Episode 847 – A Really Bad Day

Nikki Haley gets smoked in Nevada. I think it’s time for her to drop out.

Joe Biden mumbles through a speech supporting the borer bill that seems only to support Ukraine’s border.

And Republicans had a really bad day yesterday.

News

Here is some news:

  • Former President Donald Trump wasn’t on the ballot in Tuesday’s Republican presidential primary in the early voting state of Nevada.
    • But his absence wasn’t enough to help secure a victory for his last remaining major rival for the 2024 GOP nomination – Nikki Haley.
    • Voters casting ballots in the state-run Republican nominating contest couldn’t write in Trump’s name, but they could vote for a “none of these candidates” option.
  • The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) unveiled the regulations Wednesday morning in a joint announcement with environmental activists, saying limiting particulate matter known as PM2.5 or soot would have health benefits for Americans nationwide. The rulemaking lowers the annual PM2.5 standard from a level of 12 micrograms per cubic meter to a level of 9 micrograms per cubic meter.
    • They also pointed to a May 2023 study conducted by Oxford Economics and commissioned by NAM that concluded more restrictive PM2.5 regulations would threaten between $162.4 and $197.4 billion of economic activity while putting 852,100 to 973,900 current jobs at risk.
    • The regulations, meanwhile, will make the U.S. PM2.5 standards among the world’s most burdensome. While Australia and Canada have annual standards lower than 9 micrograms per cubic meter, Japan has a standard of 15 micrograms per cubic meter, and the U.K. and European Union both have a standard of 20 micrograms per cubic meter.
    • China and India have annual standards of 35 micrograms per cubic meter or greater.
    • This also does not take into consideration pollution caused outside of the industry like forest fires.
    • This will cause:
      • Supply chain issues.
      • Inflation.
      • Will do nothing for the environment because all the other countries refuse to follow this policy.

Dumbass of the Day

For the Rest of the Year

The first thing Old Joe had to talk about was the country he really loved: Ukraine. He feels the need to send Ukraine another $60 billion to, ironically, protect their borders from Russia. Listen:

Big Losses for Republicans

There is a lot going on that is bad:

  • Joe Biden is a disaster.
  • Kamala Harris is a moron.
  • The border is wide open.
  • The Afghanistan pull out was a disaster.
  • Hunter Biden is showing the corruption of the bidens.
  • We are in two wars.
  • Crime is way up.
  • Iran is killing our troops.
  • China.

But leave it to Republicans to F- everything up. They couldn’t even do something that should have been a slam dunk.

According to the Daily Wire:

On Tuesday, House Republicans failed to muster enough support to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas over his handling of a border crisis fraught with surging illegal crossings and fentanyl poisonings fueled by drug trafficking.

Three GOP lawmakers broke ranks and joined all voting Democrats to defeat a resolution that could have made Mayorkas the first Cabinet secretary to be impeached since 1876. The defectors included Reps. Ken Buck (R-CO)Tom McClintock (R-CA), and Mike Gallagher (R-WI).

The final tally ended up being 214-216, just short of the simple majority needed for success, as House GOP Vice Chairman Blake Moore (R-UT) flipped to a “no” vote at the last moment. Members said Moore changed his vote to break a tie and give Republicans another chance to bring up the impeachment resolution in the future.

They also threw out a standalone bill to fund the Israelis in their war with Hamas.

According to the Daily Wire:

The GOP-led House failed on Tuesday to pass a bill to approve a $17.6 billion Israel aid package that does not include an offset that was tucked into a similar measure the chamber approved last year.

Fourteen Republicans joined with 166 Democrats in voting against H.R. 7217, which is geared toward helping Israel respond to attacks, while 204 GOP lawmakers and 46 of their colleagues across the aisle supported it. One member, Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), missed the vote as he continues to battle cancer.

It was 250-180 but 2/3s were needed for the bill to pass.

There is some good news for Republicans.

According to the Post Millennial:

Beleaguered RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel is reportedly intending to step down. Donald Trump, who has been vocal about the need for changes at the RNC, is likely to back Michael Watley, who currently heads the North Carolina GOP.

McDaniel told Trump she was planning to step down in advance of South Carolina’s Republican primary on February 24, The New York Times reports. That contest will see Nikki Haley face off against Trump in her home state. An election will have to be held for the new chair.

All I can say is it’s about time. This gal has been a disaster for Republicans.

This Is How To Do It!

According to the Daily Wire:

Gina Carano filed a lawsuit against Disney on Tuesday, three years after the entertainment giant cut ties with the star actress from its “Star Wars” spinoff show “The Mandalorian” after what it deemed “offensive” social media posts.

