Episode 865 – I Thought He Cut the Deficit?

Joe Biden is so proud of cutting the deficit, he decided it was time to increase it.

New York has quietly passed a law that will eliminate one of their signature cuisines. This is what Leftism does. It destroys, it never creates.

And one of our elites has decided she’s way too important to be held responsible for anything.

Ungood!

Inflation is going to kill the Biden administration. Here is some of the news from the Wall Street Journal:

  • Consumer prices rose 3.2% in February from a year earlier, the Labor Department said Tuesday, up slightly from economists’ expectations of 3.1%.
  • The second straight month of firmer-than-expected inflation is likely to reinforce the central bank’s wait-and-see posture toward rate reductions when officials meet next week.
  • Core prices, which exclude food and energy items in an effort to better track inflation’s underlying trend, rose 0.4% from January—more than the 0.3% economists expected.
  • Core prices were up 3.8% from a year earlier.
  • The report showed prices for energy goods rose 3.6% from a month earlier, a reflection of the rise in gasoline prices last month.
  • Services prices remained elevated, rising 0.5% from January, and 5% from a year earlier.

Dumbass of the Day

I Thought He Cut the Deficit?

According to the New York Times:

President Biden proposed a $7.3 trillion budget on Monday packed with tax increases on corporations and high earners, new spending on social programs and a wide range of efforts to combat high consumer costs like housing and college tuition.

The proposal includes only relatively small changes from the budget plan Mr. Biden submitted last year, which went nowhere in Congress, though it reiterates his call for lawmakers to spend about $100 billion to strengthen border security and deliver aid to Israel and Ukraine.

Most of the new spending and tax increases included in the fiscal year 2025 budget again stand almost no chance of becoming law this year, given that Republicans control the House and roundly oppose Mr. Biden’s economic agenda. Last week, House Republicans passed a budget proposal outlining their priorities, which are far afield from what Democrats have called for.

He is proposing a corporate tax hike to 21% for business and wants to raise taxes on anyone earning $400K or higher.

This will not pass through Congress. He did the same thing last year, calling for a $6 trillion budget. This didn’t make it either.

He plans to use this as a campaign pledge to show the difference between him and Trump. I would take that challenge if I were Trump and explain that the government sucks at handling your money.

It’s Finally Happened

According to the New York Post:

New York City has quietly approved a controversial green plan to require pizzerias and matzah bakeries using decades-old wood- and coal-fired stoves to cut their smoky pollutants by 75%.

Mayor Eric Adams’ Department of Environmental Protection said the fresh edict takes effect April 27, with some city businesses having already coughed up more than $600,000 for new smoke-eating systems in anticipation of the expected mandate.

“You are going after pizza? Glorious New York pizza?” groused Mike Dabin in a recent online comment to the city DEP. “Can’t you go after Diesel Trucks instead of pizza ovens?”

Businesses using wood and anthracite stoves can apply for a variance but need evidence to prove they are unable to comply with the mandate.

Pizza lovers and some entrepreneurs went bonkers when The Post first reported on the proposed rule last summer, worried that the dough needed to comply with the measure would put beloved spots out of business — or at least affect the taste of their tomato and mozzarella slices.

Some Are More Equal Than Other

According to the New York Post:

Soap star Haley Pullos has blamed another driver for a wrong-way car crash that led to her DUI arrest — and asked a judge to dismiss his civil lawsuit over serious injuries.

Pullos, 25, known for playing Molly Lansing-Davis on “General Hospital,” was allegedly under the influence in April 2023 when she drove into oncoming traffic on a Pasadena freeway, flying over a barrier and slamming into the other car.

The actress denied responsibility for the crash and asked the Los Angeles Superior Court to dismiss driver Courtney Wilder’s civil lawsuit, according to court documents obtained by RadarOnline.

She argued that “the damages” were “proximately caused by either the sole negligent and/or intentional conduct of plaintiffs,” and that his recovery costs, “if any, should be reduced by an amount proportionate to the amount by which plaintiffs’ negligent.”

The “Expanding Universe of Ashley Garcia” alum further claimed that any damages were out of her control and demanded all claims to be dismissed, according to the news outlet.

There’s more to this story:

  • When firefighters freed the actress from the wreck, she allegedly became “violent” and shouted, “This is a $400 f–king shirt!”
  • Police reportedly discovered weed edibles and mini bottles of tequila inside Pullos’ car and authorities said she had the “smell of alcohol on her breath, slurred speech, and watery eyes.”
  • She also was accused of driving the wrong way on the freeway.
  • The police said Pullos swerved, flew over the divider, and into oncoming traffic. She crashed headfirst into Wilder’s car while driving 60 MPH.
  • The victim claimed he suffered serious internal injuries in the crash that required him to be transported to the ER and have emergency surgery.
  • He was in the hospital for weeks and is going to require more surgery.

This is a clear case of elite privilege.
