Episode 986 – Telling the Truth Is a Controversy

Men want to use the women’s restroom in Congress and then complain that Republicans are starting the culture war.

Gas will be going down throughout the country except in California. Let’s explore why.

And some guy is facing 10 years in prison for driving…on a street.

Some News

Here is some news:

  • Jose Ibarra, the killer of Laken Reilley, has been sentenced to life in prison. The leftist DA is getting crap for not asking for the death penalty.
  • U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Boston announced on Wednesday the arrests of two illegal immigrants who have been charged with forcibly raping children in Massachusetts, as well as a third individual who was convicted of raping a child in Brazil, and was hiding in the U.S. after being caught and released at the U.S. border in 2022.
    • The arrests come after Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey said her state would not cooperate with President-elect Trump’s federal immigration enforcement efforts once he returns to the Oval Office in January.
    • ICE said one of the suspects, an illegal immigrant from Guatemala, was arrested for forcible rape of a child, but was released in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, by authorities, who ignored a detainer request made by the federal agency to hold or transfer him to federal custody.
  • The Illinois Supreme Court overturned Jussie Smollett’s hate crime hoax conviction Thursday.
    • “Today we resolve a question about the State’s responsibility to honor the agreements it makes with defendants,” the court wrote in documents obtained by Fox News Digital. “Specifically, we address whether a dismissal of a case by nolle prosequi allows the State to bring a second prosecution when the dismissal was entered as part of an agreement with the defendant and the defendant has performed his part of the bargain. We hold that a second prosecution under these circumstances is a due process violation, and we therefore reverse defendant’s conviction.”
  • The International Criminal Court (ICC) rejected challenges from Israel and issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Thursday.
    • The ICC charged Netanyahu and Gallant with “crimes against humanity and war crimes,” including using starvation as a method of warfare and targeting civilians. Israeli President Isaac Herzog condemned the move in a statement on Thursday.
  • Ukraine said Russia fired what appeared to be an intercontinental ballistic missile at the city of Dnipro on Thursday, in what would be the first use in war of a weapon designed to deliver long-distance nuclear strikes.
    • The United States disputes that.
    • Russia has made no comment.
    • Joe Biden is sending Ukraine another $275 million.

These People Are Insane

According to the Daily Wire:

South Carolina Congresswoman Nancy Mace is following up her Capitol Hill bathroom legislation with yet another bill protecting women’s spaces — this time, banning men who identify as transgender women from using women’s facilities on any federal property.

Mace’s bill, the “Protecting Women’s Private Spaces Act,” was obtained exclusively on Wednesday morning by The Daily Wire. It will “prohibit individuals from accessing or using single-sex facilities on federal property other than those corresponding to their biological sex.” It forbids anyone from accessing facilities on federal property that do not correspond with their biological sex, and it provides precise definitions of what it means to be female or male.

Mace sparked a backlash this week when she introduced a bill banning trans-identifying men from women’s bathrooms or facilities on Capitol Hill. The resolution specifically states that “allowing biological males into single-sex facilities, such as restrooms, locker rooms, and changing rooms designed for women, jeopardizes the safety and dignity of members, officers, and employees of the House who are female.”

Liberal media outlets and lawmakers balked at the resolution, arguing that it targets a newly elected member of Congress — Sarah McBride, a man who identifies as a woman.

Thing Just Keep Getting Worse

According to the Washington Examiner:

California gas prices could rise up to $1.15 per gallon next year thanks to the state’s new carbon credit system, taxes, refinery regulations, and refinery shutdown. This would require the typical Californian to make up to $1,000 per year more in pre-tax income to “break even,” according to an analysis from a professor at the USC Marshall School of Business.

“The increase contributes to inflation, the high cost of living in California, and has a disproportionate and adverse impact on lower income Californians,” wrote Professor Michael A. Mische. “To compensate for the increases, the average Californian driving an internal combustion vehicle will have to earn an additional $600.00 to $1,000.00 a year in pre-tax income in order to “breakeven” with 2024 prices, depending on the grade of gas they purchase.”

Days after the November election, the California Air Resources Board — a regulatory commission almost entirely appointed by the governor — passed new updates to the state’s Low Carbon Fuel Standard, requiring producers of “dirty” transportation fuel to purchase more credits from producers of “clean” transportation fuel. The new LCFS will provide an estimated $105 billion in EV charging credits and $8 billion of hydrogen credits largely paid for by fees on gasoline and diesel, which the state estimated would be passed on to drivers and consumers.

Mische first estimated  that the state’s newly passed carbon credit requirement will increase retail prices for regular grade gasoline in 2025 somewhere between 40 and 65 cents per gallon — similar to that estimated by the University of Pennsylvania Kleinman Center for Energy Policy.

He then estimated that the governor’s new refinery regulations he passed during a special legislative session last month would increase prices between 5 and 27 cents per gallon, and that the shutdown of the Phillips 66 refinery announced after the new refinery regulations would add another 8 to 14 cents per gallon.

Because California gas taxes rise with the state’s price index, Mische estimates the gas tax will go up between one to two cents per gallon in 2025.

Combined, these changes add up to an increase of 55 to 90 cents per gallon of regular-grade gasoline in 2025, and 95 cents to $1.15 for premium-grade gasoline.

How will it rise?

  • Carbon credit will raise the price – $.40-.65.
  • Refinery regulations – $.05-.27.
  • Refinery closure – $.08-.14
  • Gas tax hike $.02

Gavin Newsom was asked about this. Here’s his answer:
