemned as racist by everyone. They should be calling Jackson Lee a racist. She should not be in Congress. But Republicans are cowards.
