Mic Drop Moment

Last week, there was an absolutely horrid story that happened in Ocala, Florida.

The teenagers were murdered and their bodies were strewn around the city. Eventually, the suspects were caught. They were ages 12, 16 and 17. They were all three charged with murder, car jacking, car theft, aggravated assault and eluding law enforcement. The 17 and 12 year-olds were charged with first degree murder.

This was a horrid story. Some many lives were ruined. But, of course, the media doesn’t want to do a deep dive as to why three teens would kill three other teens. They can’t blame racism because the murder victims were white and the murderers were black. So they they went after guns.

The Florida Sheriff, Billy Woods, was having none of it.

He said it all. We need a little more of this from law enforcement.

DO AS I SAY!

Last week, a district court judge appointed by Donald Trump, Matthew Kacsmaryk, issued a 67-page ruling stating that the abortion drug, mifepristone, must be pulled from the shelves because the FDA did not follow their own procedures in approving the drug. In other words, they did not perform all of the tests they needed to perform to prove the drug was safe. This was not a paperwork snafu, they didn’t test the drug like they should of based on their own standards and procedure.

The judge gave the Biden administration a week to appeal, which the Biden administration is going to do. That means the drug won’t be pulled from the shelves until this coming Monday.

Pro-life folk are calling this a big victory. I don’t. The drug isn’t banned, it just needs to be tested more and it will be re-released to the public. It might be off the shelves for a year. I would rather see it banned because it kills babies, but that’s not the ruling.

But the Left is flipping out. They have an idea on how to handle this ruling.

Here’s AOC giving her idea on how to handle this situation:

Dude, It’s Weather

According to the New York Post:

Hotter weather from climate change has played a role in the surge of home runs in Major League Baseball, researchers claimed in a study published Friday.

But despite the onslaught of headlines, the effect was small — and could be chalked up to everything from stronger players to “livelier” baseballs. And a critic noted that minor league home runs are actually down in the same period.

Players hit at least 500 more homers between 2010 and 2019 — roughly 50 a year — because balls fly a greater distance in warmer air, the paper by Dartmouth College researchers argues.

But researchers also noted that there were a number of factors for why players are knocking it out of the ballpark more often, with the biggest factor being the size of the ball and stitches.

Who Cares!

According to the Daily Mail:

Iconic 1970s flick Grease is set for a woke TV re-boot that will see the classic musical center itself around a multicultural, all-female lineup to explore ‘sexual orientation, gender expression and racial identity’.

Family favorite tunes will be re-sung alongside new musical numbers including one about white supremacy, while the 1950s student population at Rydell High School will be re-filled with a varied mix of LGBT and black high schoolers unseen in the 1978 hit.

Set in 1954, ‘Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies’ will be a prequel to the original film, showing how the girl-gang counterpart to Danny Zuko’s T-Birds was founded.

What will be included:

  • A non-binary tomboy who struggles to fit in alongside her multicultural band mates.
  • The iconic autoshop dance which, this time around, is led by gender nonconforming nonbinary trans actor Ari Notartomaso, who plays Cynthia.
  • Ari Notartomaso said: ‘Queerness, gender nonconformity and transness throughout time hasn’t always been exactly the same. All of us are a product of the culture that we live in, but it is really special to be able to tell that story of what it may have been like in the 1950s.’
  • She is joined in her breakout role by Cheyenne Wells, who plays Mexican American student Olivia grappling with an alleged affair with her adult English teacher, and Tricia Fukuhara as Nancy, a Japanese American finding her place in high school.
  • In the third episode of the series, the plot will reportedly attempt to grapple with discrimination within the Rydell High community. Revolving around the stories of a shy black girl named Hazel and Davila’s Latina character Jane, the episode will include a musical number called ‘In The Club’ in which rich white country club founders are animated out of an oil painting to sing about white supremacy.

Sounds wonderful. Sure it’s going to be a hit.

I Told You So

I hate to tell you I told you so, but I told you so.

According to the New York Times:

Despite the common misconception, people can become addicted to cannabis just as they can with other drugs, like alcohol or cocaine. As more states either decriminalize or legalize cannabis, more people are using it than ever before. According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, in 2021, approximately 19 percent of Americans 12 and older used cannabis, and nearly 6 percent of teens and adults qualified as having cannabis use disorder — the clinical name for addiction. (For comparison, close to 11 percent of Americans over the age of 11 have alcohol use disorder.)

The article continues:

The potential consequences of cannabis use disorder are not as severe as with other drugs like opiates, where overdose deaths are a dire concern. But cannabis addiction can cause “a dramatic decrease in quality of life,” said Dr. Christina Brezing, an assistant professor of psychiatry at Columbia University. Here’s what to know.

How do we know this is true? Denver was one of the first cities to legalize the stuff and the homeless rate, crime and unemployment have gone up exponentially.

The article describes some of the consequences:

  • Taking more of the drug or using it more frequently than you intend to

  • Spending a great deal of time obtaining or using cannabis

  • Having an uncontrollable urge, or craving, to use it

  • Trying to stop or cut back and not being able to

  • Foregoing other social or recreational activities in order to use cannabis

  • Experiencing interpersonal conflicts as a result of your cannabis use

  • Failing to fulfill obligations at work or at home as a result of use

  • Putting yourself in potentially dangerous situations as a result of obtaining or using cannabis

  • Continued use despite negative physical and psychological effects

  • Developing tolerance — having to use more of the drug to achieve the same effect

  • Experiencing withdrawal symptoms when you stop using cannabis, such as insomnia, irritability, anxiety, depressed mood and decreased appetite

But those are just some of the less serious symptoms. More serious symptoms are discussed a little later in the article:

Having another psychiatric diagnosis, such as anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, is also associated with an increased risk. One possible reason for the overlap is that some people self-medicate with cannabis, and the heavier a person’s use, the more likely they are to develop physical dependence.

One of the other problems that is mention is psychosis. San Diego is reporting 37 people a day are going to the hospital for psychotic episode from pot.

I have never been for drug legalization. I have never seen an argument that has convinced me otherwise.

  • There is no safe drug.
  • It is more dangerous than cigarettes.
  • It is a gateway drug. This study proves it (self medicating).
  • Stop bringing up Prohibition. It’s not the same thing.
