Episode 994 – STOP INVESTING OUR MONEY!!

New York has a new report stating that their illegal alien problem is a whole lot worse than thought.

All those companies producing electric vehicles are getting a lot of money from the government but they are also laying off a lot of people.

And why are so many people embracing the assassination of United Health’s CEO? Let’s talk about it.

It’s About Time

According to the New York Post:

There are over 58,000 illegal migrants who are convicted felons or facing criminal charges roaming NYC — and close to 670,000 across the country, startling new data obtained by The Post shows.

Of the 759,218 illegal-border crossers living in the Big Apple the feds were aware of as of Nov. 17, a jaw-dropping 58,626 — 7.7% — were either previously convicted of crimes or had criminal charges pending, according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency data.

And of the 58,626 migrants with rap sheets, 1,053, nearly 2%, are “suspected or known gang members,” according to the agency.

Later:

Of the nearly 7.8 million illegal immigrants in the United States, 662,586 – or 8.6% — are convicted criminals or have charges pending, according to ICE data through July 21. It’s unclear how many are suspected gang members.

Just a little something:. All illegal aliens are criminals. When we fail to recognize that, we will not take seriously a way to prevent the problem or fix the problem.

Another Salyndra?

According to the New York Post:

Shares of a struggling electric-car maker that competes against Tesla are surging this week after the lame-duck Biden administration loaned the company billions of dollars.

The Department of Energy announced on Tuesday that it was extending a $6.6 billion loan to Rivian for the construction of a $5 billion electric car factory in Georgia that the company initially started but then put on hold due to financial constraints.

Shares of Rivian, an EV startup based in California that has been looking to challenge Tesla — whose CEO Elon Musk has been front and center in boosting President-elect Donald Trump — climbed 15% after news of the loan was announced early Tuesday.

The stock is up 22% this week. On Wednesday, the shares recently changed hands at $12.20, up 5.6%.

I bet Nancy Pelosi invested in that stock.

The Rivian loan, which is reportedly contingent on the company not actively opposing union organizing efforts at the facility, would enable the company to complete construction of the Atlanta-area plant, which has the support of Georgia’s Republican Gov. Brian Kemp.

The facility is expected to employ 7,500 people who would begin manufacturing electric SUVs and trucks beginning in 2028.

Vivek Ramaswamy, the former Republican presidential candidate who has been named by Trump as co-head alongside Musk of an advisory counsel dubbed the “Department of Government Efficiency,” slammed the Biden administration for the move on Tuesday.

“Biden is forking over $6.6 billion to EV-maker Rivian to build a Georgia plant they’ve already halted,” Ramaswamy wrote on X.

“One ‘justification’ is the 7,500 jobs it creates, but that implies a cost of $880k/job which is insane,” according to Ramaswamy, who added that the move “smells more like a political shot across the bow at @elonmusk & @Tesla.”

My problem with this is the government should keep out of the business of business. It sucks at everything but especially business.

Rivian, backed by left-leaning billionaire financier George Soros until last year, was worth as much as $150 billion just three years ago but is now worth slightly more than $10 billion.

Musk this week blasted California’s Democratic governor, Gavin Newsom, for his “insane” plan to offer state residents who buy electric vehicles rebates — though the benefit would not be extended to those who purchase Teslas.

While Rivian’s corporate headquarters are based in California, the company’s vehicles are produced in a plant that was once owned by Mitsubishi in Normal, Ill.

Rivian’s R1 vehicles cost $70,000 or more. The company plans to produce R2 vehicles, a smaller SUV, in Georgia with lower price tags aimed at a mass market.

The loan to Rivian comes against the backdrop of Musk’s active campaigning on behalf of Trump.

Musk has been a fierce critic of President Joe Biden and the Democrats — particularly over issues such as government regulation of business, taxation, coronavirus lockdown measures and hot-button culture war controversies including transgender care and free speech.

What a Shock

According to ABC7 News:

CHANNAHON, Ill. (WLS) — Lion Electric, which manufactures electric buses, will suspend its operations at its Channahon facility, the company announced in a press release Tuesday.

The company announced the suspension of operations at the plant as well as temporary layoffs of about 400 workers across the company, which is based in Canada. The layoffs leave Lion Electric with about 300 workers.

The plant in Channahon opened in July of 2023 and was set to produce up to 20,000 vehicles a year. The plant was the first dedicated vehicle assembly plant in the Chicago area since 1965.

In a statement, Joliet Mayor Terry D’Arcy said, “The City of Joliet has been in close communication with the Lion Electric team over the past few months to monitor the situation. The temporary layoff of its workforce has unfortunately affected the Joliet production site. However, the company has received a two-week credit extension from the banks, and during this time, Lion will evaluate its options, including a potential sale of the business, which could lead to the reopening of the Joliet production site.”

The state provided the company with a $7.9 million tax-incentive package tied to 745 future jobs at the Joliet plant, a number that Lion executives said they would exceed.