Carano announced on X on Tuesday that her lawsuit, filed in the U.S. federal court for the Central District of California, was prompted in part by an offer from Elon Musk. The billionaire entrepreneur said in August of last year that X would fund the legal bill of anyone who was “unfairly treated by your employer due to posting or liking something on this platform.” The lawsuit alleges that Carano was wrongfully terminated, losing millions of dollars in income, and seeks to force Lucasfilm to recast her.

She wrote:

“Today is an important day for me–I am filing a lawsuit against @lucasfilm & @Disney,” Carano wrote in her announcement of the lawsuit against Disney. “After my 20 years of building a career from scratch, and during the regime of former Disney CEO Bob Chapek, Lucasfilm made this statement on Twitter, terminating me from The Mandalorian: ‘Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm & there are no plans for her to be in the future. Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural & religious identities are abhorrent & unacceptable.’”

“Nothing could be further from the truth. The truth is I was being hunted down from everything I posted to every post I liked because I was not in line with the acceptable narrative of the time,” the actress continued. “My words were consistently twisted to demonize & dehumanize me as an alt right wing extremist. It was a bullying smear campaign aimed at silencing, destroying & making an example out of me.”

Her post continued:

“The thing is I never even used aggressive language. I shared thought provoking quotes, pictures, memes & occasionally I used my own words, not with aggression but with respect & the occasional comedy to keep the mood light in dark times.”

“Look with your own eyes at what I posted and ask yourself, for example, where did I compare Republicans to the Jewish people in the holocaust? I didn’t. Ask yourself why they were calling me a racist, was there any merit behind that or history of it whatsoever? No. Look at why I was called a transphobe–for making droid noises from Star Wars? ‘Beep, bop, boop’ was obviously directed to the online bullies and did not in any way denigrate transgender people.”

“Were my questions about masks, lockdowns & forced vaccines ok to ask & push the subject into the light? Should we have been allowed to publicly discuss those topics at that time without being harassed or censored? Absolutely.”

“Hollywood says they support female representation & equal rights. Why then were my male co-stars permitted to speak without harassment & re-education courses or termination, but I was not afforded the same right to exercise my freedom of speech.”

“Artists do not sign away our rights as American citizens when we enter into employment. I have spoken to all my co-stars since I was fired & there is nothing but care and kind words between us. I respect their right to free speech & do not have to think the same on every issue to be their friends & work with them & I know they feel the same towards me.”

“A couple months ago @ElonMusk tweeted that if you had been fired from using the platform (X) for exercising your right to free speech, he would like to offer these people legal representation. Quite the noble offer, but never in my wildest dreams would I have thought anyone would take on my case against Lucasfilm/Disney. Still, I did respond back ‘I think I qualify’ & thousands of people agreed–but I did not expect anything.”

“To my surprise, a few months ago I received an email from a lawyer who had been hired by X to look into my story & many others. Turns out after sending them as much information as I could gather these past few months, my now lawyers & X believe whole-heartedly in my case & are moving forward.”

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude & thank you to @ElonMusk & @X for giving me an opportunity to bring my case to light.”

“As for me, I would love to pick up where I left off & continue my journey of creating & participating in story-telling, which is my utmost passion & everything I worked so hard for. It has been difficult to move forward with the lies & labels stuck on me, backed & encouraged by the most powerful entertainment company in the world. I am grateful someone has come to my defense in such a powerful way & look forward to clearing my name.”

“Thank you to all the people who have supported me & made your voices heard. I pray God blesses each & every one of you.”

Elon Mush responded:

Musk responded to Carano’s post, writing, “Please let us know if you would like to join the lawsuit against Disney.”

Good for them. This is what the Left does. We need to take a page from their book.

We Need More of This!

According to Fox News:

A tampon dispenser installed in the boys’ restroom lasted less than a half hour before being ripped out and destroyed at a Connecticut high school.

In order to comply with state law, Brookfield High School installed a menstrual products dispenser in a boys’ restroom at 9:30 a.m. on January 24. The school’s principal, Marc Balanda, reported that by 9:52 a.m. the dispenser had been vandalized and ripped from the wall.

In an email to the school, Balanda wrote that he was “disgusted” and “dismayed” by the act. “I am aware that the law says ‘men’s bathroom’ but the actions today that led to vandalism and destruction of property were the work of immature boys, not men,” he said.

He encouraged any students with issues regarding the tampon dispenser to “ask for more information. Use your words to start a dialogue rather than using your hands to destroy something. In this particular instance, if you have questions, please let me know.”
